Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 486: Chapter 466: The Dormitory Struggle (Part Five)

By the time they returned to the dormitory, it was almost nine o’clock; they had their arms full of stuff, which they piled onto the table.

Luo Qianqian wore an expression of exhaustion, ”Why did we end up buying such a huge watermelon? We don’t even have a knife big enough to cut it...”

”We have spoons, that’s enough,” Qin Nuan calmly placed the watermelon on the table and set the other items on the floor. She clenched her fist and punched the center of the watermelon.

However, the watermelon merely spun around and remained unscathed.

Qin Nuan grew awkward, ”Ahem, I didn’t hit it at the right angle.” She steadied the watermelon and delivered another punch straight from above.

The next second, a red-faced Qin Nuan, clutching her hand and silently hopping in place with tears almost falling, finally gave up.

Zhang Yun sighed, took the usual fruit knife, made an incision, and gently tapped the watermelon, which then split in two and wobbled on the table.

Qin Nuan’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Luo Qianqian snickered, then quickly smoothed things over, ”Nuannuan’s Inner Strength was stored inside, and later released by the fruit knife. The combination of Yunyun’s Inner Strength and Nuannuan’s Inner Strength from inside out is what opened the melon.”

Cong Rong covered her mouth, holding her phone and laughing at something unknown, while Xiu Ran lying on the bed looking at the watermelon was speechless, ”So, now that it’s cut open, can we finish it?”

Qin Nuan and Zhang Yun exchanged awkward glances.

They hadn’t even digested the hot pot, and now there was this huge watermelon – how were they going to deal with it?

Qin Nuan blinked, picking up half of the watermelon, ”I’ll take this to the dorm manager, Auntie. See if you can cut up and share the rest with the other dorms.”

The suggestion was unanimously agreed upon by the dormitory; they simply couldn’t eat another bite.

The dorm manager was very thankful to Qin Nuan and even brought her two apples in return.

The others who went to distribute the fruit also came back with other food items, such as grapes, peaches, pears, and bananas, making for a complete collection.

Qin Nuan looked at where the watermelon had been and smiled wistfully, ”So, we’ve given away all the watermelon we bought?”

”What else could we do? With the current temperature, it would spoil overnight if not eaten, and since you’ve cut it open we couldn’t just let it go bad, could we?” Cong Rong patted Qin Nuan’s shoulder and laughed, ”Anyway, even if we were to eat it, we couldn’t finish that much. Eating watermelon at night makes you want to visit the bathroom.”

Luo Qianqian froze mid-motion, the action of nibbling on the watermelon pausing.

She was holding a small piece of watermelon that Cong Rong had cut for her to satisfy her craving – now she didn’t know whether to eat it or not.

”Look at you, playing favorites – cutting some for Qianqian and not saving any for me,” Qin Nuan complained jokingly upon seeing the watermelon in Luo Qianqian’s hands, yet there wasn’t a trace of unwillingness on her face.

”Oh, really? If you can eat it, I’ll go buy another one right now,” Cong Rong didn’t hesitate to expose her pretense.

Luo Qianqian finished the watermelon in a few bites and patted her belly, ”Honestly, I feel so full I don’t want to move again...”

”Luo Qianqian, hurry up and help clean all this up. Don’t think you can slack off just because you’ve eaten too much,” Qin Nuan sternly pulled her up from the stool, as being so full before bed wouldn’t make for comfortable sleep.

Luo Qianqian responded and opened the cabinet, stuffing things into it without regarding the expressions of others, pretending to be at ease, ”See, I’ve got it all handled by myself.”

”Luo Qianqian! Can you put the fruit at the very bottom??? Are you really not afraid of it going bad and attracting insects?” Qin Nuan was filled with helplessness in her eyes, and she took them out one by one, furrowing her brows, ”Are you on your period?” She was holding a box of something also known as ’angels with wings.’

Luo Qianqian was startled, ”Huh? If I was on that, would I still dare to eat spicy food? Am I not afraid of pain?” She looked at the item and propped her chin thinking, ”This was what Sister Xiu Ran was looking at before.”

Xiu Ran, who was suddenly named, was also startled and looked at the item in Qin Nuan’s hand. Before she could explain, Qin Nuan placed it in her hands, ”You can’t put this with the food. It would be so embarrassing if it got opened.”

Xiu Ran opened her mouth but didn’t end up explaining anything, just silently nodding her head.

”Luo Qianqian, don’t tell me this popping candy is also something someone else wanted to buy?” Qin Nuan was speechless looking at the big bag of snacks filled with various flashy little things.

Luo Qianqian blinked, ”I wanted to eat it, what about it? Does that mean I’m not single?”

Qin Nuan was, astonishingly, at a loss for words.

Indeed, Luo Qianqian had a boyfriend in the past and had even met his parents, but she was still single now.

Organizing the cabinet reluctantly, just as she was about to say something, Cao Yingying came back and was startled to see everyone busily engaged.

Seeing Luo Qianqian, she squeezed out a smile, ”How was today?

The nervousness in her eyes could not deceive Luo Qianqian, let alone Qin Nuan.

”It was okay. We’ll know once we check the surveillance footage,” said Luo Qianqian calmly, given that the evidence was already in her hands.

”Surveillance?” Cao Yingying was startled.

”Yeah, we’ve gotten the seating number at the internet cafe, and the time as well. The next step is to discuss with the internet cafe owner and check the corresponding surveillance footage for that time slot to know who it was,” said Luo Qianqian with a smirk, deliberately omitting to mention she had already seen the surveillance, full of resentment, ”If I find out who it was, I won’t let her live in peace!” Her face showed such deep resentment, it successfully made Cao Yingying shiver.

Qin Nuan lowered her head; the mockery in Luo Qianqian’s eyes was far too apparent, and she was afraid she would burst out laughing.

But she felt not the slightest sympathy. If someone had the guts to spread rumors, they had to be ready to face the consequences. A smile formed on her lips, ”No rush. If they fall into your hands, how could they expect to escape unscathed?”

Her comforting hand touched Luo Qianqian’s shoulder lightly, her half-closed eyes filled with disdain, but no one could see it.

Cao Yingying watched the interaction between the two with resentment, a flash of madness crossed her face, then she returned to normal, nodding indifferently, ”Exactly.”

This attitude made Qin Nuan more vigilant than ever. If it were the usual unmasked fits of temper, she wouldn’t care, but this calm behavior was indeed worrisome.

Luo Qianqian felt the hand on her shoulder gripping firmer and frowned slightly as she looked at Cao Yingying, who revealed a determined smile in her eyes, her forehead tightly furrowed, she warned, ”Exactly, anyone who dares harm my Nuannuan, no matter in what way, even just mentally, I will certainly take my revenge!”

Qin Nuan felt touched by the meaning in Luo Qianqian’s words and hugged her tightly, pretending to be nonchalant, ”Just rambling. Who would dare provoke you, you petty person? What do I have that’s worth envying? Or could it be because I have you as a family member?”

Cao Yingying would never have imagined that the deepest bond between Qin Nuan and Luo Qianqian wasn’t the ’brother falling for a friend’ one that emerged later on, but rather, a similar past experience.

And this experience could not be sought only encountered - who could know what might happen?
