Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

166: Chapter 166 Warehouse No. 7Outside Warehouse 7, the rusted metal door was half-open, and a wave of dampness, thicker than that in Warehouse 5, rushed toward them.

In the air, there was a faint, fishy stench—like the smell of rotting meat fermented in water.

Ye Nanxing stood at the entrance, raised her hand, and the Space Anchor Point in her palm vibrated slightly.

[Alert: Increased frequency of anomalies in the area. Abnormal humidity. Signs of non-standard life forms present.]

”Zhao Wei.”

”Clear the line, prioritize scanning the right shelf aisle.”

”Zhang Tianjin, come with me. Focus on checking the intersection of Zone A and Zone C.”

Chu Yunting drew his short blade, his tone as calm as ever: ”I’ll cover the rear.”

Ye Nanxing nodded: ”Keep the Space Anchor Point stable and advance with me.”

The interior of Warehouse 7 was darker than Warehouse 5, with even the walls covered in long water stains and black spots.

The emergency lights were dead, the air was so damp it could almost drip water, and their footsteps clicked against the steel floor.

In the center of the warehouse was a row of shelves submerged halfway in water, four meters high, most of them rusted and deformed.

And in the innermost layer of those shelves, rows of well-packaged [Grade A Grain Packs] were stacked silently.

—But no one moved.

Because there was ”movement” in the water.

”Don’t go in.” Zhao Wei immediately raised his hand to stop them.

Everyone held their breath, and then, with a ”splash—” sound,

a wrinkled, humanoid shadow slowly emerged from the water.

Its whole body looked like rotten, bloated human skin wrapped around a skeleton, its back arched, and its eyes had no pupils, only empty, black holes.

”Mutated Water Corpse,” Chu Yunting said coldly.

”And it has been catalyzed by seawater; its structure is ridiculously stable.”

Zhang Tianjin cursed: ”We never saw this thing at the inland base before!”

”It’s normal that you haven’t seen it,” Zhou Cheng replied in a low voice over the earpiece.

”Extreme heat + seawater + zombification + dampness... This kind of mutant can only be generated under these ’special warehouse + corrupted water area’ conditions.”

”Don’t get into a brawl, handle it quickly.”

”Don’t get into a brawl? That doesn’t apply to Sister Ye, does it?” Zhao Wei said, while raising his gun and firing an ”Armor-Piercing Round.”

”Bang!”

The first Mutated Water Corpse had its head blown off, but another one rushed out from behind the shelves, moving extremely fast, crawling on all fours like a lizard!

”Right side—!” Just as Zhang Tianjin’s warning fell, Chu Yunting flipped his wrist, and his short blade pierced its jaw, slicing all the way down its spine.

Three minutes later, all four Water Corpses were dealt with, and the area returned to calm.

Zhou Cheng confirmed over the comms: ”Mutants in the warehouse cleared, you can start transporting.”

Ye Nanxing didn’t waste time and immediately raised her hand to activate the Space Anchor Point:

[Identifying Grade A Emergency Grain Packs. Current: 0 → 176 → 315 boxes]

[Detected Grade C components. Model update: Combat-ready energy storage cells (large)]

[Cumulative weight: 8.2 tons]

She didn’t stop, moving like a ”clearance agent walking through the ruins of war.”

Chu Yunting, while assisting, said in a low voice: ”You aren’t just moving supplies now.”

”You are liquidating the trump cards of the old world.”

Ye Nanxing didn’t respond, just calmly said:

”Any later by a week—and this place would be inaccessible.”

Warehouse 7 was cleared.

Everyone stood at the entrance.

Zhao Wei caught his breath, looked at the rising tide in the distance, and cursed under his breath:

”How many more are there?”

Ye Nanxing looked toward the last lone high-rise warehouse standing there:

”Warehouse 11.”

”Final cleanup.”

”Let’s go.”

The sun rose higher and higher, the reflection from the sea was blinding, and the air felt like it was burning.

The entire abandoned port felt as if it were covered by a steamer.

Zhao Wei licked his dry, cracked lips: ”It’s abnormally hot; the air even feels poisonous.”

”Tide level rose by 8 centimeters.” Zhou Cheng looked at the terminal alert: ”The operational window is estimated to last 1 hour and 40 minutes, after which the bottom floor of the warehouse will be at risk of flooding.”

”Let’s go.” Ye Nanxing didn’t say much and stepped forward first.

This warehouse was more remote, almost adjacent to the original port’s freight tracks. Its overall exterior was well-preserved, and the steel structure at the entrance even still hung the sign: [Military Material Storage Zone].

But the warehouse door was blocked by a pile of debris, so they could only enter through the side loading chute.

Zhao Wei pushed aside the debris and whispered: ”This place doesn’t seem as deserted as Warehouse 5 or 7... Could someone have been here before?”

Zhang Tianjin pursed his lips: ”If someone has been in here, there might be some... unpleasant ’things’ left behind.”

As they pushed the door open.

A mixed smell of ”fishy rot + engine oil + scorched plastic” rushed out, and everyone frowned at the same time.

”Something is wrong here.” Chu Yunting narrowed his eyes, his gaze scanning the surroundings vigilantly.

The interior of the warehouse was a closed structure with an intact ceiling, which instead trapped more heat, forming a sealed ”braising environment.”

The goods were still neatly stacked—rows of military crates, cabinets of plastic-sealed grain, racks of solar panels, and even complete sets of backup water purification equipment.

But in the air, there was a faint, rustling sound...

Zhou Cheng’s earpiece transmitted: ”Sound detection abnormal, sound source location failed. Possibly a non-standard mutant organism.”

”Everyone, be careful. It might not be a Water Corpse.”

Ye Nanxing suddenly stopped: ”Above.”

”Click—”

Just as Zhao Wei looked up, a translucent shadow slid down from the ceiling!

It was like a gelatinous, shapeless, wriggling mass, and it was incredibly fast!

”It’s not a corpse, it’s a ’Mimic’!” Chu Yunting shouted in a low, angry voice!

Zhang Tianjin cursed: ”Damn, I’ve only ever seen this thing in experiment reports before. Isn’t this a bit too realistic?”

The Mimic’s body was covered in heat-sensitive scales that could simulate surrounding temperatures and colors, making it almost completely blend into the background in this braising-hot warehouse, making it extremely difficult to detect.

”I’ll handle it!” Ye Nanxing raised her hand, and the Space Anchor Point was instantly released!

[Multiple Lockdown · Spiral Array · Thermal-Locking Net] Activated!

The Mimic’s shadow was about to pounce, but it was like running into a transparent cage, ”frozen” on the spot!

Chu Yunting took the opportunity to strike, stabbing his short blade into its core!

A low whine sounded, and the air seemed to be peeled back—

”Done.” Ye Nanxing said coldly.

The air was stifling, almost viscous. Ye Nanxing stood inside Warehouse 11, her gaze sweeping over rows of high-racked cargo boxes labeled with military identification numbers.

She raised her hand and tapped the Space Anchor Point; the next second, the entire shelf in front of her seemed to ”de-materialize” and vanished without a trace.

The space alerts flooded the screen:

[Identified Supplies: Grade D · Water Purification Equipment × 5]

[High-Pressure Water Storage Tanks × 12 · Core Purification Modules × 8]

[Grade A Military Standard Grain Packs: 612 boxes]

[Compressed Energy Bars · Nutritional Porridge Packs · High-Calorie Rice Bricks]

[Grade C Solar Panels: 14 units]

[Micro Wind Turbine Sets: 3 units · Kinetic Energy Conversion Ratio: 83%]

[Storage Progress: 72%]

Zhao Wei, while recording on his terminal, gasped: ”Water purification equipment... solar power... and backup wind conversion sets?”

He muttered: ”This stuff isn’t something you see in just any Shelter... This is what a major nation uses to support its national emergency line...”

”What are we even digging up here?” He turned back to look at Ye Nanxing, his eyes having changed from shock to awe.
