The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

“Do you think big brother is ruthless?” Song Zhiyuan looked at Song Zhiyu and asked.

After discussing Niu Pan’er’s return to the Northeast, Song Zhiyuan left the youngest alone to talk.

Song Zhiyu hung his head and said gloomily, “How dare I, big brother is just prioritizing the bigger picture.”

“That’s what you say, but you’re probably cursing me in your heart,” Song Zhiyuan chuckled softly.

Song Zhiyu muttered, “Now I not only have to be separated from my flesh and blood, but my mother’s family—no, my own family—also has to abandon me. Can’t I curse twice?”

Song Zhiyuan walked to his side, reached out to touch his head, and said, “Old Four, among the brothers, you’re the little lucky star born into a cozy nest. When you were born, the family already had its foundation. No one expects you to make any major contributions, live freely as you like, no one lives as comfortably as you.”

Song Zhiyu: Sounds like praise, but feels more like he’s calling me useless!

“Before you got married, the family backed you up, and you were married to Prince Dingbei’s Mansion. So calling you a little lucky star isn’t wrong.”

Song Zhiyu couldn’t hold back, and said, “I was born with a life of wealth and fortune, what’s so unusual about that.”

Commonly known as living life lying down.

No, is big brother jealous of me?

Song Zhiyuan was a bit speechless, and said, “Nothing unusual, so for this life of wealth and fortune, you should grow up, be sensible, understand the situation of Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, and even the Prime Minister’s Mansion, consider the future of both houses, think about what’s the best choice for both families.”

Song Zhiyu said, “I know, but big brother, does it have to be done this way? After all, I’m a Song Family member!”

How could he become distant from the Song Family?

Song Zhiyuan said, “Old Four, even among brothers accounts must be settled clearly. Once brothers marry, each has their own family, and further development means several branches. The longer and more numerous these branches stretch, the more prosperous the family behind is. Big brother doesn’t want you to harbor ill feelings or completely abandon the Song Family. Instead, he wants you to remember your most important family is with Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, because your son is the heir there. That branch should be your priority.”

Song Zhiyu shivered.

“Of course, big brother hopes the two families are close, but will those in power be happy about that? The emperor’s mind is always unfathomable; Old Four, the higher you stand, the more precarious it is, every step requiring foresight of ten steps ahead. All this is merely for the development and extension of the family. Some things, even knowing they can’t be done, are pursued for the true aspirations within.”

Song Zhiyu felt discomfort and said, “Big brother, you don’t need to explain, I understand, but I can’t accept it just yet.”

“When you go to the Northeast, who knows how many years it will be before we meet again, by then, you’ll understand.” Song Zhiyuan knew well that once he went to the Northeast, the brothers would rarely meet, for returning is easy but leaving is hard, depending on the mood of those in power.

Song Zhiyu felt even more depressed inside.

“Old Four, with your branch out there, the Song Family has one more person who can provide support. If the Song Family faces difficulties in the future, big brother hopes your branch can lend a hand. Similarly, if Prince Dingbei faces trouble, the Song Family will also lend support.” Song Zhiyuan looked at him with sparkling eyes.

Song Zhiyu’s breathing tightened slightly, then nodded after a long pause, “Big brother, I understand.”

“Since you understand, go home and properly send off your wife, don’t weep like a woman and become a laughingstock.” Being the caring big brother isn’t easy.

Song Zhiyu: “…”

Big brother, you’d better talk more about profound reasoning than say such blunt and piercing words!
