King of the Wilderness

Chapter 766: Chapter 352: Riven’s Aunt...

Lin Yu’an entered an address into the car’s navigation system, and Riven glanced at the name displayed on the screen—”Island Water Sports”—her face showing a surprised expression.

”A surfing and diving gear shop? What are you going there for?” she asked, puzzled.

”To buy equipment,” Lin Yu’an replied concisely.

”You can dive?” Riven’s voice was filled with surprise.

Lin Yu’an looked at her and calmly explained, ”Not really, but I noticed that more than half of the videos on your TikTok account are about surfing and freediving.

Also, on the arm of your sailing uniform, there’s a logo of the World Surf League (WSL).

I guess, compared to sailing, your true passion might lie in that smaller board and the deeper sea.”

Riven was momentarily taken aback, not expecting him to actually check out her TikTok and understand her so deeply through such seemingly trivial details.

”Moreover,” Lin Yu’an continued, ”our route will pass by Eleuthera Island and the Exuma Islands. I’ve checked; they have world-class surfing and diving spots, respectively.”

”We’ll be stopping at those places, and I hope that my first mate can enjoy her true passion amidst the intense sailing.”

He paused for a moment, then shifted his tone, his gaze becoming sincere and direct: ”Of course, most importantly, I personally have a strong interest in ’dancing on the waves’ and ’exploring the underwater world.’

So, I need the best coach to teach me surfing and diving. I can’t think of anyone more suitable than you.”

These words were perfectly delivered, both respecting and considering her interests, and extending an invitation that couldn’t be refused under the guise of ”I want to learn.”

Riven looked at him, and a slightly complex yet gentle light flickered in those blue eyes always filled with confidence and challenge.

She was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly turned the wheel sharply, making a U-turn with the car.

”Hold on tight, Captain!” she laughed, hitting the gas, her voice filled with uncontrollable excitement, ”Then let me show you my real domain!”

Under Riven’s guidance, they arrived at a professional water sports store filled with Hawaiian vibes, with the scent of board wax wafting through the air.

As soon as they entered, Riven felt like a fish back in the water, skillfully greeting the clerk before immediately switching to coach mode and starting to introduce the equipment to Lin Yu’an.

”For beginners, in surfing, you’d need a longboard, which is buoyant and easy to ride,” Riven pointed at a nearly 9-foot-long giant surfboard, ”and a well-fitting wetsuit and leash.”

She then led Lin Yu’an to the diving section, where the array of buoyancy control devices, regulators, and dive computers dazzled him.

”For diving, we’ll start with the simplest snorkeling,” she picked up a professional low-volume mask and demonstrated it in front of Lin Yu’an.

”You’ll need a good mask, snorkel, and fins to get used to breathing underwater.”

She paused for a moment, glanced at the more professional scuba diving gear nearby, and showed a hint of regret on her face.

”As for scuba diving... that requires a systematic course, at least three to four days to learn theory and pool skills.”

”This voyage is too tight on time for that. When we return from this trip, I can teach you personally.”

She naturally started planning the next class, seemingly not considering that Lin Yu’an might refuse.

However, Lin Yu’an didn’t look at those snorkel masks; instead, his gaze fell on a nearby set of scuba gear.

”Why wait to return?” he suddenly spoke up.

Riven was taken aback: ”What?”

”I mean, why wait until after the voyage to learn scuba diving?” Lin Yu’an turned his head to look at her, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

”Coach Riven, did you forget about... my learning ability?”

This rhetorical question left Riven momentarily speechless, reminding her of his one-handed mastery of the bowline knot and how he perfectly replicated docking maneuvers after watching only once.

Indeed, how could she measure this enigma with the learning pace of ordinary people?

”You mean...” Riven looked at him, somewhat incredulously.

”What I mean is,” Lin Yu’an walked toward the scuba gear section and picked up a complex-looking regulator.

”Tonight, you can send me the PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Open Water Diver course theory materials.”

”Tomorrow, after we set sail, we can practice the skills in calm waters using the swim platform at the back of the boat during calm weather.”

He observed Riven’s shocked expression and continued with a tone of rightful confidence.

”I believe that by the time we reach the Exuma Islands, I’ll be qualified to explore the famous blue holes there with my coach.”

”This...” Riven hesitated for a moment, but a radiant smile she couldn’t suppress spread across her face.

”Alright! Mr. Monster, I accept your challenge! If you can really do it, I’ll take you to explore the most beautiful shipwrecks in Exuma!”

With that, she immediately perked up and, pulling Lin Yu’an along, started selecting diving equipment for him.

Riven picked up a Scubapro MK19/G260 regulator, ”This one is excellent, a classic from Scubapro, with top-notch anti-freeze performance and low breathing resistance...”

She hadn’t finished speaking when a girl with a ponytail, sun-kissed skin, looking around seventeen or eighteen, came over, cheerfully interrupting with a surfboard tucked under her arm.
