Emperor’s Domination

A water-tight blockade surrounded Centurial Peak while the attackers prepared for the siege.

Goldclad and Lostmetal had a solemn expression, the same with their powerful allies.

“Brother Dragon-pill, Senior Solar, what is the meaning of this?” Goldclad bowed from a distance while maintaining his imperial aura.

He and Lostmetal alone could still eradicate armies in the absence of worthy foes. The other side had Solar Monarch - a heavenreach desolate god and Dragon-pill, a world’s canopy emperor. Thus, they were outmatched.

“The supreme ancestor ordered for one of two things, either the destruction of the legacy process or the eradication of the Chen.” Solar spoke firmly with no room for negotiation. His voice echoed for everyone to hear.

Members of both sides became emotional upon hearing this. For the Chen, this was pushing them down the cliff.

“I wish to ask the ancestor, what crime have we committed?” Lostmetal took a deep breath and asked loudly, speaking directly to Li Qiye.

However, no response came. He had lost the privilege of speaking to the supreme ancestor.

It seemed this was an order and not the time to listen to the defense. They had two choices - accept or resist.

Not long ago, Tenth-gen Chen asked for forgiveness and had a dialogue with the supreme ancestor. Now, they have lost the qualification to do so.

“Goldclad, Lostmetal, now is the time to yield.” Dragon-pill was more friendly than Solar.

“Our branch has done nothing warranting this army to massacre us. We are members of the same sect.” Lostmetal said.

“Nothing?” Solar’s eyes spewed out terrifying flames: “Sacrificing a hundred thousand lives for soul evocation, that is unforgivable.”

“Soul evocation?” Those who heard it shuddered.

“Which soul?” One disciple asked.

“Ten-realm Emperor, who else?” An expert whispered: “They need him for the legacy so he must return.”

“He’s executed already, is it possible?” The disciple asked.

“Rumor has it the Chen had always snuck these ceremonies in for the legacy process. They always prevented anyone from entering too.” An expert responded.

“A hundred thousand cultivators for his soul…” Another repeated.

Listeners felt nauseous while imagining the flesh and bones being refined for this sake.

“They were willing, I’m sure.” The expert said.

“Crazy, no different from a cult.” One disciple turned pale.

If Old World were to find out about this heretical act, their sect’s reputation would crumble.

“That is unfair, Senior.” Goldclad said: “Our members are willingly offering their lives for the emperor’s return. They are not dead and will come back in another form…”

“Nonsense! Desolate Frontier does not permit this evil path. Would you sacrifice your life?” Solar interrupted him.

Goldclad took a deep breath and said: “I have done research on the legacy processes, there is always improvement after each attempt, a unique way to reach the immortal realm. I will also sacrifice myself when the time is right and return as an immortal.”

His response instilled chills into listeners. Since they weren’t from the Chen, they couldn’t accept the sacrificial method. Moreover, it was a foreign and taboo concept to them.

The same couldn’t be said about the Chen who were indoctrinated at birth and considered this the highest honor.

“You are going down the wrong path. Turn back now before it’s too late.” Dragon-pill shook his head.

“No one is being forced here, our members are free to leave. This is a devotion to the path of immortality, we wish for Desolate Frontier to have another immortal. How can this be the wrong path?” Lostmetal answered.

“One hundred generations to become an immortal, it is an honor.” Goldclad said while looking at his fellow clan members.

“After a hundred attempts, we shall return as an immortal!” They roared back at him.
