Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 232: Chapter 202: A King’s Title and an Imperial Marriage

According to the results from the Talent Assessment Machine, Zhao Wenliang was a man of great literary talent, well-versed in poetry and song. He possessed a flexible mind and was skilled in negotiation, disguise, business, and management. He was an elite-level talent with a comprehensive score as high as 82!

Tang Xian practiced Martial Arts and currently possessed about elite-level combat strength. He was detail-oriented, emotional, arrogant, and ruthless, but he was skilled in manual manufacturing and had the potential of a master craftsman. He was also an elite-level talent, with a comprehensive score of 81!

Even Lu Datong was an elite-level talent with a comprehensive score of 81. He was bold and reckless, but his hands-on and learning abilities were extremely strong, and his memory was astonishing. Surprisingly, his skills lay in business and scientific research!

’The people sent by the Court really are extraordinary. To think they’re three elite talents...’

Wang Yi felt a surge of emotion. He had just used the Talent Assessment Machine at the docks, but everyone he assessed was an ordinary person; very few had a comprehensive score over 70. Most of those people came from poor backgrounds, were illiterate, uncultured, and had very average Physiques.

Perhaps they would show their talents in the future, but for now, they couldn’t be considered talent.

Zhao Wenliang cupped his fists toward Wang Yi again and said, ”Sir, to be perfectly honest, we do indeed have a secret decree from the inner palace and a military secret order for Sun Wukong. We implore you to make an introduction for us.”

After speaking, he gave Tang Xian a look. Tang Xian was stunned for five seconds before reacting. He took out a money pouch from his robes, presented it to Wang Yi with both hands, and said, ”I’ve been getting by in the palace for a long time and have delivered my share of edicts. It’s always been others giving me a little something for my trouble, never the other way around. Please, sir, do us this favor.”

Wang Yi delightedly took the money pouch and said, ”Now that’s more like it! Alright, just tell me whatever it is you need!”

As he spoke, he once again started punching and kicking the Bronze Vehicle. ’I need to fix this thing quickly,’ he thought.

Zhao Wenliang and Tang Xian looked at each other, then huddled together to converse for a moment. Afterward, Zhao Wenliang approached Wang Yi, took out a golden silk scroll, and said, ”I have come under orders. This is a Secret Order Scroll from the military, jointly issued by Lord Yan Bingzhang of the Imperial Censorate, the Xiaoliang State Preceptor, Lord Gu Qing of Tianhong Temple, and Marshal Chenliu of the Forbidden Army. It is an invitation for Lord Sun Wukong to enter the capital, receive the title of Jade King, and discuss important matters of state and military!”

”Receive the title of Jade King?” Wang Yi raised an eyebrow. ”Have you guys not read Journey to the West? Is this an offer of amnesty?”

Tang Xian also produced a golden silk scroll. ”I have a secret decree from the inner palace here as well. If Lord Sun Wukong agrees to serve the Court, the Empress Dowager will bestow Princess Longyu in marriage. This Princess Longyu is the number one beauty in the world, a Natural Beauty whose looks could eclipse the moon and shame the flowers. Please pass this on, Sir. Lord Sun must not miss this chance for a wonderful marriage.”

Wang Yi took the two scrolls, feeling very strange inside. He said, ”Your Court is quite a mess, isn’t it? Ministers are ennobling kings, the Empress Dowager is arranging marriages... and how old is this Princess Longyu?”

Tang Xian replied, ”Reporting to you, Sir, Princess Longyu is in her twentieth year, in the prime of her youth!”

”Twenty years old? And she’s already the most beautiful woman in the world? Who gave her that title? I don’t buy it!” Wang Yi said. ”You three, tell me honestly, what’s the real situation at the Court? Why would you come to this poor, remote place for no reason to make Sun Wukong a king?”

Zhao Wenliang hesitated for a moment, then said, ”I won’t hide it from you, Sir. The Emperor’s death is imminent, but a new emperor has not been decided. The royal court is in chaos, with the inner palace, the civil court, and the Forbidden Army each forming their own factions. King Dongsheng, the Southern King, and King Beimang are all acting independently. Amidst this chaos, the Western Celestial Net has invaded, starting a war in the Western Domain. Internal strife and external threats have erupted at the same time.”

”So, the Court wants to recruit Sun Wukong to go fight a war? Who the hell came up with that idea?”

The three men, Zhao Wenliang and his companions, were taken aback. This time, Tang Xian spoke up. ”The three of us are just following orders. As for the person who recommended the Sun King, that would be the Xiaoliang State Preceptor! The Xiaoliang State Preceptor only recently joined the Court but already controls nearly half of the officials. She is truly extraordinary. The many people she has recommended have all enjoyed meteoric rises!”

’The Xiaoliang State Preceptor... must be a Player, right?’

A suspicion formed in Wang Yi’s mind. To know the name Sun Wukong and even send people all the way here to ennoble him—only a Player who had grasped some information through the system could pull that off.

Zhao Wenliang said, ”Sir, we’ve given you the secret decrees. We hope you’ll take the trouble to ensure they are delivered into Lord Sun Wukong’s hands. The three of us are waiting to return and report on our mission...”

”I know!” Wang Yi nodded. ”I’ll give you an answer in three days!”

”Three days is a bit long!” Zhao Wenliang muttered, then added, ”May I ask, Sir, are there any post stations or inns here where we can rest? Where should we wait for your reply?”

Wang Yi said, ”There are no inns here, but you could work some odd jobs. How about this: you three wait a moment. Once I’ve fixed the vehicle, I’ll arrange a good place for you!”

With that, Wang Yi focused on ”fixing” the vehicle.

Five minutes later, under the utterly incredulous gazes of Zhao Wenliang and the others, the Bronze Vintage Car miraculously restored itself.

Wang Yi climbed gleefully onto the Bronze Vintage Car. This time, he had earned a full 475 Gold Coins from the repair fee! If he also counted the 320 he was owed by Lu Datong, that was a total profit of 795 Gold Coins!

Moreover, the Bronze Vintage Car had been Enhanced a bit, and it now had nine Terracotta Horses pulling it.

”Keep up! Giddy-up, giddy-up!”

Wang Yi shouted loudly.

Zhao Wenliang and his two companions looked at each other and ultimately chose to follow.

But Wang Yi had only driven three hundred meters, just past the gate tower of Shanhai Pass, when he stumbled and jumped out of the vehicle again.

The vintage car had broken down again. This time, a Terracotta Horse’s leg had fallen off.

Wang Yi cursed and swore as he punched and kicked it back into shape, then continued on his way.

After that, it basically broke down every three or four hundred meters, and Wang Yi cursed nonstop the entire way.

Zhao Wenliang and the other two could walk much faster than the Bronze Vehicle. They even had time to wait by the side for Wang Yi to fix it.

They simply couldn’t understand this strange Lord Yang Jian. They even suspected he was suffering from hysteria, as he seemed quite mad.

About an hour after passing the Shanhai Pass gate tower, Wang Yi arrived next to the Capsule Factory.

There was an open area here. Wang Yi took out the [Watch Factory Construction Drawings] and finally managed to successfully build the Watch Factory.

The Watch Factory didn’t take up much space. It was a sealed, circular building that looked like a small workshop. The inside was very neat and clean, with three crystal countertops that served as workbenches. On each workbench were several pieces of precision equipment which could be used to manufacture ”Compass Watches.”

As for raw materials, one could use either real materials or Gold Coins to purchase virtual ones.

At the back of the Watch Factory, there was also a bulletin board with a lot of information about compasses and the Four Great Inventions. One could learn a fair bit about production techniques and some useless knowledge there.

’Only three workbenches... it really is a small-scale workshop. Looks like I’ll definitely need to build more Watch Factories in the future...’

Wang Yi thought to himself that since three elite talents had arrived, he couldn’t just let them go so easily.

Besides, they were Court officials, so he couldn’t let them wander around Eggshell Village.

So, having them make watches here seemed like a good idea.

”Hey you, the one wearing newspapers, come over here. I’ll teach you how to make watches; you’re short on cash! Eunuch Tang, you come have a look too! And Lord Zhao, it won’t hurt to learn a new skill...”

Wang Yi beckoned Zhao Wenliang and the other two to come closer and demonstrated how to make a watch.

He was actually learning as he went, but thankfully, the mechanical operation of the workbench was very simple. By spending a few Gold Coins on virtual materials, things like the watch face, strap, and case could all be easily made, and assembly was also very straightforward.

In less than ten minutes, Wang Yi had produced a mechanical watch. The virtual materials he chose were low-end, so the watch could only be considered mid-to-low tier. The total cost was just one Gold Coin.

”Take a look. This is a watch. The three golden hands show the time, and there’s an extra red hand that always points due south. There’s an instruction manual on the back. You guys take a look, learn how to make them. I’ll give you 300 Gold Coins and three Fasting Pills. You will stay here and make watches. In three days, I’ll come find you. You are to give me 300 watches, and in return, I will give you the answer as to whether Sun Wukong will go to the capital!”

As he spoke, Wang Yi took out the Gold Coins and Fasting Pills, then left the stunned Zhao Wenliang and his companions behind and exited the Watch Factory.

Soon, two Feng Yuxiu appeared at the entrance of the Watch Factory, standing guard.

It was a long while before the three Imperial Envoys finally snapped out of it.

Zhao Wenliang said, ”Are we... under house arrest? Oh, it’s more than that. We’re being put to forced labor too?”

Tang Xian toyed with the watch Wang Yi had left behind and said, ”This object is truly exquisite. Things made by Aliens are indeed extraordinary.”

Lu Datong flew into a rage, ripped the newspapers off his body, and roared, ”House arrest? You underestimate my Martial Arts! I’m breaking out of here!”

The Commander of the Imperial Guard fearlessly charged toward the Watch Factory’s exit and quickly engaged the guarding Feng Yuxiu in battle.

Two minutes later, he was dragged back inside, his face bruised and swollen, with two of his teeth knocked out.

The two Feng Yuxiu, looking as if nothing had happened, returned to their posts at the entrance.

Zhao Wenliang and Tang Xian were stunned.

They both knew Lu Datong’s Martial Arts were very strong. He could be considered a top-tier master in the army, having fought his way through the three armed forces with few rivals.

But they never imagined he couldn’t even defeat two gate guards here.

”Forget it. Let’s just obediently make watches!”

”It seems we have no other choice!”

Zhao Wenliang and Tang Xian sighed in resignation, but they soon walked over to the workbenches and began making watches in a practiced manner.

A moment later, Lu Datong woke up. He didn’t say another word about escaping. He sat on the floor in a daze for a while, then went to make watches too.

Meanwhile, Wang Yi had finally managed to drive his Bronze Vintage Car to the First Dining Hall.

He took out the two Secret Order Scrolls. ’This stuff is pretty much the same as a Holy Decree,’ he thought.

But for the mere Jinque Country Court to issue a Holy Decree to ”Sun Wukong”... that was just too absurd!

However, it wasn’t that Wang Yi didn’t care about this matter.

’Known information so far: the Golden Sparrow Country is facing severe internal and external crises. The Emperor could kick the bucket at any moment, and a successor hasn’t been chosen. In the inner palace, the Empress Dowager is meddling in politics. The royal court is split into factions. Yan Bingzhang of the Imperial Censorate, the Xiaoliang State Preceptor, and Gu Qing of Tianhong Temple are likely one group. Marshal Chenliu of the Forbidden Army and some Military Generals are likely another. And there are Players mixed up in all this...’

’Also, besides King Dongsheng and the Southern King, there’s also a King Beimang. They’re all governing their own territories! In the west, there’s an invasion by the Celestial Net. That must mean the Celestial Net Country, right? I think Bai Xianyi is from the Celestial Net Country!’

’So, what should my ”Sun Wukong” do at a time like this? Should I become the Jade King? Should I marry the world’s most beautiful woman, Princess Longyu?’

’The affairs of the mortal world are so complicated. An ordinary person probably couldn’t even sort out all the stakes involved. Fortunately, my Combat Power is already extraordinary, so I don’t need to pay attention to all these connections. Still, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to find a Military Advisor to analyze this for me...’

Wang Yi mused silently. The reason he had come to the First Dining Hall was precisely to find a Military Advisor.
