Urban Martial Saint

Listening to Wuji’s words, Du Canglang and Wen’er beside him were even more astonished. Especially Du Canglang, who only knew about the power of the Buddha’s Relic within Ye Qing, but had no idea about this demonic power. Hearing Wuji’s explanation now, he was naturally utterly shocked.

Wen’er was also quite awestruck; Shakyamuni of the Buddhist Sect was a world-renowned figure, virtually unbeatable. In the Demon Sect, could anyone’s strength surpass his? How could this be possible?

Wuji, however, was unaware that the demonic power inside Ye Qing came from the Devouring Demon Flower. This Devouring Demon Flower grew from the coffin of the Great Demon King, a result of the condensation of the Great Demon King’s power. In other words, the power of the Devouring Demon Flower was equivalent to the power of the Great Demon King. No matter how powerful Shakyamuni was, he couldn’t surpass the Great Demon King. Naturally, the demonic power within Ye Qing was somewhat stronger than the Buddhist power!

”Taoist Master Wuji, is there any way to seal off the power inside Brother Ye?” Wen’er couldn’t help but ask, being more concerned about Ye Qing’s life and death.

Wuji said: ”There is a way, but the situation is quite tricky now. Even if I seal these two powers inside him, his destiny has run its course, and he may not live much longer. Saving him is not as simple as just sealing these powers within him!”

”Then at least seal these two powers first, to secure his life,” Du Canglang said. ”Isn’t Old Wang Ba from the Iron Calculation Sect? Let him help Ye Qing alter his fate, wouldn’t that be fine?”

”Now, if we were to find someone from the Iron Calculation Sect, I’m afraid it’s too late.” Wuji was silent for a moment, then suddenly looked up at Du Canglang and Wen’er, saying: ”Forget it, you two should leave first. Leave this person to me; I will save him!”

”This…” Wen’er was somewhat worried, but facing a figure like Wuji, she couldn’t say anything more. If even Wuji couldn’t save Ye Qing, then who in the world could?

Du Canglang looked at Ye Qing, then at Wuji, and finally said nothing. In the past, he mainly sought the Buddha’s Relic, but after Ye Qing saved his life today, what remained was gratitude. Besides, he had lost an arm and no longer had the heart for struggle or desires for the Buddha’s Relic. Now, his only concern was Ye Qing’s life and death, given that Ye Qing was his lifesaver!

Though worried, Wen’er eventually left the Gate of the Dead. Since Wuji told them to leave, Wen’er couldn’t stay here any longer; otherwise, she would hinder Wuji’s efforts to save Ye Qing.

Watching Du Canglang and Wen’er leave, Wuji then looked at Ye Qing. The rampant rampage of the two powers within Ye Qing’s body had already caused him to faint from pain, so he had no idea what was happening outside. Moreover, due to the rampage of the powers inside him, Ye Qing’s body was on the verge of collapse, with his skin starting to crack under the strain, signaling the immense pain he was enduring.

”No wonder the power within me has been fluctuating; it turns out it sensed the Buddhist and Taoist magic within you, reigniting the confrontation between Buddhist and Taoist magic.” Wuji whispered to himself, watching Ye Qing: ”The appearance of Buddhist and Taoist magic within your body, and its fusion with your body, really is an occurrence unseen through the ages. What makes your body so special?”

If Ye Qing were awake, he would certainly be shocked by Wuji’s words. When he arrived at the Gate of the Dead, the Buddhist and Taoist magic within him began to fluctuate, causing him to wonder what was happening. It turned out that the two energies within him sensed the Taoist power within Wuji, causing such fluctuation.

Ye Qing had encountered the martial artists of the Scholarly Dao Sect before, but their strength wasn’t enough to threaten the Buddhist and Taoist magic within him. Wuji, however, was different; as the number one person in the Taoist Sect of the present age, his powerful Taoist energy naturally triggered the Buddhist and Taoist magic within Ye Qing. The Buddhist and Taoist magic inside Ye Qing was always on guard, it turned out, against the Taoist power of Wuji. In fact, while the Buddhist and Taoist magic inside Ye Qing was wary of Wuji’s Taoist power, Wuji’s Taoist power also felt the threat!

”With the appearance of The Immortal Lord, the world is in chaos. Yet, there emerges a person like you, who can fuse the Buddhist and Taoist magic. Could it be that all this is destined?” Wuji looked up at the sky and muttered: ”Only, if it truly is fate, why am I unable to discern the trajectory of this fate?”

The sky was quiet, azure, with not a cloud in sight. Wuji stared at the sky for a long time, shook his head helplessly, turned to look at the unconscious Ye Qing, and said, shaking his head: ”So be it, so be it, if it truly is fate, then I will help you this once. Since the world is already in chaos, I have no other choice. I hope you are the one destined to save the world!”

Wuji finished speaking, took out a bamboo flute from his side. This flute looked fresh and green, as if just plucked from newly-grown bamboo after the rain. Wuji placed the flute by his lips, gently playing a melodious tune. Although not loud, the music resonated far through the valley, melodious and pleasing to the ear, immersing people in the sound. Luckily, no one was around to be entranced by it.

As the serene flute music continued, there was an evident change in Ye Qing on the ground. Previously, the violent rampage of the two powers within him nearly tore him apart, with powerful forces continuously assaulting his body. Yet, soothed by the flute’s melody, the two powers within him slowly calmed down, like ferocious beasts being pacified, gradually settling into tranquility, almost like they were being lulled to sleep by the music. Ye Qing’s nearly exploding body finally returned to normal, and his breathing eased, thus securing his life.

Seeing Ye Qing return to normal, Wuji also stopped playing the flute. He put the bamboo flute away, staggered slightly, nearly losing his footing. Wiping the sweat off his brow, he muttered to himself: ”A hundred years old, too much power has been exhausted. Forcibly performing Ancestor Chen Tuan’s Requiem is indeed too draining of vital energy!”

It turned out, the piece Wuji played was the Requiem left behind by Ancestor Chen Tuan. This Requiem indeed had miraculous effects, soothing the two powers within Ye Qing, finally restoring peace to his internal energy. Without Wuji’s timely use of the Requiem to halt the powers within Ye Qing, he likely wouldn’t have lasted much longer. After all, those powers were simply too overwhelming for Ye Qing to endure.

After resting briefly, Wuji again took Ye Qing’s pulse, confirming the two powers within him had regained peace, and let out a sigh of relief. He looked at Ye Qing for a while and said: ”Although the powers within you have temporarily been subdued, having these two powers remain within you is still perilous. Unless you can fully control these powers, they will always threaten to tear you apart. However, the most urgent matter now is not the powers but to help you restore your Qi luck. Well then, since I’m saving you, I might as well help completely. Follow me this time!”

With that, Wuji picked Ye Qing up and slung him over his back, heading into the secret chamber and retrieving the Tianzhu Sword along with its box. Carrying Ye Qing and the Tianzhu Sword, Wuji did not linger at the Gate of the Dead, leaving immediately. Yet, upon exiting the Gate, he did not head back on Ye Qing’s arrival path, but instead ran towards another mountain forest direction.

While Wuji headed in a different direction, Du Canglang and Wen’er walked back the way they came. After leaving the Gate of the Dead, Wen’er suddenly realized something; only she and Du Canglang were left. This Du Canglang, harboring ill intentions and following her, posed a danger to her. Thus, seeing Du Canglang, Wen’er hesitated to proceed, fearing he might suddenly attack her.

Du Canglang noticed Wen’er’s hesitation and guessed her thoughts. He smiled wryly and said: ”Little girl, you don’t have to worry, I won’t harm you. Regardless, Ye Qing saved my life. Though I, Du Canglang, have killed without remorse, I’m not an ungrateful person. Besides, I’ve lost an arm; this world is destined not to be under my control. There’s no point in striving for more, why should I increase bloodshed for no reason?”

Upon hearing this, Wen’er’s heart calmed slightly. Seeing Du Canglang’s blood-stained sleeve where his arm was severed, her heart softened a bit, and she said softly: ”Senior Du, you misunderstood. I am only worried about Brother Ye, unsure if Master Wuji can save him!”

”If even Wuji can’t save him, who else in this world can?” Du Canglang smiled slightly, saying: ”Little girl, you worry too much. Since Wuji has taken this on, he certainly won’t let anything happen to Ye Qing. You should go back and wait; perhaps in some time, Ye Qing will come back to see you in good health!”

Du Canglang’s words reassured Wen’er a bit more; she nodded slightly and said softly: ”I hope so, I hope Brother Ye can return to Shenchuan City soon.”

”Alright, let’s not linger here. Since Wuji asked us to leave, there must be something he doesn’t want us to know, perhaps a secret of the Human Dao Sect.” Du Canglang looked towards the distant mountains and said: ”Besides, we must leave Mount Duwang quickly; otherwise, I’m afraid we’ll encounter people from the Wanyan Family!”
