The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 702- The Criminal Syndicate Of Blueberry Town

The Holy Knights were shocked. They all knew what he was trying to do. Facing an opponent that even their commander could not defeat, it was downright suicidal to face him alone.

Yet someone had to do it. Drystan knew this very well too, and thus challenged the Seventh Heavenly King all on his own. His intentions were clear: if someone did not stop this monster, then their entire Temple of Light would be annihilated.

”Go!” Delaying any longer would only endanger them further. Drystan shouted.

Bob and the other holy knights gritted their teeth, retrieved Reinhardt’s body, and hurriedly retreated.

”It’s useless. Even if you take him away, the Divine Paladin will not survive. The curse he is inflicted with is the Curse of the Demon Lord. Sooner or later, he will die. It is just a matter of time”. The Seventh Heavenly King declared in triumph.

His berserk aura, filled with endless slaughter and madness, surged out like a terrifying tsunami. It quickly overwhelmed the surrounding knights.

At this moment, the Vice Commander of the Temple of Light stood tall once again.

”Don’t be misled by the schemes of the demons. The Commander is not someone weak enough to fall under a curse. He will be the man to annihilate all demonkind. Hmph, don’t think that I don’t know what you are trying to do”...

”Because you couldn’t win against the Commander in a head on fight, you laid a trap for him. And now you are trying to do the same again. But you have severely underestimated one thing. We are all knights of the Temple of Light. You may take our lives, but you can never make us surrender”.

The words lit a fire under all the knights; their spirits reignited once again. That’s right, they hadn’t lost yet. As long as they stopped the enemy here and helped their comrades retreat, it could be considered their victory.

”Useless. Do you think I’ll allow all of you to leave?”

The Seventh Heavenly King attacked. Demonic energy covered his hand, turning into a huge shadowy ball.

Clench... When the Seventh Heavenly King clenched his hand, the shadow ball slowly condensed and became smaller. The power it packed was also magnified.

The sky and land darkened; even the air carried demonic flakes. Even without facing it before, Drystan knew that single attack could flatten a mountain and destroy miles of land. Yet even against such an attack, he did not back down.

Unleashing his abilities and all the Transcendent States he had mastered so far, he managed to somehow deflect the shadow ball. This astonished the Seventh Heavenly King.

”Looks like you paid a significant price for trying to scheme against my commander”.

Although Drystan didn’t know what kind of scheme the Seventh Heavenly King used, the latter’s aura and energy were in complete disarray.

In the last attack earlier, even though the shadow ball like attack of the Seventh Heavenly King was quite powerful, the speed was subpar. This weakness was capitalized by Drystan, who seemingly deflected it easily.

”Dammit”. The Seventh Heavenly King cursed. The earlier Soul Snatch and the subsequent use of the Curse of the Demon Lord had severely affected his body, weakening him significantly.

”Although I don’t know what kind of trick you used, as a brother, I will definitely avenge my sister”.

With that, he pointed his sword at the enemy. The Commander he knew, the Divine Paladin, could not be tricked by just any scheme. The fact that he was afflicted with a curse as horrifying as the Curse of the Demon Lord, despite that, must mean that either he was forced to or had relaxed his guard for a moment.

The lifeless body of his sister nearby, with tears still gleaming around the corner of her cheeks, was enough to tell him that the demon had used a truly sinister means.

[Purgatory Aura] Vast amounts of holy energy exuded from Drystan and layered themselves around his sword. The sword cut a trajectory across the Seventh Heavenly King’s chest, opening a bloody wound.

Thanks to the overflowing holy energy, the wounds did not close immediately. What’s more, the disarray within his body also caused the Seventh Heavenly King to be unable to dodge.

”Damn human, don’t get cocky”. The Seventh Heavenly King roared.

Watching everything once again, like history repeating itself, Reinhardt finally understood what was going on. All the visions, the mystery... he understood what the Gods wanted to show him.

The Battle of the Black Tide. The world only knew the tragic story of a hero who fell. A story repeated countless times across taverns, academies, temples, and royal courts.

The story in which one of the three powerful heroes of Solaris, the Divine Paladin, was defeated by the Seventh Heavenly King.

It is said that the battle was extremely devastating. In the end, although the Temple of Light finally managed to bring the hero back with them, they paid a terrible price.

Not only that, it was later revealed that the Divine Paladin was afflicted with the Curse of the Demon Lord. A curse so vile that even the Temple of Light could not remove it.

The Temple exhausted countless resources attempting to save him. Many high-ranking priests died from the backlash. Even the Saintess could not remove it.

In the war of the Black Tide, Solaris’s northern forces completely collapsed. The Temple of Light suffered catastrophic losses.

Solaris itself was shaken to its foundations. And Reinhardt... Slowly declined beneath the curse. That was the story the world knew.

But stories were often incomplete. Because what the world never learned was what truly happened during the Battle of the Black Tide.

Before the curse, before everything fell apart, it was a story that began years earlier. A story involving three people: Reinhardt Arcknight, the Commander of the Temple of Light; Drystan Benedict, the Vice Commander of the order; and a woman whose existence would alter all their fates.

The name of the woman was... Aurelia Benedict. Drystan’s younger sister.

If one were to describe her appearance, words would inevitably fall short. Not because she possessed some transcendent beauty capable of shaking kingdoms. But because she carried something rarer: a warmth that made people instinctively lower their guard.

She possessed soft silver-blonde hair, gentle emerald eyes, and a smile capable of making even difficult days seem lighter.

She was the kind of person who could sit beside someone in silence and somehow make their burdens feel smaller.

Naturally, she was loved by everyone. Not only by her family, but even by those around her.

To Drystan, his younger sister was his light, the person who brought him to the right path when he eventually veered off to a darker, more evil path.

If not for her, he would not have become the person he was today: the Vice Commander of the Temple of Light and one of the strongest knights who could go toe to toe with the Commander of the other Seven Great Knight Orders. To Drystan, Aurelia was family. The most precious family he had left.

As for Reinhardt, he had met her entirely by accident. Or perhaps, it would be more accurate to say that fate had arranged it.

At the time, Reinhardt was still relatively unknown. Of course, he was strong and highly respected by his peers. But at that time, he was far from becoming the legendary figure he would later become.

.

Blueberry Town... a small town near Lumiose City.

Reinhardt had arrived here for certain matters. But right after he completed his task and was ready to head back home, a storm hit the town.

Thanks to the relentless rain and wind, Reinhardt had to seek shelter. He had intended to simply wait until the weather improved.

What he didn’t expect was that his path would cross with a young woman desperately chasing loose papers through the rain. The wind had scattered them everywhere.

Chased as much as she could, there was no way she would be able to recover them, especially when many of them had fallen into the puddles.

Seeing that the woman looked moments away from crying, Reinhardt decided to help her.

These two people could be seen chasing loose papers during a storm. The entire situation turned into a ridiculous chase across half the street.

By the time they finished gathering what could be salvaged, both of them were soaked.

”Here, I got the ones I could save”.

Under the shelter of a shop, Reinhardt passed the stack of papers to the woman.

The latter stared at the stack of rescued papers in disbelief. Then at him.

Reinhardt expected to be thanked for his efforts; after all, he got soaked to save the loose papers for her. However, instead of a thank, what he got was laughter.

The woman burst out laughing.

It was unladylike, but it was so genuine, bright, and contagious that it made other people smile without realizing it.

What was this feeling?
