Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

159: Chapter 159 Spreading HarvestAnd outside Tianlang Mountain, the world—was collapsing once again at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Although human civilization was already in tatters, some network nodes still survived since the Apocalypse began.

High-frequency communication links were maintained between large bases and the ”Wind Eye Core,” though ordinary people could no longer use them directly.

At this moment, Zhou Cheng was using the Tianlang Mountain main control room to connect to [Northern Outpost · Wind Eye Station No. 2], retrieving the latest satellite and drone imagery of the outside world.

Images were synchronized onto the tactical projection screen one by one.

Everyone held their breath.

The cities in the lens were no longer ruins, but ”furnaces.”

Under direct sunlight, the temperature of the exterior walls of high-rise buildings soared to over seventy or eighty degrees; glass curtain walls shattered everywhere, and asphalt roads softened and flowed like thick black blood.

Simply being near the exposed metal railings could burn the skin.

The air was filled with a suffocating and nauseating mixture of metal oxidation and the smell of scorched carrion.

The green grass that had just sprouted was now completely withered and yellow, leaves were curling, and the soil was parched and cracked.

Farmland was completely deactivated, the vegetation mortality rate exceeded 92%, oxygen concentration dropped, and some low-oxygen areas even saw ”Dyspnea Syndrome.”

Large numbers of wilderness survivors lay dead by the roadside, their faces swollen and their mouths and noses parched and cracked, like an irreversible heat plague spreading silently.

Photos sent back by Zhou Xiao from the Wind Eye showed that natural lakes that hadn’t dried up in decades were now parched to the bottom.

In the images, the remains of vehicles were stranded on the cracked lakebeds, the oxidized and rusted metal reflecting light piercingly.

As for the riverbeds, now only jagged sand, stones, and bleached bones remained—

Even the ice layers frozen at the bottom of reservoirs were being ”evaporated” alive.

The zombies from the extreme cold period were now moving sluggishly, their skin cracked and peeling.

Many were ”dried out” directly under the sun, falling motionless like shriveled humanoid specimens.

But—

New mutants were also quietly being born.

Their muscles were tighter, their joints stiff yet full of explosive power; their eyes adapted to night vision, with a high capability to capture heat sources.

They lurked in the night, hiding in shadows, becoming the ”Night Hunters” of the extreme heat environment.

Those who had survived the extreme cold thought they would welcome spring once the snow melted, only to find:

What awaited them was not hope, but a ”steamer.”

Global air humidity dropped suddenly, and water vapor evaporated too quickly, leading to a large-scale outbreak of heatstroke.

Those with insufficient physical fitness or lacking equipment fell one after another within just a few days.

Many could not withstand the high temperatures, directly fainting from the heat, convulsing, becoming delirious, and finally dying of dehydration or organ failure.

Shelters that could still rely on fuel for warmth during the extreme cold had now mostly exhausted their electricity and fuel.

Air conditioning became the line between life and death.

Bases with solar power generation and storage equipment could still maintain constant temperature systems, while those humans without reserves could only move underground, relying on the temperature of the earth for a chance at survival.

But the price was: confined spaces, humid air, and rotting corpses—an outbreak of disease was only a matter of time.

Those who had been frozen into the snow layers were now ”revealing” themselves.

Their corpses thawed from the thick snow, then rotted and shriveled under the scorching sun, emitting an indescribable odor.

The space between the ruins and the cities had become a ”wasteland of corpses.”

Mummified human remains with scorched flesh, protruding eyeballs, and twisted joints could be seen everywhere.

And among these corpses, some began to mutate.

Decay twisted amidst the evaporation—turning into some kind of brand-new form of zombie ”vessel.”

[The world has entered the Extreme Heat Temperature-Lock Period]

[Surface temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere are expected to steadily exceed 55°C]

[All surviving bases are requested to activate resource sealing plans; non-essential outings are strictly prohibited]

[If new types of mutants are discovered, please report them immediately to the Regional Wind Eye Command]

The broadcast announcement, accompanied by a flashing red warning icon, appeared on all public terminals that had not yet been disconnected.

The voice penetrated the main control room of the Tianlang Mountain Base and pierced everyone’s eardrums.

Ye Nanxing stood before the communication console, her expression calm but her eyes deep.

This was the second time since the Apocalypse began that the government had issued a large-scale real-time warning.

The last time was when the extreme cold first arrived, on the first night of the total freeze.

In her previous life, Ye Nanxing had survived alone, only caring about staying alive in the snowy nights, never realizing:

—The government had, in fact, never disappeared.

It was just buried under the ”deep-level operations” of the end times.

Only now did she know that those drones that had secretly delivered ”Constant Temperature Suits” and ”Energy Capsules” at the border might not have been accidentally passing by as wreckage supplies, but rather the silent rescue of some ”survival system.”

As global temperatures rose suddenly, a large number of government stockpiles, military bunkers, and frozen supply points buried under the ice layers finally ”thawed.”

High-energy zones, energy storage towers, and strategic supply stations that were previously inaccessible due to the cold ”revived” one after another.

And the remaining military forces of the government in various places also began to reorganize:

Northern Border Base No. 7 restarts resource recovery operations.

The Southwest Yunling Region deploys mechanical squads to salvage frozen ammunition.

The ”Wind Eye Mainline” recalls all researchers to retrieve post-disaster reconstruction plans.

But it wasn’t just the government.

After that night, the ice and snow receded, and the dust-covered ruins saw the light of day again.

Long-lurking grey forces, small armed bases, and nomadic teams also made their appearances.

Some took the opportunity to loot supplies and coerce survivors into building private strongholds;

Some disguised themselves as rescue teams, forcibly requisitioning resources in the name of the high temperatures;

And some extremist organizations—taking advantage of the heat plague’s arrival, spread ”Doomsday Myths,” claiming this was not the destruction of the world, but a ”Judgment of Purification.”

They slithered like venomous snakes through the cracks of the old and new worlds, attempting to occupy a place in the new round of order restructuring.

On the giant electronic map in the Tianlang Mountain main control room, red dots continued to spread, and blue lines continued to converge.

While retrieving data sent back from various places, Zhou Cheng whispered:

”The government’s power is regrouping.”

”But it also means—a new power struggle has begun.”

Chu Yunting stood behind him, his gaze profound:

”This isn’t just a ’Hot Season’.”

”This is also a new ’shuffling of humanity’.”

Tianlang Mountain Base · The main water pump has been operating for ten days.

Water was still being pumped steadily from the wellhead; it felt as if a layer of the entire eastern side of the mountain had been hollowed out.

But—

At 5:52 AM, Zhou Cheng was the first to discover an anomaly on the control console:

”Anchor feedback value anomaly! The water pressure hasn’t changed, but the water intake has plummeted!”

Lin Xiao instantly appeared before the console, his gaze narrowing: ”The Spatial Tunnel... it seems to be filled to capacity.”

”Anchor feedback—lagging.”

He immediately picked up the communicator:

”Nanxing, the Anchor isn’t taking in water anymore. Is your space—”

At this time, Ye Nanxing was by the Spiritual Spring, repairing the Anchor Array.

Her brows furrowed slightly, seeing at a glance: the water level of the spatial ”lakebed” had risen to the edge, pressing firmly against the ”energy barrier” outside the Spiritual Spring, vibrating slightly.

It was a critical state.

If any more water entered, the Spatial Tunnel would experience energy backflow—

Even she couldn’t ”swallow” indefinitely; she needed to readjust the structure.
