The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 724- Battle of Blacktide (8)

”Come. Show me the power of humanity’s finest knights. Let’s see whether your Holy Energy or my shadow power triumphs.”

On the ground, Reinhardt raised his sword. Golden light continuously erupted from his body and pushed back the darkness.

Without taking his eyes off Mammon, he spoke to the person next in command.

”Drsytan, you take charge. I will handle this one.”

Now that a Heavenly King had shown himself, he could not let it roam freely.

”Understood.”

Drsytan and the others nodded, quickly opening some distance and mounting their strongest defense. In this battle between those at the peak, all they could do was stay out of his way.

Up in the sky, when Mammon heard Reinhardt, he sneered.

Did this Divine Paladin think they were equals?

It looked like he needed to show humanity the true power of the demons once again.

The battle began the instant Reinhardt raised his sword.

Swish...

Mammon disappeared from his position. He was so fast that there was almost no visible movement.

Only a ripple spread across the surrounding shadows.

The next moment...

BOOM...

The place where Reinhardt had been standing exploded. Dark pillars burst from the ground like gigantic fangs, swallowing stone, earth, and steel alike.

Entire sections of the fortress wall vanished beneath the writhing sea of shadows.

However, Reinhardt was already gone.

A white flash streaked across the sky.

”Hm?”

Mammon looked upward and noticed something surprising.

Under Reinhardt’s boots, brilliant white platforms materialized one after another. Each time his foot landed in the empty air, a pedestal formed beneath it before immediately shattering into countless motes of light.

He wasn’t flying.

He was... actually running through the sky.

Step...

Step...

Step...

Every time he stepped through the air, a white platform appeared, allowing him to achieve the effect of running through the sky.

Within just a few seconds, he crossed dozens of meters.

Seeing this, Mammon’s eyebrows rose.

”What an amusing trick. However, it is very audacious of you to challenge me in the sky.”

Reinhardt didn’t answer and simply swung his Holy Sword, Galgano.

A beam of Holy Energy cleaved through the heavens.

Mammon smiled and dissolved into shadow.

The holy slash carved through the clouds instead.

”Too bad you missed. Aim better next time.”

A whisper sounded out behind Reinhardt.

Several black chains erupted from empty space, each covered in ghostly mouths that continuously shrieked. They wrapped toward his arms and legs.

Reinhardt calmly turned around and made a simple arc with his sword.

Clang...

Golden sparks scattered, and the shadow chains instantly disintegrated before even touching him.

Seeing his attack achieve no effect, Mammon clicked his tongue.

”Tch.”

His figure dissolved once more.

The next moment, shadows spread beneath Reinhardt.

Ten...

Hundreds...

Thousands...

Every shadow separated into countless black silhouettes, quickly transforming into humanoid Shadow Soldiers that attacked the Divine Paladin simultaneously.

Some wielded claws, others carried spears, and others merged together to transform into giant forms.

Even with Reinhardt’s speed, it was impossible to dodge every single attack.

It became impossible to distinguish reality from illusion.

The sky itself darkened beneath the sheer number of Shadow Soldiers.

Below, watching the fight, the knights unconsciously held their breath.

”There are too many.”

They couldn’t help but comment.

The level of this fight was already beyond that of many knights.

In the sky, Mammon’s laughter echoed from every direction.

”Can you find me? How about you try to disintegrate all of them now?”

The shadows converged, and an entire ocean of darkness swallowed Reinhardt.

BOOM...

The collision shook the heavens.

Darkness consumed everything.

Mammon folded his arms, watching his handiwork.

”So this... is humanity’s greatest hero? How pitiable.”

He laughed arrogantly, but soon his smile slowly faded.

The reason was simple.

From within the endless darkness, a single golden line appeared.

Then another.

Then more and more.

Like dawn breaking through the longest night.

The light broke through the darkness.

SHHHHNNNG...

The sea of shadows split apart.

Along with thousands upon thousands of Shadow Soldiers, who instantly dissolved into ash.

A figure slowly walked out.

Reinhardt stepped through the air. His body was untouched, and his breathing was perfectly steady.

It didn’t look like it had taken him any effort at all.

Seeing this, Mammon narrowed his eyes.

”Hmmm... interesting.”

The Seventh Heavenly King finally noticed something.

Throughout the entire battle, Reinhardt hadn’t launched a serious offensive. It had always been Mammon attacking while the other party remained solely on the defensive.

This was strange.

What the Heavenly King didn’t know was that Reinhardt was deliberately staying on the defensive. Since there were too many knights nearby and the battle between them could cause the fortress to collapse, he had been subtly guiding the battlefield farther and farther away from the fortress.

Mammon wasn’t an idiot.

After a few exchanges, he understood the knight’s motive.

”Tch... you’re protecting those ants?”

This was a great humiliation.

During their battle, the other party had the gall to divide his attention.

Reinhardt finally spoke.

”They’re not insects, but my comrades.”

Another white platform formed beneath his feet, and he stopped retreating.

The battlefield had already shifted away from the fortress, and now, even if he fought seriously, no one would be caught in the aftermath.

In fact, he had deliberately brought the battlefield near the demons’ camp.

Phew...

Reinhardt slowly closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

Then he opened them, and at that very instant, golden radiance blazed out of his body like a miniature sun.

His voice also became heavy, and every word seemed to resonate with heaven itself.

”[One with the Sword].”

A brilliant aura merged completely into his blade.

”[Heart of the Sword].”

The sword no longer appeared separate from its wielder.

Every heartbeat, breath, and intention became clear.

”Transition.”

Every skill and technique became an extension of the previous one, allowing him to perform any skill or technique at any moment.

”[Limitless].”

The Holy Energy surrounding him expanded endlessly, and the Holy Sword began to actively communicate with him.

If he wished, he could even remotely control it and execute any skill without needing to hold it in his hand.

Finally, he activated...

”[Embodiment].”

The light vanished.

Not because it disappeared, but because it was absorbed into his body.

At that moment, he unlocked one hundred percent of human potential.

With Reinhardt activating one Transcendent State after another, the surrounding space trembled. Even the sky seemed to brighten slightly.

Feeling the vast power within the Divine Paladin, Mammon’s confident expression slowly stiffened.

He could feel that the other party’s power had reached a level comparable to his own.

Impossible.

He quickly rejected the thought.

At that very second, Reinhardt stepped forward and...

Vanished.

He was so fast that even the Seventh Heavenly King momentarily lost sight of him.

Mammon instinctively twisted sideways.

SHHHK...

Pain exploded across his shoulder, and a deep gash stretched from his collarbone to his waist.

Golden light erupted inside the wound.

”Argh!”

Mammon screamed.

For the first time in a hundred years, he saw his own blood and felt pain.

Black demonic blood sprayed through the air.

Mammon immediately attempted to regenerate, but...

Nothing happened.

”What?”

Surprise flashed across his face.

He looked toward the wound and saw the Holy Energy continuing to burn inside his flesh.

Every attempt to regenerate simply resulted in more of his own shadow being purified.

The injury refused to close.

The Holy Energy spread deeper into his body.

How can this be?

Was his power completely unable to resist Holy Energy?

His expression finally changed.

”No.”

While Mammon was momentarily shaken, Reinhardt appeared again.

His sword flashed.

This time, every strike flowed naturally into the next.

His swordsmanship, rather than combat, began to resemble art.

Like a continuous current.

Each movement seamlessly became the foundation for the next.

What’s more, every slash restricted the demon’s escape routes.

Within a few seconds, Mammon found himself completely suppressed and retreating.

No.

He couldn’t fight him head-on.

Shadows burst from beneath the demon, but the holy light erased them at an even faster speed.

Even if he dissolved into darkness, Reinhardt’s blade was already waiting where he intended to emerge.

Clang...

Clang...

Clang...

The sky was filled with light and sparks.

Mammon was so suppressed that he couldn’t breathe or think properly.

When had he, the ruler of all demons, ever been forced onto the back foot like this?

Humans feared him as the Kingdom Destroyer.

”Damn you!!”

With a loud roar, thousands of shadow spears descended simultaneously.

Reinhardt merely swung once, and the holy slash expanded hundreds of meters.

Vanquishing every spear.

Mammon hurriedly fled through another shadow.

But the Holy Sword, Galgano, was already there to meet him.

Slash...

His left arm split open, and Holy Energy burned through his body once again.

He was covered in wounds, and worse, his regeneration was failing him.

The Seventh Heavenly King’s breathing gradually became ragged.

”No... this cannot... be. I cannot be defeated by a mere human.”

Mammon abruptly changed tactics.
