This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 225: 225 Extinguishing Fire and Continuing the Lineage

Yang Wei’s response was completely within Du Heng’s expectations.

Upon receiving Yang Wei’s answer, Du Heng shifted his gaze back to You Fang. ”Give your husband one month. If his health improves, then you two can continue your lives together properly.

If, after a month, there are still no results, I support you in divorcing. And if your husband doesn’t agree to the divorce and drags his feet, delaying the procedures, I’ll find people and use my connections to help you get it done. What do you think?”

You Fang’s eyes darted several times between Du Heng and Yang Wei, then she quietly nodded her head.

At that point, Du Heng finally felt completely reassured.

To be honest, the previous incident had left a psychological scar on him.

This was the first time Du Heng had encountered a woman as fierce and ruthless as You Fang.

It was only then that Du Heng remembered he had tossed his bag at their front gate while meddling in their affairs; he hoped some mischievous child hadn’t made off with it.

Du Heng quickly got up and ran outside, leaving Yang Wei and his wife confused. Not understanding what was happening, they also hurriedly followed him out.

Luckily, his bag was still at the front gate, not having moved an inch.

Picking up his bag and dusting it off, Du Heng said cheerfully, ”It’s nothing, I just came to get my bag. Let’s go inside; I’ll write you a prescription and give you two some instructions.”

Once back inside, You Fang didn’t sit down but went to the washbasin to wash her hands and face. She then served Du Heng bread, snacks, and some fruit.

Judging by this, the couple seemed to be relatively well-off; at the very least, they weren’t lacking in food and drink.

”Are there any elders in the house?” Du Heng casually asked Yang Wei as he took out paper and pen from his bag.

”Yes, my parents are around. They live with my older brother, right next door.”

Du Heng understood now.

No wonder the couple had been fighting so viciously yet so quietly. He guessed that besides their genuine anger, they were also likely concerned about their parents overhearing.

This made Du Heng look at You Fang, this woman, with even more respect.

”The prescription I’m giving you is called the Conception-Assisting Pill. It contains many medicinal ingredients: Ginseng, morinda, velvet antler, cherokee rose fruit, and so on—sixteen types in total. Some of these are quite expensive, so the overall price will be a bit high.”

Du Heng quickly finished writing and handed the prescription to Yang Wei. ”All the medicines on the prescription should be ground into powder and then made into pellet medicine; I’ve written the instructions clearly on it. Later, take this prescription to the Health Clinic and find Dr. Wu Buwei. Have him prepare it for you.

When you take it home, you can consume one pill at any time of day, but only one pill per day. For the first month, avoid greasy foods, do not drink tea, and abstain from intercourse. After one month, your condition will improve. Taking it for two months will build stamina; for three months, you’ll be able to last long; and after a year, you’ll feel like a completely different person. Of course, you’ll also likely conceive your own baby.”

Yang Wei, holding the pill recipe, was extremely excited, the paper in his hand trembling so much it rustled.

He didn’t dare to dream of becoming a new person; being able to last long and have a baby was enough for him.

Du Heng packed up his things, picked up his bag, and prepared to leave.

He had just stepped in to meddle, and unexpectedly, more than an hour had slipped by. He wanted to go check on his target family to see if they had returned.

”You two must believe me. No more fighting with weapons. After the impulse fades, you’ll want to regret it, but it will be too late.”

He earnestly admonished the two, then said to Yang Wei, ”Alright, go to the Health Clinic and find Dr. Wu Buwei. I’ll be leaving now.”

Yang Wei quickly said, ”President Du, aren’t you heading back?”

”No, I still have to go to Yang Yuansheng’s house to check. Oh, by the way, do you know where he went? I just went to his house, and no one was there.”

”You’re going to see Uncle Yuansheng? He’s probably out working in the fields.” Yang Wei glanced at the wall clock. ”President Du, why don’t you rest here for a bit? Have some water and something to eat. Uncle Yuansheng usually gets back around 11:00. It’s only 10:30 now, so he’s likely not back yet.”

Heeding the advice, and seeing it as a good opportunity, Du Heng decided to ask Yang Wei about Yang Yuansheng’s situation.

”Then I’ll trouble you for a little longer. I’d like to ask about Yang Yuansheng’s situation; are you both familiar with it?”

Du Heng and Yang Wei sat down again. Yang Wei shot You Fang a look. You Fang glared back at him fiercely, then turned and went out.

Du Heng didn’t understand their exchange.

But you had to admit, that’s just how couples are. One moment they’re fighting to the death, the next, a single glance is enough for them to know what the other wants.

”President Du, have some water.” Yang Wei refilled Du Heng’s cup with a little hot water and pushed the saucer of snacks on the table closer to him.

”Uncle Yuansheng is a distant relative, but since we’re direct neighbors, I’m quite familiar with his family’s situation.” Yang Wei cradled his own cup and began to explain.

”This uncle of mine, in his younger days, loved to drink. He’d be drunk three days out of seven. His wife couldn’t stand it and ran off with a carpenter who came to our village for work. That was many years ago, and there’s been no word from her since. When she left, she didn’t just leave; she left behind two children, a son and a daughter, one four years old, the other two.”

Yang Wei took a sip of tea, his words measured and calm, as if the earlier unpleasantness had completely dissipated. ”After his wife ran off, the children still needed to be fed. So, my Uncle Yuansheng started drinking less and focused on finding ways to earn money to support them. Later, he got a small truck, and life became somewhat manageable. He never remarried, but I hear he needs to drink a bit every night to fall asleep.

About five years ago, he started feeling unwell and went to the hospital. He was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. Since then, his health has been poor, and he gradually became unable to drive his truck. The truck was newly bought at the time, and he couldn’t bear to sell it, so he rented it out. He gets about one or two thousand yuan a month from that.”

Du Heng was a bit puzzled. ”You said Yang Yuansheng has a truck? Then how is he one of the low-income households in your village?”

”Sigh, what good is one or two thousand yuan? That’s not even enough for his medicine, let alone for his son who’s about to go to university. Especially now that his son is at university, that extra one or two thousand yuan a month from the truck rental isn’t even enough for his son’s expenses. Let alone the fact that he himself needs money for medicine and food.

Around March, he started developing ascites. His belly swelled up like a pregnant woman’s. Forget about working; even walking became a struggle for him. Our Yang family isn’t large, and most of us aren’t well-off, but everyone still pooled money to help him get the ascites drained. It’s been drained twice so far.”

”I held consultations at the brigade headquarters entrance in March. Why didn’t he come then?”

Yang Wei looked at Du Heng and smiled without speaking.

Back in March, who knew who Du Heng was? In their minds, a young fellow like him was doing exceptionally well if he could treat colds and fevers. As for illnesses like liver cirrhosis and ascites, even major hospitals had no solutions, let alone someone like Du Heng.

Seeing Yang Wei’s smile, Du Heng instantly understood. Back in March, he himself had been a nobody.
