Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 567: Chapter 181: Stars and Quills (Part 2)

Until Bane turned away, the red-haired centaur let out a long sigh.

He said to Ferrenze, ”Ferrenze, your concerns aren’t unreasonable, but...”

He looked up at the stars, watched for a while, and then said, ”We centaurs have our pride. Hogwarts... or rather, the wizards... they don’t know how to maintain respect for other races.”

His tone wasn’t as intense as Bane’s, yet he gained the support of most centaurs. Some centaurs had been inclined towards Ferrenze, but after the red-haired centaur finished speaking, their wavering faces disappeared.

Ferrenze frowned, ”Ronan, we can’t ignore the changes. You’ve seen it; Hogwarts has undergone more changes in the past two years than in the past thousand years!”

Ronan said gloomily, ”Yes, sometimes when I see those children coming out of the maze, I feel a sense of dread. The wizard children are transforming into warriors, yet the centaurs remain stagnant.”

Ferrenze showed a joyful expression, eagerly said, ”Precisely! Therefore, we should more...”

Ronan raised his hand to stop his following words, sighed, ”You’re too impatient, Ferrenze, and impatience leads to mistakes. We need to observe more patiently and see where the future leads.”

Ronan also turned away, followed by Magri, with the rest of the centaurs gradually following.

A gray-brown centaur passed by Ferrenze and turned to say, ”I like you, Ferrenze, but I hate those wizards. They put those damned spiders in the Forbidden Forest, and now they’ve shoved in fire dragons as well! The Forbidden Forest is our home, yet the wizards have made it a mess! I hate them!”

Ferrenze fell silent.

The wizards probably thought that the place where the fire dragons are is far enough from the centaur tribe. But in the eyes of centaurs who love running, the entire Forbidden Forest is their home, and they loathe the uncontrolled dangers that have been added to it.

Centaurs left one after another, leaving Ferrenze alone.

He gazed at the sparse stars in the distance, watched for a long time, until the sun obscured the faint light of the stars, he left heavily burdened.

Lucas descended from the tree, frowned while looking in the direction the centaurs left, thought for a moment, then pulled out a crumpled piece of parchment to start writing a letter.

Maurice saw the beginning was ”Dumbledore,” and curiously asked, ”Dad, don’t you dislike Dumbledore?”

”You must strive to fulfill what you promised, Maurice.”

Lucas said solemnly, ”Moreover, with Dumbledore there, you were brought into that school, treated, and safely returned. If Dumbledore weren’t there...”

He didn’t finish, paused the quill for a moment, then continued writing.

...

When a fluffy owl flew into the Headmaster’s Office, Vid was attending an Alchemy Class with Professor Morry.

With tea poured and snacks set, the lesson officially began. Professor Morry waved his magic wand, and a flat box flew down from the bookshelf, landing on the table with a ”bang.”

”Open it and take a look.” Professor Morry said, ”This is the tool we’ll be studying for at least one or two months this semester.”

Vid opened the box and exclaimed, ”Quill?”

Professor Morry chuckled, ”Vid, you’ve already created many magnificent alchemy works, but you rarely handle quills. Actually, even in these delicate and fragile items, there is much to learn.”

He took out a long, green quill and said, ”This is a quill that automatically adds ink; as long as there’s ink in the ink bottle, it can keep writing. Can you guess what spells are used on it?”

Vid observed for a moment, ”Connection spell... Filling spell... I suspect a Levicorpus spell too? This would make the ink flow more smoothly during use.”

”Not bad.”

Professor Morry gently shook his hand, and the quill spread out entirely, turning into a pile of small parts.

”Your method of embedding spells like that is extremely uncommon. Usually, when we need to apply different spells to an object, we place the spells on its different structural parts.”

Vid watched carefully.

The tip, the shaft, the connection points at the top and bottom, and a very small wooden ball, each part had a different spell applied, combining unexpectedly harmoniously.

Then, using the materials Professor Morry had prepared in advance, he also crafted an identical quill in just two or three minutes.

Professor Morry nodded in satisfaction.

”The shaft and feather can be further subdivided. If needed, we could add some extra spell carriers to it, such as this anti-cheating quill.”

He took out another quill, ordinary in appearance, but in Vid’s eyes, it was more impressive than the previous one.

”See, anti-interference spell, detection spell, recording spell, and restriction spell, all these spells are to prevent students from using dishonorable means to gain results during exams.”

”Of course, I know you’ve encountered it before, but you should examine it well again from the perspective of an alchemist.”

”Yes.”

Vid took the anti-cheating quill, inspected, observed, learned.

This quill, he’d used it for the final exams in the past two years. But in the exam hall, Vid couldn’t dismantle the quill to research it himself.

Morry saw Vid crafted a nearly identical quill in just over ten minutes, smiled, and the wrinkles at the corners of his mouth deepened.
