Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

167: Chapter 167 Slow Progress on the Southern RouteAs Zhao Wei tallied the inventory, he looked at the empty warehouse shelves, his mouth twitching as he muttered to himself:

Honestly, I originally thought that when we came on this trip, we’d just be scraping together some water-logged canned goods and moldy rice bags.

Who knew—

He glanced at Ye Nanxing’s back as she calmly operated the Space Anchor Point, smacking his lips: ”So many good supplies... and they were just waiting here neatly for us to collect them?”

But all things considered, Sister, I still prefer the fresh meat you have in your space.

Freshly cut.

Zhang Tianjin, who was moving cargo nearby, laughed: ”Oh, give it a rest. If it weren’t for Sister Ye, you wouldn’t even be able to eat a scrap of meat.”

Zhou Cheng ignored them, his eyes narrowed as he stared at cabinet after cabinet of packaged high-energy compressed biscuits and medical kits:

These things, even if we don’t eat or use them, could serve as the most valuable currency in the Apocalypse.

You don’t know this, but in the black market outside, people are even trading old-world sunscreen.

And what we have here is the bottom-of-the-barrel stock from a national-level warehouse.

In other words... we are absolutely loaded now.

Chu Yunting listened to their chatter, his expression calm as he said:

There’s no need to be surprised that this warehouse has remained until now.

First, the tide rose quickly; half a year ago, this place was basically half-submerged.

Second, this area belongs to a military evacuation route near the port, and there are many minefield warning signs nearby, so ordinary survivors dare not trespass.

Third, when the government evacuated early on, they only took the most urgently needed vaccines and portable medical kits; they couldn’t take the large equipment and heavy supplies, so they simply abandoned them.

By the time the tide receded... those who had the ability to collect them had already lost their lives.

We just happened to catch the triple conditions of the receding tide, timing, and luck.

Of course, the most important thing...

He looked at Ye Nanxing and smiled faintly: ”Is that we have someone who can ’pack away’ all of this.”

Ye Nanxing still didn’t speak.

She just lowered her head and gently twisted the anchor device in her palm.

[Identifying anchor point...]

[Cold chain storage area transfer complete]

[Refrigeration module conversion successful. Can store vaccines, heat-sensitive drugs, and biological samples long-term.]

The space panel prompts kept popping up.

Her eyes were calm, yet exceptionally firm.

This was not her glory.

This was the lifeblood of the base, the bottom line for the future.

Watching her calm and efficient operations, Zhang Tianjin couldn’t help but laugh out loud: ”Sister, you really aren’t just collecting old supplies now.”

You are digging up the last of humanity’s trump cards.

We really aren’t here to scavenge; we are here to clean up the mess left by civilization.

Ye Nanxing spoke calmly then: ”I am not doing this for glory, nor to become some ’Lord of Reconstruction’.”

I just think—

The Apocalypse is too hard.

So I’ll collect a bit more.

To make our lives a little less difficult.

When these words fell, everyone went silent.

No one joked anymore.

The wind blew through the broken steel windows of the warehouse, kicking up sand from the beach and drying the sweat covering their bodies.

This journey had been too difficult; they had walked a very bitter path.

But now, they had personally packed away the foundation for ”survival.”

[Total harvest: 32 tons, 47 types of high-grade survival supplies]

[Medical: Full set of emergency protocols (including vaccine modules)]

[Energy: Solar, wind, and energy storage modules intact]

[Basic rations: Enough to sustain 10,000 people for 100 days (conservative estimate)]

[Preparing for return trip...]

Ye Nanxing slowly closed the space panel and looked up at the scorching sky.

The sun was blazing, and the air seemed to ripple like flames.

But there was no impatience in her eyes, only calm determination.

Wrap it up.

Return trip.

The next heatwave... won’t be any better than this one.

Zhao Wei suddenly turned his head, looking at the boundless beach, his eyes lighting up.

Hey, tell you what—

Since we’re already at the seaside, how about we get some seafood to take back?

Although our base isn’t short on food, on such a hot day, if we could have some seafood soup, the taste...

The more he talked, the more vivid the image became, and he even wiped his sweat and smacked his lips: ”Tsk, that pot of crab, kelp, fresh shrimp, and shellfish... it would smell heavenly.”

Hearing this, Zhang Tianjin immediately chimed in: ”Damn, now that you mention it, I’m craving it too! How about I go catch a couple of fish?”

Zhou Cheng’s mouth twitched, and he interrupted in a gloomy tone: ”You really dare to go into the sea?”

Zombies have mutated. Do you think you’d even recognize any of the ’seafood’ in the water anymore?

You might go down there and fish up a three-eyed fish-man or a shelled, salty, poisonous crab.

Before you put it in the pot, you’d have to test it for toxins, radiation, and spiritual pollution.

Zhao Wei: ”...”

Zhang Tianjin: ”...Suddenly, I’ve lost my appetite.”

Chu Yunting glanced at Zhao Wei and said flatly: ”Sure, go ahead and catch some if you want.”

As long as you dare to eat it.

I won’t stop you, and I can even provide you with a wooden sign: ’Died Heroically Due to Gluttony’.”

Sun Hao was already laughing in the passenger seat: ”Stop joking around, guys. Looting a warehouse together is fine, but let’s skip the ’suicidal diving’ together.”

Ye Nanxing didn’t join in the banter; she just organized her gear in the front, not even turning her head as she said:

When we get back, I have frozen shrimp and crab sticks in my space.

Whether there’s enough to eat is one thing—at least you’ll be able to tell what they look like.

Zhao Wei sat up straight immediately: ”Sister Ye is awesome!”

Zhang Tianjin added: ”Never underestimate the inventory of a space ability user, especially when her space can preserve things.”

The inventory of Ningzhou Abandoned Port was complete.

Two modified pickup trucks drove onto the cracked coastal highway, their wheels crushing the asphalt bleached white by the sea breeze, kicking up fine dust.

Heading north, destination: Tianlang Mountain.

But this time, Ye Nanxing did not immediately issue the order to ”return at full speed.”

In the passenger seat, Zhou Cheng was reviewing a real-time broadcast synchronized from the government information platform.

His gaze fell on a red dot on the map, and he spoke softly: ”Sister Ye, I suggest we don’t go straight back.”

On the route, we will pass by ’Wangchuan Refuge Point’ and ’Fengling Supply Transfer Station’.

These two places have received over 8,000 refugees in the last three days—they are both nodes in the government-organized survivor migration route.

When there are a lot of people, it’s easy for things to ’slip through the cracks’.

There might be supplies, and there might also be trouble.

Chu Yunting also leaned back in the rear seat, flipping through a paper map, his voice calm:

Although these places are survivor gathering points established by the government, there are definitely things that weren’t taken away.

Some things—they couldn’t carry them, and they didn’t value them.

But we can use them.

For example, temporary containment warehouses, combat camp modules, backup medical stands, and even abandoned but repairable energy units.

Taking our time isn’t a waste of time.

It’s treasure hunting along the way.
