This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 204: 204 Madness calms the God

Just after the first exam bell rang, the Emergency Doctor rushed in with the medication.

Although Wang Zeyang had calmed down a little, he was still rambling incoherently and would struggle from time to time.

Thus, administering the medicine was a significant undertaking.

Wang Zeyang’s father tried to soothe him, but Wang Zeyang recognized no one. If anyone dared approach, he would reflexively spit at them.

With no other option, several teachers and the medical staff had to once again hold him down, pinch his mouth open, and forcefully administer the medicine.

However, the effect was quick. Four or five minutes later, Wang Zeyang’s body slowly relaxed, and he no longer shouted. Even his eyes suggested his consciousness was gradually recovering.

Wang Zeyang’s father hurriedly asked Du Heng, ”Doctor, can my son go to the exam room now? They’ve already started the exam, and if he’s any later, they won’t let him in.”

Du Heng shook his head, stating firmly, ”No, the child still hasn’t fully regained his senses. How can he possibly take an exam?”

”Then how much longer?”

Du Heng couldn’t help but glance at the parent.

Although this parent has said a lot about the child’s difficulties and the pressure of resuming studies, his core concern always seems to be the exam. Perhaps the child’s stress primarily comes from this father.

”Wait another ten minutes. After he takes the second dose, let him rest and be observed for ten more minutes. If everything is confirmed to be okay, then he can go take the exam.”

”That’s another twenty minutes! Will they still let him in then?”

The parent was extremely anxious, but Du Heng was powerless to help.

His and the Emergency Doctor’s responsibility was to treat the illness. The delay in entering the exam room due to the student’s condition was not their responsibility. That was something the parent needed to discuss with the exam leaders.

Subsequently, the parent did indeed go out to find the exam leaders, leaving his son in the School Infirmary.

It seems he really cares more about the exam than his child, Du Heng mused. Given the circumstances, Du Heng worried that once the child’s results were out, there could be another episode.

After ten minutes, the second dose of medicine was brought in by the police. By this time, the student had gradually returned to a normal state, though he was still slightly sluggish and appeared very tired.

Taking the second dose was much easier. Moreover, after taking the medicine, the student’s lucidity was rapidly returning.

After about twelve or thirteen minutes, the student felt completely fine and became anxious to rush to the classroom.

However, Du Heng couldn’t let him go at this point. He needed to speak with the parent to clarify the situation and explain things thoroughly.

Just then, the parent came running over with a leader.

The leader needed to confirm the student’s actual condition to see if he met the requirements. If the student were still acting erratically as before, or if his consciousness was unclear, the leader wouldn’t dare permit him to take the exam.

While the Emergency Doctor and the leader questioned the student, Du Heng pulled the father aside. ”I’ve told you before, and I’ll say it again. Because your son had that episode, he’s physically and mentally exhausted. Taking the exam in this state will undoubtedly affect his performance.”

”It’s fine. As long as he can take the exam and doesn’t have another episode, it’s fine.”

Du Heng frowned. ”He won’t have another episode, but if the pressure is too great, he might faint.”

”No, he won’t, he won’t! I’ll tell him not to feel any pressure. He can definitely do it!”

Alright then.

Hearing this, Du Heng said no more. After all, I’ve saved him, bought him time, preserved his chance, and said what needed to be said. The rest is up to his father. As a doctor, there was nothing more I could do to intervene.

The Emergency Doctor and the leader also finished their questioning. Indeed, there seemed to be no further problem with the student.

At this point, twenty-five minutes had passed since the start of the exam.

Whether the student could still enter the exam room was not up to the leader here. He also needed to seek approval from his superiors.

Du Heng didn’t concern himself with these matters. He bid farewell to the Emergency Doctor and left early.

Noticing the gossiping, curious gazes and the restless shuffling of the parents at the door, Du Heng didn’t linger and went straight back to his rental apartment.

He didn’t go out again until the exam was nearly over, at which point he went to the prearranged spot to wait for Du Xuejing.

He didn’t ask how her exam went. His role was to ensure she ate and drank well; Du Heng simply focused on the logistics.

If she wanted to review, she could study. If not, she could sleep.

「The next day, Wang Shuqiu had to work, so only Du Heng could take Du Xuejing to the exam venue. He called the hospital to let them know, then accompanied Du Xuejing to the exam.」

The last day went fairly well, with nothing eventful happening right up until the end of the afternoon exam.

Du Heng and the Emergency Doctor also chatted pleasantly throughout the day.

「When the final bell rang, watching the students swarm out, the Emergency Doctor began to pack his things, while Du Heng waited for his niece who had just finished her exam.」

However, this was also a time to witness the myriad facets of human life.

Among those emerging, some bolted like wild mustangs, free at last. Others strolled out leisurely, as if it were any other school day. Still others immediately sought out classmates to compare answers, some even bursting into loud sobs.

”Little Uncle, I’ve finished my exams!” Du Xuejing squeezed out of the crowd and skipped happily over to Du Heng. Seeing the bright joy on her face, he figured her exams must have gone well.

”Let’s go home. I’ll cook something delicious for you.”

Du Xuejing whined, holding onto Du Heng’s arm and not letting him move. ”Little Uncle, you promised to treat me to a delicious meal after my exams! You can’t go back on your word, can you?”

”Did I say that?” Du Heng looked at Du Xuejing in confusion. ”Come on, tell me, when did I ever promise you that? I don’t recall it at all.”

Du Xuejing pouted playfully. ”You definitely said it!”

Du Heng chuckled. ”Alright then, let’s go eat. What do you want to eat?”

Du Xuejing thought for a moment and said, ”Hot pot.”

”Du Xuejing, are you feeling alright?”

”Yes, why?”

”Then why on earth would you want to eat hot pot? Look at the weather! It’s summer, 32 degrees Celsius today! What are you thinking?”

Du Xuejing paid him no mind, still shaking his arm. ”I don’t care, I just want to eat it! Besides, eating hot pot in this heat is incredibly satisfying. Sweating buckets is just like a sauna!”

Du Heng wasn’t amused. ”So you *do* realize it’s like a sauna?” Ignoring Du Xuejing, he started walking away, muttering, ”Alright, stop shaking me. We’ll eat, we’ll eat.”

However, they couldn’t go right away; they had to wait for Wang Shuqiu to finish work. So, the two of them headed back to the rental apartment first.

Just as they got inside, Du Heng received a phone call from Xu Pinglin.

Xu Pinglin sounded overjoyed on the phone, his delight evident in his voice. He insisted on treating Du Heng to dinner, and it was an invitation that couldn’t be refused.

After hanging up, Du Heng turned to Du Xuejing apologetically. ”Sorry, I have something tonight. You and your little aunt can go eat.”

Du Xuejing looked a little disappointed.

”I’ll pay. You two can eat whatever you like, okay?”

”Then how much will you give us?”

”Just the two of you... is 300 yuan enough?”

Du Xuejing deliberately rolled her eyes, pretending to ponder, then said with feigned reluctance, ”Fine, I guess that’ll do.”

This girl is so easy to please, Du Heng chuckled to himself. When transferring money to Wang Shuqiu, though, he sent 2,000 yuan, telling them to spend it as they wished. He also let her know he had plans for the evening and wouldn’t be home for dinner, so they shouldn’t wait up for him.
