Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

154: Chapter 154 Snow MeltingAfter eating and drinking their fill, the lingering scent of food and the warmth of the heaters filled the three RVs. Outside, the cold wind still roared, but inside, it was a different world of gentleness.

Zhang Tianjin slumped on the sofa, rubbing his belly as he sighed with emotion.

”I have this illusion, like we’re not in the Apocalypse, but in a VIP suite at a Nordic ski resort.”

Zhao Wei propped up his chin, his eyes hazy. ”I’m really afraid that the moment I wake up, all of this will be a dream... and we’ll still be huddled around a fire in the rift, gnawing on compressed biscuits.”

Chu Yunting spoke indifferently, his tone calm yet meaningful.

”Her dream... is real.”

”But our reality will become even more real because of her.”

Hearing this, everyone fell into a brief silence.

Even Chu Yunting, who had been a business tycoon before the Apocalypse, with his family owning dozens of large shelters, strategic supplies, and laboratories—

He had never imagined that in this freezing world where resources had collapsed, he could still eat such a refined, steaming hot pot with ingredients so fresh they were almost ”picky.”

He quietly looked at Ye Nanxing’s indifferent face.

Realizing for the first time—

That this woman’s ”foresight” and ”planning” had long since surpassed the scope of a mere survivor.

Meanwhile, the shock in the hearts of Zhou Xiao and Shang Xu was even more intense.

They had always thought they were living quite well in the Apocalypse—

Having a base, energy, communications, elite teams, and mobile supply convoys...

But until today.

Seeing this constant-temperature RV, this hot pot meal, and that box of well-preserved milk tea, coffee, juice, fresh milk, ice cream... even post-meal desserts.

They finally understood one thing:

”We are surviving.”

”She is living.”

Shang Xu sat in a corner, holding an empty milk tea cup with a complex expression. ”...Is it too late to change bosses now?”

There is no eternal warmth in the Apocalypse.

After resting, Ye Nanxing stood up, wiped the remaining soup from the corner of her mouth, and exhaled softly.

”I’m full.”

She looked up at the snowy fields in the distance, still shrouded in cold mist.

”Back to Tianlang Mountain.”

Chu Yunting immediately stood up. ”I’ve already arranged personnel on my side; we can integrate the logistics queue simultaneously.”

Zhou Xiao nodded. ”I’ll send word back to the communication station to delay the Wind Eye Project... I want to see your base again.”

He whispered, ”After all, these days, many people are surviving, but very few can ’look ahead’.”

The convoy slowly advanced toward Tianlang Mountain, the three RVs stretching across the land once ruled by wind and snow like three spines on the snowy plains.

But something strange began to emerge on the second day.

”...Don’t you guys feel like something’s not right?” Zhao Wei sat in the passenger seat, his brow furrowed.

”The snow on the ground... is thinner.” Zhou Cheng leaned against the window, his gaze scanning the ground inch by inch. ”That low-lying snowy area we passed yesterday is showing soil today.”

”And the wind is gone,” Sun Hao said softly. ”The closer we get to Tianlang Mountain, the higher the temperature gets instead.”

”This isn’t the influence of our base’s heating devices.” Chu Yunting opened his Tactical Terminal and pulled up a map. ”The entire region... including the direction we came from, is warming up.”

Yan sat in the corner, his fingertips moving slightly, his voice very soft.

”It’s not a regional change.”

”It’s... a global atmospheric pattern reconfiguration.”

Everyone snapped their heads toward him.

”You mean the cold wave is receding?” Zhang Tianjin’s tone couldn’t hide his shock. ”The extreme cold of the Apocalypse is disappearing?”

Yan nodded imperceptibly. ”Perhaps not disappearing, but being ’forced to end’.”

”Like a certain system has finally finished running its predetermined script.”

On the afternoon of the second day of the return journey, Sun Hao was the first to notice something was off.

He opened the window to air out the car and was suddenly stunned. ”...Don’t you feel it? The wind isn’t cold anymore.”

Hearing this, the group fell silent for a moment.

The wind outside the window still whistled, but the bone-chilling cold that could crack a person’s face was gone.

Zhao Wei touched the inside of the window—there was actually no frost.

”...Something’s wrong,” he whispered. ”We’re still a day away from the base. Logically, the closer we get to Tianlang Mountain, the lower the temperature should be.”

”But now... it’s getting warmer and warmer.”

On the morning of the third day, the long-absent sun actually peeked out.

The convoy entered the outskirts of Tianlang Mountain.

The sight ahead made almost everyone get out of their cars at the same time, standing in the open space for a long time without speaking.

—It was the Tianlang Mountain they were familiar with.

Yet, it also seemed like another world.

The snow on the road was only a thin layer, and the wind carried a faint moisture, no longer an icy chill that made teeth chatter.

In the distant mountain forests, at some point, light green buds had actually appeared on the withered branches. Some even saw from a distance the first petal of a light purple wildflower blooming in the mud at the foot of the mountain.

The sky was bright, the snow was melting, and the air was fresh, as if spring had pierced through hell ahead of time and spilled into the world.

”Holy crap... am I dreaming?” Zhang Tianjin’s mouth wouldn’t even close. ”Who would’ve thought this life could last until things started blooming?”

”Did we really... make it through?” Sun Hao murmured, his eyes turning red.

”Those days of being afraid of freezing to death every day, of fingers snapping off if the wind blew... are they really over?” Zhao Wei looked at Ye Nanxing, his voice low and raspy.

Shang Xu looked around, unable to help hugging her arms. ”No, it’s not right... it’s too fast. How can it be this fast? We were just mining in the snow a few days ago...”

Her voice carried an instinctive rejection, like someone suddenly pulled from a long night into the sunlight—it wasn’t that she didn’t like the light, but that she didn’t believe it was real.

Ye Nanxing stood in front of everyone, her gaze distant, as if piercing through the entire mountain range.

She didn’t show an expression of relief; instead, her brow furrowed slightly as she looked up at the ”excessively clear” sky on the horizon.

”...The world hasn’t been restored.”

Her tone was calm, yet it made everyone’s heart tighten.

”The cold wave is over.”

”But the Apocalypse... not necessarily.”

Yan stood beside her, his brow deeply furrowed, his tone carrying a cold, absolute certainty:

”The threads of the Mental Pollution Source suddenly snapped across the board the night before last.”

”Like some master system was forced to terminate.”

”...And now, a ’new system’ is rewriting the world’s underlying rules.”

”Spring isn’t necessarily hope.”

”It might be those so-called gods putting on a new disguise to continue their dream.”

The convoy slowly drove into the Tianlang Mountain Base.

The metal gates opened automatically. Where it had once been frozen solid, now only thin, wet slush remained. The wheels made a ”crunching” sound as they rolled over it.

The air was crisp and cold, and sunlight spilled onto the brand-new main road of the base—

While the soldiers standing on both sides of the passage, in their sharp uniforms, raised their hands in a synchronized salute.

That salute was no longer just a gesture of system and obedience.

It was a kind of... instinctive faith after witnessing the return of a miracle.
