King of the Wilderness

Chapter 768: Chapter 352: Riven’s Aunt..._3

”And you just need to press a button to drive underwater like 007! Why not get two? One for you and one for your girlfriend.”

”We don’t...” Riven was just about to refuse.

”And this,” Kira, giving her no chance, took out a yellow professional device from the glass cabinet.

”Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II, 1400 US Dollars, a pulse induction detector used by professional treasure hunters.”

She spoke while winking at Lin Yu’an, ”The waters around the Bahamas have been a hotspot for pirate and Spanish treasure ships sinking for hundreds of years!”

”Wave this around and you might just find a Spanish Gold Coin from the 1715 Fleet. That would cover the cost of this trip instantly!”

Riven looked at these toys that were hardly cost-effective and might only be used once or twice a year, her face clearly saying ”Stop her quickly.”

She knew Kira wasn’t actually trying to sell anything, but was using this method to test Lin Yu’an’s financial capacity and his level of indulgence towards Riven.

”Riven,” Kira asked calmly, ”don’t you want to try it? On a historic shipwreck route, searching for lost coins, effortlessly exploring underwater coral mazes.”

”What cool, ocean-loving girl doesn’t have a dream of adventure and romance in treasure hunting?”

”I don’t...”

Before Riven could finish, she saw Kira turn around, seemingly about to recommend underwater photography equipment worth tens of thousands of US Dollars, and Riven finally couldn’t take it anymore.

With a swift step forward, she grabbed Kira’s arm, lowered her voice, and almost pleaded:

”Enough, Aunt Kira!”

”Aunt...?”

Lin Yu’an immediately caught on to the term, his face showing a rare expression of surprise.

He looked in amazement at the girl in front of him, who seemed much younger than Riven... her aunt?

Upon hearing the term, Kira was stunned for a moment, then her face showed an extremely smug smile, like someone who had just won a victorious battle.

She clasped Riven’s hand in return, not letting her escape.

”Wow?” she elongated her tone, ”The last time you called me aunt was the last time...”

”To get him to spend less money, you actually called me aunt? It seems you genuinely care about this man full of exotic charm, my dear niece~”

Riven’s face blushed instantly; she knew this would happen! This term was her ultimate weapon only when she had requests for Kira, now it had become a point of teasing for the other party.

She broke free of Kira’s hand and helplessly held her forehead. She leaned close to Lin Yu’an and quickly explained: ”Don’t listen to her nonsense... she’s my dad’s youngest sister.”

”My grandpa had a daughter late in life... so... in terms of seniority, she really is my aunt.”

”But she’s only a year older than me, we grew up together like sisters. She just loves to take advantage of me.”

This American-style family drama explanation thoroughly amused Lin Yu’an, and he finally burst into laughter.

He now understood why this girl looked at him with that kind of scrutinizing and challenging look, like a mother-in-law evaluating her son-in-law.

Lin Yu’an ignored the bickering between the aunt and niece and instead directly approached Kira, smiling as he said, ”The equipment you recommended earlier, underwater scooter, two units. Also, two metal detectors.”

”And,” he pointed to the pile of top-quality diving gear already selected, ”I’ll take it all. Let’s settle the bill.”

Kira’s triumphant smile instantly froze, her brain whirring like a cash register, quickly calculating the total of the month’s biggest order.

Diving gear: A full set of top-tier Atomic, Halcyon, Shearwater equipment... The total price easily surpasses $10,000!

Surfing gear: A longboard and accessories, about $1500.

And those big toys: Two Yamaha underwater scooters, $4000. Two Garrett underwater metal detectors, $4000.

Kira did a silent mental calculation; the total price of this heap of items easily exceeded the $20,000 mark!

This wasn’t a small amount, but having worked at this top-tier shop on Las Olas Boulevard, she had seen many Middle Eastern oil tycoons, Russian magnates, or tech tycoons spend even more exuberant sums on a whim.

What truly surprised her was not the figure, but Lin Yu’an’s attitude when he said it.

It wasn’t an ostentatious display of wealth, nor an oily pursuit of a girl without regard to price.

The man’s attitude was entirely different.

He listened to her introduction of the top-tier equipment, and his eyes reflected an appreciation of technology and performance.

His decision to purchase was based on the judgment that these tools would meet his future adventure needs, with no emotional fluctuation in the entire process.

This demeanor, Kira had only seen in those truly elite professional adventurers, yet this young man, not much older than herself, already possessed it.

She knew her niece might have truly caught a big fish this time! A fish completely different from any man she had seen before.

”Alright, I’ll get this packed for you.” Kira quickly masked all her surprise and scrutiny, displaying the most professional smile for top clients, and turned towards the cash register.

Lin Yu’an took out a black credit card, ready to follow her to settle the bill.

At that moment, Riven, who had been trailing alongside, suddenly halted her steps, her gaze fixed like a magnet on the wall behind the cash register.

”Kira...” her voice carried a hint of barely detectable tremor, ”when did that arrive?”

Lin Yu’an followed her gaze.

There, in the most conspicuous spot behind the cash register, hung an old-style short surfboard that appeared weathered by years.

The board bore no flashy graffiti, only scratches and a faint yellow patina from sun exposure left by time.

But prominently at the very center of the board’s nose was a distinctly recognizable signature — Eddie Aikau.

Seeing the name, Lin Yu’an might not grasp its significance, but to Riven, it was akin to a Christian finding the ”Holy Grail” in a grocery store.

Eddie Aikau, the legendary Hawaiian surfer and lifeguard, was a pioneer and spiritual figure in ”big wave surfing.”

His phrase ”Eddie Would Go” remains the ultimate creed worldwide for surfers challenging their limits.

He himself disappeared into the vast Pacific Ocean during a daring sea rescue.

A surfboard he personally signed and used holds a value and significance far beyond that of ordinary signed memorabilia. For surfers, it’s a ”holy relic.”
