King of the Wilderness

Chapter 765: Chapter 351: Dazzling Offshore Fishing Gear (Part 3)

Next, he selected a few heavy lures shaped like bullets, with metal tips.

”Black Bart’s Breakfast Series, when the sea conditions are poor and the waves are big, you need these heavy lures to break through the waves and stabilize the swimming layer. They’re a breakfast no mackerel or large tuna can resist.”

Finally, he brought out some massive lures that looked like little dolphins.

”And these big ones, Mold Craft’s Wide Range, we call it the ’sofa.’

”If you want to try your luck at ’Marlin Alley,’ use it. It swings widely in the water, like a wounded tuna.”

”No territorial blue marlin can tolerate this guy being so arrogant in its territory.”

He spoke while placing two boxes filled with all kinds of lures on the counter, containing at least dozens of fake baits.

”However, catching a blue marlin isn’t that simple; just having these isn’t enough. The key is how to set up a deadly trap.”

Frank’s emotions were also rising, ”I know your boat probably doesn’t have enough space to set up a perfect five-rod or seven-rod configuration.”

”But that’s okay, with the three rods you bought, you can still set up a deadly ’trident’ formation!”

His eyes became sharp like a general performing a sand table drill.

”First, the short corner at the port stern, use your set of gold PENN International VISX 16.”

He pointed at the set of heavy gear, ”This position is the most likely to be attacked in the whole formation!”

”Blue marlins often rush up from the deep water, going straight for this closest guy!”

”You must use its powerful torque immediately to pull the fish away from the dangerous propeller area! The ’Dura-Drag’ system is born for this.”

”Next is the longer outrigger position at the starboard stern.” Frank pointed at the silver Accurate.

”Place your lightweight Accurate Valiant 600 here, the target at this position may not necessarily be a blue marlin.”

”The lure here can be smaller, possibly attracting large yellowfin tuna or ghost head saber following the marlin while hunting.”

”Use this light gear to catch them; it can add to your dinner without wasting too much energy on non-target fish.”

”Finally, the ’shotgun’ position in the center of the boat.” His hand fell on the store’s treasure.

”Here, put your ultimate weapon—the Shimano Tiagra 130A.”

”The lure at this position drags at the far end, mimicking an injured fish that has fallen behind, and serves as the core to entice giant creatures onto the hook. Once hooked, you’ll face a long and arduous tug-of-war!”

”The massive line capacity and monster-level braking system of this gear are designed to let you laugh until the end in this epic battle!”

This explanation perfectly combined the characteristics of the three sets of gear with the demands of the three tactical positions, clearly presented in front of Lin Yu’an and Riven.

This meticulous explanation was so captivating that Lin Yu’an and Riven were enthralled.

[Learned, learned! Skills that won’t be used in a lifetime!]

[Next person, be bold, what if you win the lottery! I just won 5 million.]

[Director: Lottery sales are slow, help us out!]

”Of course,” Frank changed the tone, ”sometimes these fake ones are not as good as the real thing; I don’t sell real baits, those need to be freshest. I can teach you a few tricks.”

”When you get to Bimini, you can buy some frozen ballyhoo at the pier and tie it in the ’octopus’ skirt; no sailfish can resist this temptation.”

”If you catch some small squid, cut them into strips and hang them on any lure’s hook; you’ll find mackerel go crazy.”

”As for the ultimate weapon,” he smiled mysteriously, ”if you want to catch blue marlin, the best bait is a live blackfin tuna.”

”In Marlin Alley, first find a way to catch a small one, then hang it on the hook and drop it in. Next, grip your rod tightly and pray to God.”

[Ballyhoo and small squid, my mouth is watering, but it turns out they’re for the fish.]

[The bait for the ultimate weapon is actually tuna? My goodness, this is like a pay-to-win player fighting a boss!]

Seeing the excitement and yearning in the eyes of the two, Frank’s smile slowly receded, his expression becoming serious and solemn.

”However, young man,” he looked at Lin Yu’an, his tone sinking, ”the equipment only qualifies you for the challenge of giant creatures.”

”But sea fishing, especially challenging those true deep-sea giant spirits, is never just about equipment overpowering.”

Frank’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried a calm strength from years of facing storms, silencing the originally noisy atmosphere in the store.

”It’s more like a duel between you and that thousand-pound giant creature, and the entire ever-changing ocean.”

”Your eyes need to learn to read the language of the sea—wherever birds are circling, that’s where baitfish are.”

”The change in water color, the edge of the current, those are the battlefields where giant creatures appear. Expensive equipment can’t give you this knowledge.”

Frank looked at the thoughtful pair and smiled again, a smile of expectation from a mentor to a mentee.

”Remember, equipment only helps you step onto the stage. But what truly decides the victory is experience, patience, and respect for the ocean.”

Lin Yu’an was silent for a moment, then nodded solemnly, ”I understand, thank you for your guidance.”

This was not just a shopping trip; it was more like an inheritance of knowledge and experience.

”Alright buddy, your arsenal is complete.” Frank finally ended his long lecture.

He took out the calculator, quickly pressing while muttering:

”Accurate set 2000, PENN set 1800, Tiagra that ’big guy’ 5000... lures and various accessories, let’s round it off to 1500... altogether...”

He looked up and reported a shocking number: ”Ten thousand three hundred US Dollars.”

Riven, listening on the side, was shocked; she knew these things were expensive but didn’t expect them to be this costly!

Lin Yu’an didn’t bat an eye, directly handed over a black card.

Frank took the card and looked at the young man in front of him, indifferent to the price, with a flash of appreciation in his eyes.

He said with a smile, ”Buddy, I like you. You’ve got guts and manners, unlike those outside who only know how to haggle.”

”And you’re taking the Montgomery family’s girl out to sea, so you count as one of us.”

He spoke while entering a new number into the credit card machine.

”How about this,” he turned the card machine towards Lin Yu’an, ”10,000 bucks. The remaining 300, consider it me buying you two beers.”

”Catch me a big one, hang the photo in the most noticeable place in my shop, consider you’ve paid for advertising!”

This little discount shows the old-fashioned businessman’s generosity and humanity without Lin Yu’an seeming to take advantage.

”Deal.” Lin Yu’an smiled, promptly entered the pin.

”Alright, I hope you have fun! I’m waiting to see you two with your prize catch in a couple photo!” The old man handed them the packed gear.

He first patted Lin Yu’an’s arm, then turned to Riven, saying, ”Montgomery family’s girl, say hi to your dad for me!”

”No problem, I’ll pass it on.” Riven nodded decisively.

When the three sets of fishing gear, worth ten thousand dollars, were placed in the massive rear truck bed of the raptor, Riven started the pickup, ready for the next stop.

Lin Yu’an said into the livestream phone, ”Folks, there are many kids on the street, to protect privacy, the livestream will pause and resume frequently; hope for your understanding.”

Riven looked at Lin Yu’an, once again stopping the livestream, and asked with a smile, ”Alright, the captain’s weapons are bought. Shall we go for the big shopping spree now?”

”No rush,” Lin Yu’an shook his head, glanced at the navigation, ”The next destination is here.”
