Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 236: Chapter 205: Bright Pearl Island

Wang Yi thought the Lord class was more fun. Managing a territory, building it up, spawning troops, and waging war; opening blind boxes, hatching pet eggs, and freely customizing his domain—these were all things Adventurers couldn’t enjoy.

And if you wanted pure combat power, that was possible too!

In short, being a Lord didn’t mean you were a pushover in combat.

Zhao Mei and Wang Yi chatted idly for a while longer, and before they knew it, the Galaxy Airship had arrived at Bright Pearl Island.

Wang Yi glanced down. Bright Pearl Island floated in the sea, much larger than Mengbai Island. Piers dotted its perimeter, and the island itself was filled with numerous buildings, clearly indicating a large population. To the north lay a continent, but that territory was no longer part of the Golden Sparrow Country.

”We’re here. That’s the resurrection point. Let’s head straight over!”

Zhao Mei pointed toward the center of the island. Wang Yi followed her finger and saw a dark green, coral-like mountain peak. The area around it was bustling with a lively crowd.

Wang Yi landed the Galaxy Airship in an open space. After storing the airship with his Starlight Bracelet, he took a closer look at the dark green mountain and couldn’t help but nod in approval.

’This is no ordinary mountain!’

Specks of fluorescent light shimmered on its surface. Devoid of any plants, it looked like a cross between coral and a bizarre tree stump, wreathed in wisps of a strange, pale green mist.

Wang Yi’s Eye of Insight activated, revealing some information about the dark green mountain: ”Spirit Wood Mountain, a peculiar Spiritual Energy Mountain. It continuously releases Wood Spirit Energy, forming a unique energy field that affects the surrounding environment and ecosystem. It has only benefits and no drawbacks.”

’So it’s Spirit Wood Mountain. A fine mountain indeed! It’s a bit like Profound Ice Mountain. If it’s a mountain, I can refine it. Let’s see how much Chaos Energy this will cost!’

Wang Yi’s spirits lifted. As a ”Mountain and River Collector,” his instinct upon seeing such a magnificent mountain was to refine it into his body and add it to his collection.

At that moment, Zhao Mei said, ”There’s no time to waste. I’m going to kill myself by jumping off a cliff. I should respawn at the foot of the mountain pretty quickly. Lord, just wait for me here. I’ll run back as soon as I respawn! There are Indigenous People on the island who are savage and unreasonable. If I’m not back within an hour, I’ve likely been captured by a Slave Lord. If that happens, please go look for me in the slave market. This island has a slave trade, and the Island Lord is a native with a class, supposedly with ties to the royal family of the northern Ancient Barbarian Country.”

”Alright, got it.”

Wang Yi nodded. ’I’ve learned a few new things,’ he thought. ’The northern continent is home to the Ancient Barbarian Country, and there’s actually a slave market here. I can check it out after I’m done with this.’

Zhao Mei, who was clearly familiar with the place, quickly hurried away.

Wang Yi, in turn, summoned his Bronze Vintage Car and drove closer to Spirit Wood Mountain.

Once he was a bit closer, Wang Yi activated [Commanding Mountains and Rivers] and received a system prompt: ”Ding! Spirit Wood Mountain is currently 126 meters tall. It is a special energy peak and a natural wonder. Refinement requires 9,980,000 Chaos Energy. Do you wish to proceed?”

’A paltry 9.98 million? Continue!’

At Wang Yi’s command, the Chaos Energy was deducted, and the dark green mountain immediately began to tremble.

The Players and Indigenous People milling around Spirit Wood Mountain noticed the change and immediately fell into a commotion.

”What’s going on? An Earthquake?”

”Spirit Wood Mountain is shaking!”

”The mountain, the mountain—it looks like it’s about to uproot itself!”

”Is some kind of treasure about to appear?”

”Looks like a story quest is about to start!”

”Spread out, spread out! I’m gonna go catch some slaves!”

”No Players have respawned recently. Where are you going to find slaves to catch?”

”Hey, who’s that new guy?”

”Quick, look! Someone over there is cosplaying as Emperor Qin Shi Huang!”

”Damn, this guy really went all out. A Black Dragon Robe, a Bronze Vehicle... He actually looks the part!”

”Haha, look at him posing on his Bronze Horse Carriage!”

”Holy crap, his name is Yang Jian, True Monarch Xiansheng!”

”What? Erlang God?”

”Forget about Yang Jian for a second. Just tell me, does he or does he not nail that Emperor Qin Shi Huang cosplay?!”

”It couldn’t be Erlang God using a Great Divine Technique to rip out Spirit Wood Mountain, could it?”

”His ID info is definitely fake. Let’s go! We’ll capture him and sell him as a slave!”

Several Players quietly approached Wang Yi.

Among them was a female Player in grayish-white linen clothes. She was tall with a high ponytail, fair-skinned, and rather pretty, with a cold and aloof aura.

This female Player was none other than Shen Xingnan, the former Lord of Mengbai Island. She had since changed her class to ”Slave Lord” and was now armed with a long saber, a whip at her waist, and a coil of rope on her back.

She didn’t recognize Wang Yi and crept closer, intending to capture him and sell him as a slave.

The few people around her had the exact same thought.

Bright Pearl Island offered a class-change path to become a ”Slave Lord.” Of the Players who respawned here, roughly one-third became Slave Lords, another third were captured as slaves, and the final third were fortunate enough to escape the island entirely.

”Cosplaying as Emperor Qin Shi Huang out here? What a freak! Go, smash his Bronze Horse Carriage, grab him, and we’ll sell him as a slave!”

Shen Xingnan suddenly yelled, and the few people with her, following her command, immediately lunged at Wang Yi.

Seated in his Bronze Horse Carriage, Wang Yi remained unmoved.

He possessed the Mountain and River Body Refinement, so his was no longer a Mortal’s body. He paid no mind to a few lowly Slave Lords.

So, even though he’d noticed them approaching long before, he simply ignored them and continued his Refinement of Spirit Wood Mountain.

The next moment, the Slave Lord Players actually surged forward and started smashing the Bronze Vintage Car. Then, in an instant, they were all stripped bare as the system forcibly liquidated all their possessions to compensate Wang Yi!

Furthermore, the system flagged them as ”debtors” and slapped them with a void debt.

Even Shen Xingnan was no exception. She had only kicked one of the Terracotta Horses, but that single kick cost her everything she owned. She was left standing stark naked, without even underwear, and now owed Wang Yi 5 Gold Coins.

Wang Yi swept his gaze over Shen Xingnan. ”Her figure is just average.”

Shen Xingnan’s face instantly turned beet red. But the woman was fierce; ignoring her own nakedness, she snatched a rock from the ground and charged at Wang Yi again.

Wang Yi snorted. Swiping his left hand over his Starlight Bracelet, he single-handedly pulled out a submachine gun from the World of Suffering. RAT-A-TAT-TAT! He opened fire, instantly obliterating Shen Xingnan into a flash of white light.

”Ding! You have killed Slave Lord Shen Xingnan. Lord Experience +300!”

”Ding! Debt is canceled upon death. Player Shen Xingnan’s debt has been cleared!”

Wang Yi shook his head as he received the system prompts.

’Death cancels debt!’

’So she doesn’t have to pay up?’

’What a ripoff. I let her off easy! Shen Xingnan, oh, Shen Xingnan. You died once on Mengbai Island, and now a second time here. You still ended up dying by my hand. Why even bother?’

Shaking his head, Wang Yi aimed his gun at the other naked Players and barked, ”Anyone else?”

Those Players were quick-witted. Without a word, they turned tail and ran for their lives.

「Meanwhile, in World of Suffering #356」

Beside a Dark Sea Trench at the bottom of the ocean, the Abyss Gazer, Luo Ye, spoke leisurely. ”Another Sufferer has arrived. I wonder when the corresponding Newbie World will activate its world quest. When will that Sun Wukong come to these waters to meet me and begin the Abyssal’s quest?”

Below, the trench gaped like an abyss, churning with dark undercurrents. Trapped within them, Shen Xingnan’s consciousness was tossed about wantonly, like a scrap of driftwood.

She felt like she was drowning. The world spun around her; she couldn’t see, hear, or scream. The pain was excruciating.

After what felt like an eternity, the torrent seemed to slow. Shen Xingnan suddenly spotted a glimmer of light ahead. As if grasping at a lifeline, she fought her way desperately toward it.

In the next instant, her world shifted, and Shen Xingnan found herself inside a cave.

”Ding! You have entered the World of Suffering and become a Sufferer!”

”Ding! This World of Suffering operates under an ecological order. The essence of this ecology is symbiosis, circulation, and Evolution; the soul is also a part of it. As the world’s Eco-Dominator has been eliminated, Sufferers have gained a degree of freedom. You now have the chance to reincarnate, be reborn as an Earth Deity Beast, or perform a permanent descent.”

”Ding! You have descended via an ecological anchor point into a Transmutation-type Earth Deity Beast, the Flower Fox Spirit. You are subordinate to the King Deity, the Mountain Lord. Remaining descent time: 3 hours, 29 minutes. Do you wish to select permanent descent?”

”Ding! Reminder: If you choose permanent descent, you will be bound to this Flower Fox Spirit until its death!”

Shen Xingnan was startled. Only then did she realize she had become a strange little fox, with peculiar little flowers sprouting from her fur.

”This...”

Shen Xingnan was filled with regret, but what was done was done. After a moment of consideration, she said, ”I choose permanent descent!”

「Typhon World, Huaguo Mountain Territory, Eggshell Pier.」

Great Benefactor Zhao and the others had finally reached a decision about their settlement. The Zhao Family patriarch, wearing a benevolent expression, cupped his hands toward Jelena and asked, ”May I ask your name, young lady?”

”Jelena Wang.”

Jelena replied calmly.

Pei Xue added, ”Our Young Miss is the Lord’s daughter, the future City Lord of Eggshell City!”

”Ah, the Little City Lord. Forgive my lack of courtesy,” Great Benefactor Zhao said. ”We have made our decision. We will give up the Sky Ship.”

”Oh? That’s an unexpected decision. So, you intend to select a site and establish your own settlement?”

Great Benefactor Zhao shook his head and cupped his hands once more. ”Little City Lord, there’s no need for all that trouble. It would be enough for us to live within the city itself. We don’t need a separate village or a special place to live together.”

Jelena’s eyes brightened at his words. ”That is certainly possible! Pei Xue, please make the arrangements. See how many Eggshell Houses and Ecological Houses we have available in the village and if we can accommodate all the members of the Zhao Family.”

”Yes, ma’am!”

Pei Xue bowed in acknowledgment.

The members of the Zhao Family were overjoyed at this, and a smile appeared on Zhao Wukang’s face as well.

It had been his idea for the Zhao Family to abandon the Sky Ship and the notion of an independent settlement.

’This place is truly extraordinary. My niece was right to move the Zhao Family here, no matter the cost,’ Zhao Wukang thought to himself. ’But as for me... what is my path forward?’

Jelena then approached him. ”Sir, if you are not busy, would you please accompany me to Eggshell Castle? I would like to consult with you on the matter of settling the Zhao Family.”

”I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare!” Zhao Wukang waved his hands in dismissal. ’Who am I? I’m just a Mortal. And she... she is a favored daughter of heaven, the future Lord of the City, yet she’s treating me with such courtesy.’

”There’s no need to be so formal, Sir. After all, this will be your home from now on, too.”

Jelena smiled sweetly and began to brief Zhao Wukang on the current state of Eggshell Village.
