The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Guan Shuyan and Song Lingsu, this young couple, were accompanying Madam Song in the main courtyard for breakfast. However, Shuyan was standing beside Madam Song, holding a pair of silver chopsticks wrapped in white cotton cloth with one hand, and her other sleeve was lightly rolled up. What was this if not setting an example of proper conduct?

Song Lingsu glanced at her, then at Madam Song, wanting to speak but holding back.

Madam Song wasn’t oblivious. Seeing this, though she felt a bit sour inside, her lips curled slightly. Her son was married now, and there was a woman in his heart; he knew how to care.

”Good child, you sit down too. In our family, we don’t follow the strict rules,” Madam Song said with a gentle smile, looking at Guan Shuyan, ”In your maiden family, you were cherished. Now that you’ve joined the Song Family, you’re just as cherished as a daughter-in-law. There’s no need for you to serve dishes here.”

”That’s right, Yan’er, you sit down. You’ve taken away the maids’ jobs, and they’re all flustered,” Song Lingsu said with a smile.

Guan Shuyan looked at him, then at Madam Song, with a sweet smile on her face, and said, ”It’s only right for a daughter-in-law to serve her mother-in-law. Mother, you brought up my husband and raised him so excellently. Naturally, as a daughter-in-law, I’m grateful and should be filial in serving you.”

The key to the relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is to respect her, praise her, and go along with her!

Look at this, the bride’s words are as sweet as if she’s eaten honey.

Madam Song was overjoyed with the compliments, holding her hand and saying, ”Mother knows you’re filial. There will be times for you to serve, but there’s no need to establish such rules now. Let’s have breakfast together.”

Seeing her response, Guan Shuyan nodded and, before sitting down next to Song Lingsu, first served a juicy Furong bun into Madam Song’s bowl.

Seeing this, Madam Song was even more pleased. It seemed that her preferences had been carefully looked into by this daughter-in-law, with much thoughtfulness.

It’s good to be thoughtful.

The breakfast was very pleasant.

”Your grandmother is right. You two are newlyweds, go back to your courtyard and rest a bit more. Have lunch in your own courtyard,” Madam Song said, looking at Guan Shuyan. ”You don’t need to manage the household affairs for now. Get accustomed to the mansion first, and then I’ll slowly guide you on the tasks, alright?”

Guan Shuyan stuck out her tongue and said, ”Mother pampering me, all I have is gratitude. Honestly, I also need to sort out my dowry carefully. I’m used to lazing around and don’t know when I can organize it properly. I hope Mother continues to pamper me.”

She seemed completely uninterested in managing household affairs.

Madam Song playfully pointed at her, ”No matter how lazy you are, it can’t last. Your grandmother’s birthday is coming soon. Last year wasn’t a full celebration, nor will it be a grand one this year, but hosting a couple of tables at the mansion is necessary for some lively vibes. Your second and third aunts already said that with the niece-in-law in the house, they want to take a break and not be assistants. So, it can’t rely on me alone. You also have to help out.”

Guan Shuyan replied with a smile, ”Then I’ll follow Mother’s instructions when the time comes.”

Madam Song was very satisfied, urging the two to return to their courtyard.

After the young couple left, Housekeeper Ma came up with a smile, offering a cup of tea, and said, ”Young Madam seems to be very sensible. Madam, you’re fortunate.”

Madam Song said, ”After all, she’s from a Duke Mansion. Madam Guan’s upbringing isn’t bad either. I’ve heard her two sisters are also highly respected in their husband’s families. I don’t have many expectations. If she proves herself and gives me a few grandsons, then I’ll truly be fortunate.”

”I’m sure it will be. I see that the Young Madam has an appearance suitable for having sons,” Housekeeper Ma complimented with a smile, then continued, ”Oh, Madam, there’s big news from the Prince Zhou Mansion.”

Madam Song immediately became gossip-oriented.
