Urban Martial Saint

Old Fifth Yang drove first to the construction site to pick up Yuan Xiaoyu, and they hurried home together.

Upon seeing Yuan Xiaoyu, Ye Qing couldn’t help but smile. Yuan Xiaoyu was now wearing a suit, looking quite professional. However, she was wearing a safety helmet, which made her look somewhat mismatched.

”Brother, when did you come back? Why didn’t you let us know in advance?” Yuan Xiaoyu was excited when she saw Ye Qing, sitting next to him, she continued, ”Mom and Dad have been thinking about you, always asking if you’ll come back for the New Year. You’ll stay this time, won’t you? You can go back after the New Year.”

”Hehe...” Ye Qing smiled faintly, saying, ”I’m just back to see Mom and Dad this time. Once I’ve taken care of things here, I have to head out again. I’ll come back once things outside are settled.”

”Oh, you always do this. So many things outside, when will you finish them?” Yuan Xiaoyu pouted and said, ”Brother, you’ve finally come back once; you can’t stay for just a few days?”

Ye Qing shook his head with a gentle smile, looking at Yuan Xiaoyu’s safety helmet, he laughed, ”By the way, why are you dressed like this?”

”I forgot to tell you!” Ye Qing’s words made Yuan Xiaoyu instantly shift her focus and excitedly say, ”Brother, do you know what I’ve been doing recently?”

”What are you up to?” Ye Qing reached out to tap the safety helmet on Yuan Xiaoyu’s head, laughing, ”Are you moving bricks at the construction site?”

”Almost!” Yuan Xiaoyu laughed, ”I’ve been interning recently.”

”Interning?” Ye Qing was surprised, ”What kind of internship are you doing?”

”I enrolled in a construction training course, preparing to get a qualification certificate.” Yuan Xiaoyu laughed, ”Fifth Brother specially entrusted me with a lot of tasks in the New District development to train me. I thought such work was easy, but when I came here, I realized it’s not easy at all. You know, I didn’t finish my studies, and coming to the construction site is like being blindfolded, not knowing anything. Although Fifth Brother lets me manage, just think, I know nothing, what can I manage? Later, I realized something was wrong, so I specifically enrolled in a class to study hard. After all, Fifth Brother has given me such a big responsibility, I can’t mess it up, right?”

Ye Qing nodded finally understanding why Yuan Xiaoyu was at the construction site. It seems Old Fifth Yang truly intends to train Yuan Xiaoyu, entrusting her with such important tasks. You know, Yuan Xiaoyu being a supervisor at Old Fifth Yang’s places led to a comfortable life, but she might remain stuck at that position forever. However, learning some real skills is different; this is truly beneficial for her. And overseeing New District construction is no small matter. Previously, such tasks would definitely be under Lin Mengjie’s domain; now they’re assigned to Yuan Xiaoyu, indicating that in Old Fifth Yang’s mind, Yuan Xiaoyu holds nearly the same status as Lin Mengjie!

”Xiao Yu, you must do well!” Ye Qing laughed, ”Fifth Brother has given you such a great opportunity, you must not disappoint his good intentions. Also, since Manager Lin is not here, otherwise this work would totally be managed by Manager Lin. Your current position with Fifth Brother is similar to Manager Lin’s before!”

”I know!” Yuan Xiaoyu beamed, turning to Old Fifth Yang, ”Fifth Brother, don’t worry, I will definitely do my best, and I won’t let you down!”

”Hahaha...” Old Fifth Yang laughed heartily, ”I know, you’re doing quite well here. In a few days, people from Lin Corporation will come for inspection. Are you ready to welcome them?”

”All prepared.” Yuan Xiaoyu said, ”Since I learned of this, I’ve been working on this diligently, absolutely no problem.”

”That’s good!” Old Fifth Yang nodded and said to Ye Qing, ”Ye Zi, your sister is very motivated. Young people have a bright future!”

Ye Qing smiled faintly, without saying anything, but he kept in mind Old Fifth Yang’s regard for his family. Without a doubt, Old Fifth Yang’s care towards his family is impeccable.

Arriving at the gate of the home, Ye Qing finally understood what kind of independent courtyard Old Fifth Yang let his family live in. This independent courtyard was one of the earlier villa areas of Jiuchuan County, fully modeled after outside villa areas, complete with facilities, occupying large space, and in a prime location. Houses here are famously expensive throughout Jiuchuan County. In other places, it’s four to five thousand per square meter, while here, it’s more than ten thousand per square meter, even more expensive than houses in the provincial capital, showing its good conditions.

Just the villa Ye Changwen is currently living in, selling it would fetch over four million. And the interior is so beautifully renovated that costing less than a million is impossible. This house was originally Old Fifth Yang’s old residence; after he built a manor-like villa in the suburbs, this house was idle. He hadn’t planned to rent it out; later, as he got closer to Ye Qing, he let Ye Changwen’s family live here.

Upon arrival, Ye Qing saw Ye Changwen from a distance, standing next to the flowerbed at the gate, watering the flowers with a watering can. In just a few months, Ye Changwen’s spirit had improved significantly, which was due to a better life. You see, before, Ye Changwen used to rely on fixing tires for a living, worrying about living expenses every day, and being bullied by others. Now, he doesn’t need to worry about anything, his spirit naturally improved, watering flowers and strolling daily, living a comfortable life, making many of his old friends envious.

”Dad!” Yuan Xiaoyu shouted excitedly from afar, ”Look who’s here!”

Ye Changwen turned his head and saw Ye Qing, immediately dropping the watering can. Not caring about the can, he walked quickly towards them.

Seeing his father like this, Ye Qing’s eyes reddened slightly. He quickly stepped over to support Ye Changwen, whispering, ”Dad, take it slow.”

”Qingzi, you... finally came back!” Tears streamed down Ye Changwen’s face; an old man’s greatest wish is to have his children stay by his side. However, with Ye Qing’s many responsibilities, though he wished, he didn’t have the time.

Old Fifth Yang also approached, laughing, ”Uncle Ye, you kept asking about Ye Zi, now he’s back.”

”Boss Yang also came.” Ye Changwen quickly turned to instruct Yuan Xiaoyu, ”Xiao Yu, quickly, invite Boss Yang inside, have your mom make some tea.”

”No need.” Old Fifth Yang quickly waved his hand, smiling, ”Uncle Ye, Ye Zi just got back, you should have some family time first. I won’t intrude here. I’ll send someone to pick you up for lunch at noon.”

Old Fifth Yang was considerate, knowing it was family time, an outsider shouldn’t linger. So, sensibly, he left first, allowing Ye Qing’s family to reunite peacefully.

Ye Qing helped Ye Changwen inside the house; his stepmother Zhou Hongxia also came out, seeing Ye Qing she was delighted, completely different from before. Now, she no longer resents Ye Qing, instead intentionally mending the relationship, as her two children rely wholly on Ye Qing.

The house was tidy; its environment was excellent, and the family lived happily here. Especially Zhou Hongxia—having married Ye Changwen, lived the hard life for over ten years, even her family wouldn’t help, fearing she’d burden them. She had lost hope in life, pinning all on her children. She never dreamed she’d one day live in such a good house, enjoy such a life. Even her family came to mend ties, trying to benefit from her situation, greatly satisfying her vanity.

Zhou Hongxia was very aware all this was due to Ye Qing. Therefore, she treated Ye Qing very well now, warmly offering food and tea to him.

After spending some time chatting with his father, Ye Changwen suddenly remembered something, saying, ”Oh, Qingzi, I haven’t told you something yet.”

”What is it?” Ye Qing asked, curious.

Ye Changwen raised his head, ”Hongxia, bring the thing out.”

”Alright.” Zhou Hongxia went into a room, fumbled for a while, and dragged out a suitcase.

Ye Qing looked at the suitcase, puzzled, not understanding what his father and stepmother meant by this.

”This is something someone sent.” Ye Changwen bent down and opened the suitcase.

Ye Qing glanced inside, shocked to see it was filled with money. This much money, probably totaling around ten million.

Seeing the money, those next to him were calm and composed, showing they’d known what it was.

”Where did this come from?” Ye Qing asked in surprise.

”Someone sent it.” Ye Changwen took out an envelope from the suitcase, handed it to Ye Qing, ”Words are written inside, take a look, maybe you’ll know who.”

Ye Qing opened the envelope and took out a note. The note said a few lines—Ye brother, your life-saving grace is unforgettable. Ten million, a humble token of gratitude. Li Qiang.

Ye Qing was stunned, remembering Li Qiang, who he encountered during a massacre last time he was home. He caught Li Qiang, but after understanding his circumstances, Ye Qing sympathized and released him. Unexpectedly, Li Qiang returned the favor so profusely, sending such a large sum.
