Urban Martial Saint

Watching Huangfu Ziyu walk away, the Wolf Monk finally let out a sigh of relief, fearing that Huangfu Ziyu might stubbornly disregard his words.

He turned his head towards the direction of the gorge, gritted his teeth, and turned around, heading straight towards the gorge. Although he knew the dangers inside, he still had to go. He would absolutely not let Fu Qingping face danger there alone.

The Wolf Monk’s speed was extremely fast, and it wasn’t long before he reached inside the gorge. Just as he entered, a figure flew towards him. Upon closer inspection, it was none other than Fu Qingping.

Fu Qingping was badly injured, the clothes on his chest already stained red with blood, clearly having been knocked flying, and blood continued to gush from his mouth. Yet, he still firmly grasped the Qingping Sword in his hand, not loosening his grip one bit.

Witnessing this situation, the Wolf Monk was also greatly shocked. He rushed forward to support Fu Qingping, urgently saying, ”Senior Fu!”

Fu Qingping slowly opened his eyes and glanced at the Wolf Monk, furrowed his brows slightly, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and said in a deep voice, ”You... why have you come back?”

Fu Qingping was blocking the Yan Family and the Immortal Lord with all his might just to buy time for the Wolf Monk and Huangfu Ziyu to flee. Who could have thought that at this moment, the Wolf Monk came back, which naturally made him feel uneasy.

”Though my strength is lacking, how could I let Senior face enemies here alone!” The Wolf Monk stood up, casting a cold gaze at the approaching Immortal Lord in the distance, saying sternly, ”People from Xiaolin Temple will never retreat!”

Listening to the Wolf Monk, a hint of gratification flashed in Fu Qingping’s eyes. Although the return of the Wolf Monk made him uneasy, he greatly admired the monk’s spirit.

”Xiaolin Temple?” The Immortal Lord scrutinized the Wolf Monk from head to toe, eyebrows slightly furrowed. Before entering Mount Du Wang, Xiaolin Temple hadn’t been destroyed yet; its strength was known throughout the land. Encountering someone from Xiaolin Temple now naturally made him somewhat hesitant. After all, Xiaolin Temple boasted countless masters, and the Shakya inside Xiaolin Temple was a figure as renowned as Wuji, someone he dared not provoke!

”The Immortal Senior need not worry, Xiaolin Temple has long ceased to exist for over thirty years now. Today, Xiaolin Temple only has a few monks left, far from its former glory!” Wanyan Hongsheng shouted from afar.

”Xiaolin Temple destroyed?” The Immortal Lord was quite shocked. If Xiaolin Temple’s strength could be annihilated, he’s understandably amazed.

Wanyan Hongsheng laughed, ”Not only destroyed, but slaughtered overnight by their own! Every member of Xiaolin Temple, save for a few who were not there, were killed, leaving none. Xiaolin Temple was also burned to the ground!”

”Such things happened?” The Immortal Lord glanced at the Wolf Monk before him, seeing his gloomy expression yet not refuting, knowing Wanyan Hongsheng spoke the truth.

”Hahaha...” The Immortal Lord laughed heartily, ”A hundred years ago, Xiaolin Temple had such prestige, the source of authentic martial arts. Who’d have thought such a sect would ultimately be destroyed by its own? Hahaha, don’t Buddhists speak of Karmic Retribution? Have you figured out what cause you planted back then?”

The Wolf Monk furrowed his brows, gritted his teeth, and said sternly, ”If you want to fight, then fight. What’s the point of all this nonsense? Immortal Lord, your abundant evil deeds will surely be cautioned for the retribution!”

”Is that so?” The Immortal Lord laughed, ”I wish to see what retribution truly means. How many Xiaolin Temple monks are left? If I kill you, will Xiaolin Temple be gone forever?”

”If you kill him, Xiaolin Temple won’t disappear. But if I kill you, do you guess whether or not you’ll remain dead?”

The Wolf Monk hadn’t yet responded when a voice suddenly came from behind.

The Immortal Lord’s expression changed. The voice came too suddenly and close, indicating the person had already entered the gorge. Yet he hadn’t noticed anyone entering. With his prowess, this was utterly impossible—unless the newcomer’s ability matched his own!

Fu Qingping and the Wolf Monk simultaneously turned back to look. Fu Qingping’s face bore shock and astonishment, while the Wolf Monk was excited, urgently saying, ”Elder Brother!”

At this moment, everyone finally saw, near a rock behind Fu Qingping and the Wolf Monk, a monk swaggering over. The monk wore a greasy robe, seemingly unwashed for ages. His clothes were dirty enough to refine oil from, his scalp stubbly as if shaved with scissors. This appearance, shabby, resembling a beggar more than a monk.

Yet, despite being a dirty monk, not one dared to underestimate him. For this monk was none other than the famed Buddhist Shakya, a counterpart to Taoist Wuji!

There aren’t many people who have seen Shijia in the world, or those who have seen him might not know that he is Shijia. But with that title ”Senior Brother” from the Wolf Monk just now, it was already clear who the person was.

Wanyan Hongsheng took a step back. He never in his wildest dreams thought he would encounter Shijia here. He hadn’t witnessed Shijia’s strength firsthand, but he assumed it wouldn’t be weak. Therefore, he began to contemplate whether he should bring out the Corpse Ghost Dragon. The Corpse Ghost Dragon’s strength should be enough to handle Shijia!

The Immortal Lord looked at Shijia, furrowing his brows tightly and spoke in a deep voice, ”Buddhist Shakya!?”

”Undying old monster,” Shijia sized up the Immortal Lord and said, ”How long have you lived, daring to call yourself undying? That guy in the coffin behind you has lived way longer than you, and even he doesn’t dare claim to be undying. Ah, it’s just like the saying goes: a full bottle makes no sound, a half-full bottle clinks loudly. In front of that ancient fellow in the coffin, how dare you call yourself undying? Don’t you feel embarrassed?”

Shijia always spoke in such a manner, with caustic and cutting words, not leaving the slightest face for anyone. When Ye Qing chatted with him before, he often wanted to kick him in the face. Hearing these few words also made the Immortal Lord have an impulse to kick him in the face.

”Shijia, don’t act arrogant in front of me. Even Wuji can’t kill me, so what can you do?” the Immortal Lord said in a low voice, ”If I were to regain my full strength, you might not be my opponent!”

”I wasn’t planning to fight you!” Shijia glanced at Wanyan Hongsheng and said, ”Wanyan brat, don’t rush to unleash your dog. Buddha Master didn’t come here to fight. Your dog hasn’t fully recovered yet. If it loses an arm or leg in a fight with Buddha Master, how will you explain that to your family?”

Wanyan Hongsheng was already standing by the coffin, ready to release the Corpse Ghost Dragon at any time, but unexpectedly, Shijia said such words to him. He was at a loss for words, mouth agape, not knowing how to respond.

The matter of the Corpse Ghost Dragon was a secret he had not told anyone, and outsiders were completely unaware that the Corpse Ghost Dragon was not dead, let alone that it was with the Wanyan Family. No one could have imagined that Shijia, upon arriving, would immediately point out the issue of the Corpse Ghost Dragon, and also describe its current situation, which utterly shocked Wanyan Hongsheng.

According to Shijia, the Corpse Ghost Dragon currently was indeed in the condition he described, struggling with the integration of its body and clone, requiring daily nourishment with bloodwater. In such a state, it’s best to avoid intense combat, as any mishap in its integration could mean big trouble. For now, the Corpse Ghost Dragon’s main role is intimidation; it won’t be used unless absolutely necessary. Previously, when encountering the Immortal Lord, Wanyan Hongsheng used the Corpse Ghost Dragon to scare him off but didn’t actually unleash it in a fight due to this reason.

The Immortal Lord shot a surprised glance at Wanyan Hongsheng. He didn’t know the situation with the Corpse Ghost Dragon, but hearing Shijia, he realized it wasn’t in good condition.

”Shijia, if you’re not here to fight, then what are you planning to do?” the Immortal Lord asked, glancing at the Wolf Monk, ”Did you come to rescue your junior brother?”

”I didn’t come to rescue him in the first place,” Shijia said, ”I just sensed Wuji’s aura and came to see if he was dead or not. Who would have thought I’d be a step late and instead of meeting him, met you youngsters.”

Wanyan Hongsheng and the others were visibly chilled. They may have been the youngest at sixty or seventy years of age, but in Shijia’s mouth, they were reduced to mere youngsters. Naturally, this rubbed them the wrong way. But they couldn’t refute it either, for Shijia, who was over two hundred years old, had every right to call them youngsters.

The Immortal Lord’s brows furrowed; Shijia seemed to include him among the youngsters, which naturally displeased him greatly.

”If that’s the case, I’ll give you some face,” the Immortal Lord said in a low voice, ”You can take that monk away!”

”Oh, that’s excellent,” Shijia nodded repeatedly, saying, ”Since you’re being so cooperative, things just got easier for us. Junior Brother, they’ve said it, so we can go now.”

”Senior Brother…” The Wolf Monk grew anxious, intending to mention Fu Qingping, but Shijia cut him off, saying, ”Oh yes, make sure to bring all your belongings like money, gold, gemstones, swords, and friends with you; don’t leave anything behind!”

Hearing this, the Wolf Monk instantly felt relieved, realizing that Shijia was telling him to take Fu Qingping along as well.

”Alrighty!” The Wolf Monk hurriedly helped Fu Qingping up.

”Wait a minute!” the Immortal Lord urgently shouted, glaring at Shijia as he spoke in a solemn tone, ”Shijia, I said you could take this monk, but I didn’t say you could take Fu Qingping. This monk is your junior brother, but Fu Qingping has nothing to do with you. I’m giving you face, but that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want!”

”Oh dear me!” Shijia looked at the Immortal Lord and said, ”I can’t do whatever I want? That’s the biggest joke! Undying old monster, why don’t you try not giving me face? Although Buddha Master isn’t here for a fight, if you want to fight, Buddha Master can beat you until blossoms bloom all over your face!”
