Urban Martial Saint

People who didn’t know Shijia were also dumbfounded. Was this crazy monk sworn brothers with Ye Qing? How many years apart are they? How did they become sworn brothers?

”Master, are you sworn brothers with Ye Qing?” Shen Tianjun was the first to ask, ”How come I didn’t know about this?”

”There are lots of things you don’t know. Do you really have to know everything in this world?” Shijia said, excitedly rushing to Ye Qing’s side, ”Brother, tell them, are we sworn brothers or not?”

”When... when did I become your sworn brother?” Ye Qing said exasperatedly.

”Why do you talk like that?” Shijia didn’t blush at all, chattering on, ”You forgot what we said when we became sworn brothers last time. Not born on the same year, same month, same day, but wish to die on the same year, same month, same day, right? Right? Just say it’s right?”

Ye Qing opened his mouth wide, and after a long pause finally said, ”Master, stop messing around, you look like you’re seventy or eighty, right? I’m still young, you want me to die the same year, same month, same day as you? Are you cursing me?”

As soon as Ye Qing said this, many people around laughed secretly, most of whom didn’t know Shijia. However, Shen Tianjun and others were puzzled in their hearts. Shijia was already over two hundred years old and still so energetic, who knows how long he can live. If they really ended up like him, maybe it’s a long life instead.

”Don’t mind these details. The key is, our brotherhood matters, right!” Shijia patted Ye Qing’s shoulder, and the grease on his hand stained Ye Qing’s clothes, but he didn’t care at all. He turned his head and said, ”Little Shen, can my sworn brother’s age participate in the matchmaking?”

Shen Tianjun was stunned for a moment, then immediately understood Shijia’s intention. He was here to support Ye Qing, preparing to let Ye Qing participate in the matchmaking.

Shen Tianjun knew Shijia very well. This person was a high-level reclusive expert, playing around in the mortal world yet always aware of the situation. He seemed crazy, but there was a reason for everything he did. He came this time to help Ye Qing with matchmaking, there must be a reason, though he didn’t know exactly what it was. However, this was quite good. Just now Huang Yidao questioned Ye Qing’s qualifications, but now that Shijia was here to support him, Ye Qing had the qualification to participate in the matchmaking. Moreover, with the help of Shijia and Joyous Monk, Ye Qing’s chances of winning were much higher.

”Of course!” Shen Tianjun laughed, ”The master is a senior expert. Since the master personally came to our Shen Family Manor, it gives us plenty of face. Plus, Ye Qing is the disciple of the Northern Fist King Li San. With this relationship, no matter what, Ye Qing is qualified to participate in this matchmaking.”

”That’s good, let’s not delay. Come on, let’s go, matchmaking.” Shijia called everyone to head into the hall.

”Wait a minute!” Huang Yidao suddenly stood up and said in a deep voice, ”Brother Shen, I’m a straightforward person and can’t hold back what’s on my mind. I don’t know what this master’s status is, but not mentioning whether he’s sworn brothers with Ye Qing, just his coming here shows no respect to us. Between people, there is mutual respect. These two masters don’t even give us the basic respect, yet you treat him as an honored guest. Isn’t that too disrespectful to us?”

Shen Tianjun frowned. It was one thing when Huang Yidao targeted Ye Qing just now, after all, Ye Qing had no support at that time. But now he dared to target even Shijia and Joyous Monk, that’s simply too arrogant. Can he afford to anger Shijia and Joyous Monk?

Before Shen Tianjun could speak, Joyous Monk turned his head and looked at Huang Yidao, ”Why do you talk so much nonsense? What’s this respect or disrespect, who are you to demand respect from Buddha Master? I’ll tell you, if you want to participate in the matchmaking, then get inside properly. If not, then get lost quickly, don’t annoy Buddha Master!”

”What did you say!” Huang Yidao’s face turned cold, he grabbed the long knife at his waist, glaring at Joyous Monk, and said in a deep voice, ”Say it again if you have the guts!”

”Are you asking for a scolding? Want me to say it again, aren’t you comfortable being scolded just once?” Joyous Monk glared, ”If you’re not in, then get lost!”

”What a bald donkey!” Huang Yidao shouted loudly, taking a step forward as he drew his blade with his right hand. As soon as his foot touched the ground, the long blade in his hand slashed down heavily. The distance between him and the Joyous Monk was about five meters, which was originally too far to strike. However, his step surprisingly covered a great distance, almost instantly reaching the Joyous Monk, his movements were extremely swift. Additionally, the blade cut through the air with a sharp whistling sound, indicating the power of this strike. ”One Slice Two Halves”, truly lives up to its name.

Huang Yidao hails from a Martial Arts Family in the Western Province, where his reputation is very well-known, and no one dared to provoke him. From the beginning until now, he hadn’t met a worthy opponent, thus he held himself in high esteem, believing that apart from the Five Uniques, no one in this world could match him. Of course, after witnessing the strength of the Bloody Monk and Dumu Ding Lianshun last night, he added two more people beyond the Five Uniques. However, he remained highly arrogant, not considering the two monks worth his attention. With this strike, he intended to, if not kill the Joyous Monk, at least sever one of his arms as punishment.

Northern Martial Zen and Prince Wan Yan hadn’t seen Huang Yidao in action before, they only knew this man talked a lot. Now that they saw his moves, both of them were startled, realizing that Huang Yidao’s strength was indeed not weak.

However, though Huang Yidao was strong, it depended on who he was facing. The Joyous Monk had fought Prince Nalan for quite some time; although not a match for the prince, he was incredibly formidable. Facing Huang Yidao’s swift strike, the Joyous Monk didn’t dodge but instead extended both hands, directly clamping down on Huang Yidao’s long blade.

Such was the speed of this strike, yet it was easily caught by the Joyous Monk. Crucially, the blade couldn’t move downward at all, being completely controlled by the Joyous Monk, which was something Huang Yidao had never experienced before.

Huang Yidao’s expression changed instantly, finally understanding why the Joyous Monk was so hot-tempered—because he had the capability! But realizing it now was too late. The Joyous Monk, clamping down the blade, simultaneously raised his right hand to press Huang Yidao’s wrist. Huang Yidao involuntarily released his grip, and the long blade was snatched away by the Joyous Monk, who, not pausing, immediately slashed at Huang Yidao with a backhanded strike. Although his speed and strength weren’t as formidable as Huang Yidao’s, the power was still terrifying. Moreover, given their distance and the Joyous Monk’s power, dodging this strike was hardly possible for Huang Yidao.

Huang Yidao, after all, was also a top-tier master, and he remained composed, quickly reaching out to grab the Joyous Monk’s wrist, intending to perform the Barehanded Blade Block. However, before his hand could seize the Joyous Monk’s wrist, the monk’s other hand already came forward, gripping Huang Yidao’s wrist firmly. Huang Yidao’s expression changed, he hurriedly raised his other hand to block the strike. Little did he know, the Joyous Monk was anticipating this; as soon as Huang Yidao raised his hand, the monk immediately threw away the long blade, swiftly grabbing the other wrist, securing both of Huang Yidao’s wrists.

”Hehe...” The Joyous Monk let out a cold laugh, activating his Inner Strength, channeling the Bridal Dress Inner Strength. Huang Yidao initially intended to struggle, but suddenly felt his entire Inner Strength surging out through the acupuncture points on his wrists, flowing into the Joyous Monk’s body, completely unstoppable.

Huang Yidao was appalled, as he naturally understood what this meant. Although he didn’t know what Cultivation Technique the Joyous Monk was practicing, it was undoubtedly terrifying. If his Inner Strength was drained away, the damage to his body would be significant, and most crucially, he would lose his ability to resist, leading to being at the mercy of others!

Despite realizing all this, Huang Yidao couldn’t break free from the Joyous Monk’s grip. The monk took his blade precisely to coax him into action, seize his acupuncture points, and subsequently absorb his Inner Strength, but Huang Yidao was oblivious to this, suffering a great loss and falling utterly passive.

At this tense moment, suddenly a hand stretched out from the side, grabbing Huang Yidao’s back, pulling him away directly. Even with the Joyous Monk’s strength, he couldn’t withstand it, revealing the impressive might of the person who intervened.

As the Joyous Monk looked closely, he saw an additional person standing beside Huang Yidao—none other than Prince Nalan. It was Prince Nalan who intervened to save Huang Yidao. Given Prince Nalan’s strength, it was only natural that the Joyous Monk couldn’t withstand him.

”Nalan Jingwei, what business do you have in my conflict with this surname Huang?” the Joyous Monk said coldly. ”You’re meddling like a dog catching mice, are you so free?”

Prince Nalan already had a grudge against the Joyous Monk. Now that Huang Yidao had a feud with the monk, he considered Huang Yidao his ally. Naturally, he didn’t want Huang Yidao to be defeated by the monk. Thus, he rescued Huang Yidao, which made the latter very grateful indeed.

”This is the Shen Family’s place, and whatever happens here is up to Brother Shen,” Prince Nalan paused, then said, ”Besides, practicing such an evil method that absorbs others’ Inner Strength isn’t an honorable thing. Now you’re causing trouble at the Shen Family Manor. I have been a long-time friend of the Shen Family; I certainly don’t want to see you tarnish its reputation!”

”You speak so nicely, as if you’re well-acquainted with the Southern Fist King,” the Joyous Monk sneered, ”I won’t waste words with you. Nalan Jingwei, the matters between us are far from over!”

Prince Nalan sneered coldly, gave the Joyous Monk a deep look, and turned to Shen Tianjun, ”Brother Shen, it’s getting late. I think we shouldn’t delay any further; the matter of selecting a suitor is very important. Why don’t we start the event now?”
