Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 478: Chapter 458: Interrogation After the Date

”Bro, bro, bro, how do you feel about Sister Congrong?” On the way back, Luo Qianqian immediately claimed the passenger seat without a trace of hesitation, her face full of curiosity.

Luo Yanwu’s cheeks flushed slightly, and he murmured a low ”Hmm.”

”What does ’hmm’ mean? It’s just us siblings here, I’m not great-aunt, why so coy?” Luo Qianqian wasn’t satisfied with Luo Yanwu’s response, and pouted, ”If you’re like this, I won’t let Nuannuan ask Sister Congrong what she thinks.”

”No, no, no.” Luo Yanwu quickly interjected, ”She’s really nice, attractive, gentle, and carries herself well—definitely meets my mom’s criteria for a daughter-in-law.” He hesitated a bit, then lowered his voice, ”I really like her.” His face glowed red, not very noticeable on his dark complexion, but still easily discernible.

Luo Qianqian’s lips curled into a smirk—heh heh heh—she knew it.

”So, should I ask Nuannuan about it now?” Luo Qianqian took out her phone, only to see that she already had a message, slightly raising her eyebrows.

”Hmm... yeah, ask away...” Luo Yanwu murmured hesitantly.

Luo Qianqian didn’t pay him any attention, instead opening the message from Qin Nuan: How’s it going with your third brother?

Luo Qianqian replied coolly: His cheeks are all red, what about Congrong?

The response came almost immediately, and Luo Qianqian opened it: Student Cong’s cheeks are rosy; looks promising.

Before she could reply, another message came in: Haha, does this count as a successful match? Later, you can have your third brother treat us, no need for anything fancy, just the cafeteria will do.

Luo Qianqian replied gleefully: Then tell her my brother really thinks highly of her. I won’t tell my third brother just yet. Have they exchanged phone numbers?

After a while, Qin Nuan replied: Hehe... your third brother was almost ready to give her his bank account password, home address, grandpa’s address, work address, phone number, email, even his work phone and your great-aunt’s number...

Luo Qianqian’s mouth gaped open as she stared blankly at Luo Yanwu.

Luo Yanwu noticed Luo Qianqian’s gaze and, recalling the question she said she’d ask, suddenly stopped the car and turned to her, ”She... doesn’t want to?”

”Huh?” Luo Qianqian was confused. What had she said?

”I see...” Luo Yanwu looked somber as he restarted the car and fell silent.

”Uhm, third brother, what did I say?” Luo Qianqian hesitated before speaking out, ”I’m just shocked that third brother told Sister Congrong everything about himself. So, what were you thinking just now?” Luo Qianqian caught on quickly, and seeing Luo Yanwu’s expression, she had a sinister smile on her face.

”How did you know...” As soon as he spoke, Luo Yanwu realized, and stopped the car again, ”So you mean she agreed?”

”We only introduced you guys, and you haven’t even pursued her. Agreed to what?” Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but roll her eyes out the car window, ”Hurry up and drive, don’t you hear the honking behind us? We’ll talk when we get home.”

Luo Yanwu was momentarily stunned but then drove off, not even waiting to get home. He found a nearby parking lot, ”Let’s talk now.”

”Third brother, even if you’ve never dated, you’ve watched TV dramas, right? Send some flowers, set up a date, then hold roses as you confess with deep emotion: ’Please be my girlfriend,’ or something. You haven’t even done this step. What kind of reply do you expect her to give?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”Even Fourth Brother knows how to confess.”

”Oh, I don’t usually watch TV dramas, so how do I ask someone out on a date?” Luo Yanwu asked earnestly as if he really wanted to learn, and there was nothing odd about their interaction.

Luo Yanwu hadn’t expected his advisor to be underage, but he asked very sincerely, and Luo Qianqian didn’t hide anything, sharing all the ideas she had thought of.

”Just hang out and have meals together when you’re free, call and chat more often, watch movies or go shopping during breaks, explore hidden food spots together, or take her around to see some scenic spots and historical sites...” Luo Qianqian racked her brains for suggestions.

Luo Yanwu nodded thoughtfully and after a moment, he asked, ”Then when can I confess my feelings?”

Hey, he’s getting to the crucial point.

Luo Qianqian mentally gave Luo Yanwu a thumbs up: ”When you feel like it’s not just about eating together anymore, when you want to hold her hand, when you want to embrace her... that’s probably the right time...” Luo Qianqian wasn’t completely sure herself, but it seemed about right.

”Then... when should we get married?” Luo Yanwu pondered and, after a silence, he continued to ask.

”...” Luo Qianqian was speechless inside. Are you thinking too far ahead? They had only met.

”Firstly, you should wait until Sister Congrong is over twenty years old; secondly, when you can’t stand the thought of her being with someone else, when your relationship is stable, you’ve met each other’s parents, both families agree, and you plan to take care of her for the rest of your life, willing to be responsible for your future together... that’s pretty much it.”

”Got it.” Luo Yanwu nodded calmly, started the car, and didn’t say another word until they got home. Luo Qianqian couldn’t figure out what he was thinking, so she could only helplessly report the situation to Qin Nuan.

Qin Nuan actually replied quickly: ”You’re doing better than me. Right now, Cong Rong is buried under her covers not responding to anyone, her cheeks as red as the apple we bought the other day.”

Luo Qianqian snorted with laughter, wishing she could go back to school to see for herself.

”What are you laughing at?” The car stopped, and focused, Luo Qianqian realized they had already arrived at the front door.

She got out of the car somberly, ”I won’t tell you. You’ll have to face Great-Aunt’s interrogation yourself,” she said, carrying her little backpack into the house.

Luo Yanwu was taken aback, a bit of a forced smile on his face. Was the kid holding a grudge because he hadn’t spoken just now? But soon, Ye Qianying might really start an inquisition... With that thought, he felt like making a run for it.

Yet when he saw that Luo Qianqian had entered the house, Ye Qianying came straight out, looking fixedly at his actions.

Luo Yanwu parked the car and resignedly went inside.

As expected, Luo Qianqian had gone upstairs, leaving him to fend for himself.

”Mom...” Luo Yanwu started awkwardly.

”The look on your face says it all. Tomorrow you’ll drive Qianqian to school and then go back,” said Ye Qianying with one glance at him, ignoring him for the rest. Instead, she turned to Jia Ning and Yue Tingyu, who were sitting on the couch watching TV. ”Mom, you’re my witness, I won this one,” she said with a mischievous grin, then extended her hand toward Jia Ning: ”Come on, hand it over.”

Jia Ning gave Luo Yanwu a look, opened her wallet, and handed a card to Ye Qianying: ”Here, take it.”

”Mom, let’s go shopping for clothes for Qianqian and the two kids tomorrow,” said Ye Qianying, waving the card and linking arms with Yue Tingyu. ”I told you, the one Qianqian introduced would definitely catch this boy’s eye, didn’t I?”
