Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Carrel looked at this person he usually treated as a mother, knowing that she enthusiastically greeted him loudly because she didn’t want him to call out ”Mom” first.

Because Vid knows his real mother, his memory hasn’t been altered.

Even though they had reached the door, and the vampires in the room were enough to fill a classroom, their fear of Dumbledore made them want to trick Vid into the room before making a move.

Carrel didn’t deliberately intend to oppose her; he merely turned to look at Vid, his gaze appearing extremely indifferent.

Even now, it was impossible for Vid to regret and want to leave.

Carrel’s gaze swept over his neck, his fingers twitched slightly, and his pupils contracted slightly as his breathing quietly became rapid.

Vid seemed oblivious, smiling with his eyes curved, as if he were a normal student visiting a classmate’s house, saying, ”Good afternoon, Madam.”

He walked past the plump woman without any caution, entering the room.

The woman exchanged a glance with Carrel, revealing a satisfied yet sinister smile. After he entered, she glanced around and closed the door with a hand.

”Bang!”

The sound of the wooden door hitting, coinciding with something fiercely hitting the ground, resounded, causing the floor to seemingly jump twice.

Carrel paused briefly in the hall before entering. Once inside, he saw Vid awkwardly tied up on the floor. Byrd had retrieved a magic wand from him, examining it in his hand.

”Is this the end?” The scarred vampire clicked his tongue dissatisfiedly, saying, ”It’s a bit too easy, guys.”

”Do you wish to have a fight with Hogwarts’ wizards?” Roberts said happily, ”It’s best to avoid casualties... didn’t expect it to go so smoothly.”

”Who is this kid?” A vampire looked at Carrel and asked, ”Are you a vampire too? Why are you wearing Hogwarts’ uniform?”

”This is my son, he has some magic talent,” Byrd said, ”Thanks to Dumbledore’s ’tolerance’, even willing to admit vampires into the school, which gave us this chance.”

Speaking the word ’tolerance’, he emphasized this, the sarcasm was evident, and the vampires all laughed along.

”Good job, kid!”

Someone opened a bottle of wine, raised a glass, and said loudly.

”Though we didn’t get the chance, Byrd, everyone here came with the resolve that they might die attempting this.”

The burned vampire suddenly spoke, coldly saying, ”As for the promised reward... you won’t back out, right?”

The laughter suddenly stopped.

”Of course not, the wealth in this kid’s vault is still yours.”

Byrd actually regretted but under the gaze of all the vampires, he still showed a confident smile and said.

”That’s good!” The burned vampire laughed, ”As far as I know, a wizard with many commercial dealings, even if not personally involved, only needs a letter to let goblins withdraw money from the vault - Byrd, I now only need a letter.”

”Me too,” the scarred vampire quickly said, apparently feeling a bit awkward for not contributing, he added, ”I don’t expect more wealth, but the promised thirty thousand Galleons shouldn’t be less.”

”Yes, Byrd.” Other vampires chimed in, ”With him in hand, you have endless wealth. Now just a letter can dismiss us, you won’t back out, right?”

”Letters to Gringotts seemingly must be handwritten, in a short time how many can he write? Who to first, who later? To prevent disputes, letter writing will wait until moved to a safe place.”

Roberts urged, ”In this ghostly place, I always feel worried, feels as if Dumbledore might appear anytime.”

Gall hurriedly said, ”That’s right, we better leave now.”

As soon as he spoke, he felt Vid Gray suddenly turn his head, glance at him. For some reason, Gall suddenly regretted intervening.

Perhaps it was due to the opponent’s eerily calm gaze, sending a shrill alarm in his mind.

Gall glanced at the room holding Lockhart, unsure if he should abandon this cellmate and flee first.

Byrd looked down at Vid Gray, who had been silent since being captured, unsure if he was speechless from despair or fear, or using his unknown brain to devise a escape plan.

But he never dared underestimate this young wizard who brought such great changes to the Wizarding World in a few years, thus Byrd decisively broke the wand he recovered from Vid.

”A wizard without a wand is worse than a Muggle,” Byrd lifted Vid from the ground, glanced at his nominal son and said, ”Carrel, keep your wand safe too, don’t accidentally let him snatch it.”

”I understand.” Carrel lowered his head obediently and said.

A vampire smelling of alcohol sneered, ”You’re way too cautious, Byrd.”

Carrel saw Byrd grabbing Vid heading toward the fireplace, the plump woman prepared a big bowl of Floo Powder, quickly ran over a few steps and said, ”Um... Dad...”

”You’re not soft-hearted, are you kid? Talking about friendship now?” The scarred vampire ridiculed.

”No, not that,” Carrel lowered his voice, pleadingly looked at Byrd, and said, ”Vid Gray has a magic item that I really like... Dad, can I keep it?”

”Of course you can... What is it?”

Having achieved his goal, Byrd was in a good mood, readily agreeing.

”It’s... a necklace.”

Carrel walked up, met Vid’s indifferent gaze, subconsciously lowered his eyes, then reached out and took a thin gold necklace with a glowing gold hourglass-shaped timer from around his neck.

When gripping the Time Turner, Carrel’s hands couldn’t help but quiver slightly, and his originally very slow heartbeat became unprecedentedly intense.

”What’s this thing, kid?” a gaunt Vampire suddenly asked, staring greedily at the Golden Chain.

He didn’t know what the thing was for, but could see something unusual from Carrel’s face.

Carrel’s fingers trembled, but before he could speak, Roberts interjected:

”Enough, Tuck. This kid has done a great job today and deserves a reward. Besides, with thirty thousand Golden Galleons, what Magic Items can’t be bought?”

Tuck glanced around and saw that the other Vampires seemed to think his coveting of the object in the child’s hand was quite tactless, plus he indeed had done nothing today, so he reluctantly shut his mouth.

Carrel squeezed the Timer in his hand, feeling that his palm was painfully pressed.

At this moment, Vid suddenly chuckled.

”I’ve always thought it strange, why you were so compliant with them... Turns out this was your purpose, Carrel.”

He looked up at Carrel, with a hint of pity in his eyes, and said, ”But that’s impossible... it can’t change anything.”

Carrel sneered coldly at the words: ”Do you think you’re the only one who reads books? I’ve read Magic History too, I know what happened before!”

He was only worried that Vid would speak the name of the Time Turner, but for some reason, facing those eyes as cold as looking at a stone, a wave of uncontrollable anger surged within him.

He would rather Vid curse him out and denounce his betrayal and meanness than be looked at with that kind of gaze.

”Enough, you all have plenty of time to talk later.”

Byrd grew impatient, he pushed Vid in front of the fireplace, grabbed the Floo Powder, and scattered it into the fire, the flame suddenly turned green. He led Vid inside and shouted, ”Mill Town, Number 25!”

Carrel had quietly retreated to the door, ready to slip away while unnoticed, but suddenly found someone else seemed to share his intention.

The two exchanged glances, and Gall gave a sheepish smile: ”Um... I need to go to the bathroom...”

Suddenly, a surprised voice echoed in the living room: ”What’s going on?”

Carrel turned his head to see Vid and Byrd still standing in the fireplace flames, not having been taken away by the Floo Powder.

Everyone in the room instantly panicked, a scarred Vampire pulled them out and said, ”Let me try!”

He scattered the Floo Powder, clearly saying: ”Mill Town, Number 25!”

After waiting a few seconds, the flames didn’t react at all.

”Try somewhere else...” Roberts hurriedly suggested: ”Try the Leaky Cauldron!”

But the scarred Vampire still wasn’t taken away.

”This fireplace has been disconnected from the Floo Network!” Byrd, more knowledgeable than most Vampires, said through gritted teeth with an unpleasant look.

”What now?” Artemis said, cluelessly: ”Do we have to take this kid and go to the village to find a usable fireplace?”

”Fools! The Floo Network being severed means this place has long been under watch!” The burn-scarred Vampire strode forward, pressed a knife to Vid’s neck in anger, and said, ”If you don’t want to die, contact whoever’s behind you and have them reconnect the Floo Network!”

Vid chuckled, his tone still strangely calm, and asked, ”Or what? You want to behead me? Then what you seek—wealth, safety, and the Alchemy Knowledge in my mind—will all be gone.”

His gaze swept over their fearful faces as if his life wasn’t under someone else’s control.

The burn-scarred Vampire squinted his eyes and sneered: ”Arrogant brat, we can’t kill you, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make you suffer!”

He turned the knife, and without hesitation, stabbed it into Vid’s shoulder.

Gall’s body shuddered, instinctively pressing his shoulder.

But then, he noticed that the young Wizard didn’t scream miserably, but the burn-scarred Vampire, looking fierce, showed an expression of disbelief.

”Damn it! What’s going on?”

He pulled out the short knife, only to see that no blood flowed from Vid’s shoulder, not even muscles and bones; the break was filled with pale, earth-like substance.

”Such a pity. I actually quite liked this robe.”

”Vid” said, somehow twisted his arm, and the rope tying him fell off.

”What kind of monster are you?” The Vampire, lacking understanding of the Wizarding World, asked in alarm.

”Poppet!” Carrel exclaimed in shock: ”How can it be a Poppet?”

”Impossible!” Byrd said with a twisted, frenzied expression: ”I clearly heard your heartbeat! And the sound of blood flowing!”

”Oh, you mean this!” Poppet Vid said calmly, removing a badge from his chest: ”Recording and playing sounds, even Muggles can do it. But you’re in luck—what you heard was indeed my master’s heartbeat, but from yesterday.”

Once the badge left his chest, the Vampires realized in despair that the sound indeed wasn’t coming from him.

Byrd instantly glared at Carrel, who also said in astonishment: ”The one talking to me before was clearly Vid... Could it also have been you impersonating?”

”Your intuition isn’t wrong.” Poppet Vid revealed a faint smile and asked: ”Guess when we swapped, Carrel?”
