Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 490: Chapter 470: The Dormitory Struggle (Part 9)

As the time for afternoon classes drew near, the rain had yet to stop. Qin Nuan and Cong Rong had returned, but they were a bit disheveled, with mud splattered on their legs.

”I don’t want to go to class...” Luo Qianqian pouted, packed her backpack, and put on her shorts. She certainly didn’t want to wash her pants while taking a shower.

Qin Nuan rolled her eyes and handed her the umbrella, ”I’m honored to inform you that even if it were raining knives, you’d still have to go.”

Luo Qianqian sulked, but Cao Yingying spoke up, ”Missing one class won’t matter, especially with the weather like this today.” Although she said this, she still got out of bed to pack her things for class.

Luo Qianqian frowned slightly. She was just complaining, but she didn’t really mean to skip class. It seemed strange for someone who verbalized the possibility of slacking off to actually go to class.

As if seeing the look in Luo Qianqian’s eyes, Cao Yingying smiled candidly, ”I really like rainy days. The rain washes away the dust, as if everything returns to where it began, pure and beautiful.”

Luo Qianqian’s fear of thunder was no secret in the dormitory, but thankfully, the sound was much softer with the windows closed.

Hearing Cao Yingying’s words, Luo Qianqian was somewhat moved. Did she regret having targeted Qin Nuan before?

However, she only struggled with the thought briefly before letting it go. After all, the remnants of that rumor-mongering were still etched in her mind. Compared to a classmate with a dubious past who might repent, she would obviously choose her friends. Why should she forgive everyone, as if she were a saint?

”Luo Qianqian, put on another jacket.” Seeing Luo Qianqian daydreaming, Qin Nuan couldn’t help but call out her full name.

Luo Qianqian snapped back to reality, nodded, and watched as Cao Yingying turned and left the dorm, feeling a bit puzzled, ”Why do I feel that something is off?”

”Don’t worry about her,” Qin Nuan said after a pause.

Indeed, Cao Yingying had been acting rather oddly today, and Qin Nuan was quite puzzled. Her words didn’t sound like something Cao Yingying would normally say.

After dressing, Luo Qianqian left with her backpack and umbrella, while Qin Nuan sat down, looking at the three other roommates with a slight frown, ”Did Cao Yingying take the wrong medicine?”

”Why don’t you say she’s possessed?” Zhang Yun laughed, ”She’s been captivated by some novel recently; that might have influenced her.”

”That makes sense,” Qin Nuan frowned, sighed, then relaxed, ”As long as she’s not up to any scheming, she can still be our roommate.”

”That’s easy for you to say. Even if she stops scheming, after everything that’s happened, can you really smooth out a crumpled piece of paper?” Xiu Ran expressed his disagreement, ”Not to mention the issue of her posts about you and Cong Rong, just her getting close to Luo Qianqian... who knows what she’s up to.”

Qin Nuan frowned again. Indeed, the primary concern was her current proximity to Luo Qianqian. Deleting posts didn’t mean they never happened.

The four of them fell silent, while Luo Qianqian was utterly perplexed at this point.

”Cute girl, come to class with me? I don’t know the way,” the blond young man sheltering from the rain at the entrance of the girls’ dormitory said in an awkwardly accented Hanyu.

How did she run into him again???

Luo Qianqian’s mind went on alert, but seeing the young man with water dripping from his hair tips in such heavy rain, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse and nodded with a stern face.

”Do you remember me? I’m Elvis, at noon...”

”I remember,” Luo Qianqian interjected, maintaining an expressionless face.

Elvis noticed Luo Qianqian’s deliberately stern face and pursed his lips, making a pitiful expression, ”Do you dislike me?”

Luo Qianqian wanted to nod but looking inadvertently into Elvis’s eyes, her heart twitched. She sighed inwardly, ”This is what they call a demon,” but she shook her head and said no more.

As if sensing Luo Qianqian’s thoughts, Elvis remained silent for the rest of the walk, and the two reached the academic building in silence.

Luo Qianqian put away the umbrella, and Elvis very naturally took it from her, gave it a shake, and said with slight pride, ”I am a gentleman.”

Recalling what being a gentleman meant later, Luo Qianqian smiled slightly.

Then, seeing that Elvis’s hands were empty except for holding her umbrella, she frowned slightly, ”You didn’t bring your books?”

”Books?” Elvis looked at the backpack Luo Qianqian was carrying, his face tinged with panic, and he voiced with slight annoyance, ”Uncle didn’t tell me.”

”Uh... then you can go buy some.” But it seemed it was too late now. Though she didn’t say it out loud, Elvis understood.

He indeed looked dejected and turned to Luo Qianqian, ”It’s too late now, can I borrow yours to take a look?”

Luo Qianqian was stunned for a moment, then scowled, ”What is your purpose in approaching me?”

Elvis blinked his attractive eyes, ”I like you.”

Luo Qianqian almost choked—could one really say such things so casually?

”Then you just wait for your next crush to lend you books,” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, took the umbrella back, and turned to enter the classroom.

Elvis immediately grabbed her arm, his face serious, ”You have to believe me.”

Luo Qianqian almost tripped when he pulled her and then, hearing his words, frowned, ”I have a boyfriend,” though he was a boyfriend of the future, ”So...”

Elvis’s eyes widened, what? The teacher’s...

”I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you, I just purely want to be around you,” Elvis quickly explained, his face anxious, ”When did you get a boyfriend? Does your family know about this little boyfriend of yours?”

”That’s not for you to worry about. I’m helping you this time, but next time you have to figure it out yourself.” Seeing the looks from passing classmates, Luo Qianqian really couldn’t continue this tangle at the staircase, ”Let’s go.”

Hearing Luo Qianqian’s evasive response, he could only nod helplessly, but he secretly took note of it.

Once inside the classroom, Luo Qianqian sat in the front row, and Elvis immediately sat next to her.

Though Luo Qianqian frowned, she did not object.

Soon, Sun Bin came from behind, handed Luo Qianqian a lollipop, ”Why did you bring your little boyfriend to class today?” yet his gaze shifted towards Xi Meng.

Xi Meng, although her books spread out in front of her, her thoughts drifted to the trio.

Luo Qianqian was about to speak with a light laugh when she heard Elvis fanning the air with his hand and loudly exclaimed, ”Did you spill perfume? What’s that stink?”

The strange voice caused the whole classroom to burst into laughter.

Sun Bin’s face could barely maintain its composure as he looked at Elvis angrily, then glared at Luo Qianqian, and turned away.

”Where’s your gentlemanly demeanor?” Although Luo Qianqian laughed too, she still managed to scold, ”A real gentleman is gentle and generous towards ladies.”

”But...”

”No buts, even if the other person is a garbage collector, a cook, or even a beggar, you must respect them because you are a gentleman.” What he proclaimed, he had to bear the corresponding consequences.
