This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 221: 221 Maintain a calm mindset

Just like last time, once they left, the two of them stopped talking about what had just happened.

However, Du Heng took the opportunity to tell An Chunhui in detail about the plans to upgrade and renovate the Health Clinic.

Although this matter had been completely handed over to Lu Zhongjiang, if he could make a contribution and help, it would be a good thing.

The development of Zhonghu Health Center would also bring credit to An Chunhui, the person in charge.

In principle, he should fully support Du Heng and his team.

But the problem still lay in personnel allocation.

Du Heng, by bringing up this issue to him now, was obviously trying to solve the personnel problem. As for things like usable area and infrastructure, the Health Clinic already had them, and there was no need for An Chunhui to worry.

An Chunhui laughed it off and didn’t directly answer Du Heng. Instead, he said, ”It’s a good thing that the Health Clinic needs to be upgraded and renovated. But isn’t it a bit too hasty, considering you’ve only just started to see some improvement?”

”Leader, the main issue is that we’ve had more patients recently, and we don’t have enough beds.”

”Well, let’s not rush this. Don’t submit the paperwork just yet. For now, designate all new beds as temporary extra beds. We’ll wait and see. If this situation stabilizes in the future, then we can address the upgrade problem.”

This isn’t about temporary extra beds; it’s about a lack of manpower.

But seeing An Chunhui’s attitude, Du Heng didn’t argue further, so as not to annoy him.

Since there was nothing more to discuss, they each went their separate ways to attend to their own matters.

Du Heng stopped wandering around outside and went straight back to the Health Clinic.

The house purchase couldn’t be completed today. Although Wei Kaida had sent him the money, even with his own funds, he was still quite short, and Dong Yuezhang’s money hadn’t materialized yet.

Back at the Health Clinic, Wu Buwei was not in the consultation room. Du Heng asked Xiao Li, who said Wu Buwei had already gone to the ward to treat patients.

That made sense.

All the admitted patients had leg and foot problems. They chose to stay in the hospital because they could receive acupuncture treatment and recover faster. Otherwise, everyone would have just taken their medicine home to recover slowly on their own.

But now that Du Heng wasn’t at the Clinic, Wu Buwei was the only one who could perform acupuncture treatments daily. If he didn’t start early, he wouldn’t be able to finish by the end of the day.

As for Yu Haiting and Xiao Li, the two Western medicine doctors, the most they could do was help Wu Buwei with his tools and relieve some of the nurses’ workload. Assisting with acupuncture was impossible for them.

After changing his clothes, Du Heng was also preparing to go to the ward to help Wu Buwei lighten his workload. However, before he could go upstairs, he was summoned to the Deputy Mayor’s office by a phone call from Song Jiaying.

”Mayor Song, if you had something to say, you could have just told me over the phone. Why did you have to call me over?” Du Heng, having entered the Deputy Mayor’s office, was very dissatisfied with Song Jiaying’s insistence on him coming.

Moreover, looking at the radiation protection suit she was wearing, Du Heng really wanted to tell her, That thing is useless and extremely ugly.

Song Jiaying, her pregnant belly prominent, paced around the office to get some exercise. She was completely unconcerned by Du Heng’s dissatisfaction.

”Zhao Qiang from Zojiwa Village is your responsibility, right?”

”You mean Zhao Qiang with the missing part of his skull? Yes, I’m responsible for him. What’s the matter?”

”Did you find him any assistance?”

Du Heng nodded. ”I had to. You haven’t seen Zhao Qiang; half of his head is sunken in, looking deformed. And because there’s no skull protecting it, the expansion and contraction of his brain are becoming more pronounced. When I went to see him last week, he already had facial swelling. If this isn’t resolved soon, other complications might arise.”

”I consulted about his condition. Even the cheapest reconstructive surgery would cost over a hundred thousand. What else could I do but seek assistance? You don’t expect me to pay for his treatment, do you?”

Song Jiaying widened her pacing route, walking to the door and then slowly back. ”Just now, the District Civil Affairs Bureau directly allocated an assistance quota, reportedly from the city. It’s specifically for Zhao Qiang. All his treatment expenses will be borne by the municipal Ministry of Civil Affairs.”

Song Jiaying spoke while looking at Du Heng with a hint of surprise. ”I checked Zhao Qiang’s information and knew you were in charge. I wanted to ask if you knew about this.”

Du Heng was a bit confused. Regarding finding assistance for Zhao Qiang, apart from asking Liu Shengnan, he hadn’t taken any other steps.

Then he thought of a possibility.

”Mayor Song, please wait a moment. I’ll make a call and be right back.”

After saying this, he left the office, found a secluded corner, and called An Chunhui.

After explaining the situation and his speculation, An Chunhui just said coolly, ”Mm.”

Du Heng hung up the phone, frustrated.

As he guessed, it was indeed the handiwork of the Sir he had treated that morning.

But if you’re repaying me, why do it for Zhao Qiang?

If you want to support my work, support the Health Clinic!

They probably looked into my situation, figured Zhao Qiang’s case was my most difficult task right now, and wanted to help solve it.

Now the problem was solved, but Du Heng definitely wouldn’t appreciate this gesture.

It was too frustrating.

He felt very uncomfortable but didn’t know exactly what was bothering him; he just felt uncomfortable.

He returned to the office sullenly and said, ”Mayor Song, so what did you call me here for?”

Song Jiaying was very curious about how he had changed so much after just stepping out and back in.

But she didn’t press further. She just picked up a printed form from the table. ”I called you over to get this form. Take it back, have Zhao Qiang fill it out, and then we can start the process.”

Looking at that form, Du Heng felt a surge of grievance.

In his eyes, it wasn’t just a form; it represented over a hundred thousand.

”Nevermind. Since Zhao Qiang’s problem is solved, you can handle it. It’ll save me the trouble.”

Du Heng was acting like a petulant child. Anyway, the problem is solved. I can wash my hands of it. You all can handle it however you want; I don’t care.

Song Jiaying was a bit surprised. This was a credit delivered right to his hands, and he was just giving it up like that?

”Is there anything else?”

”No.”

”Then I’m going back.”

Under Song Jiaying’s bewildered gaze, Du Heng really did turn and leave without a shred of hesitation.

However, once he was out of the Township Government courtyard and walking down the road, Du Heng suddenly laughed out loud.

I must be losing my mind. Why am I so upset about this?

I treated that old man without expecting anything in return. I only did it because of my leader’s request.

Furthermore, I’m a doctor, and treating patients is my duty. There’s absolutely no reason to feel upset or uncomfortable.

Besides, my labor was exchanged for Zhao Qiang’s assistance, and it solved a troublesome matter for me. It’s a win-win situation.

So why was I upset?

Perhaps I felt that something which should have belonged to me was given to someone else.

But did it really belong to me?

Du Heng figured it out, and his mindset became peaceful.

He smiled to himself and then quickened his pace towards the Health Clinic. He still had patients to treat; he couldn’t just dump them all on Wu Buwei. That would be too inhumane.
