The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Niu Pan’er returned to the Prime Minister’s Mansion, the banquet had already dispersed, and the guests had all left. She asked around and learned that Song Zhiyu was accompanying their son for a nap, so she went to Fufeng Pavilion and sent a maid to ask where Song Zhiyuan was now, if he was free, she had something to discuss.

Song Zhiyu wasn’t asleep either. Seeing his wife come in, he put a finger to his lips to shush her and pointed outside.

Niu Pan’er sat under the southern window, looking at Song Zhiyu’s jade-like handsome face, feeling a bit lost. If she were to tell him she had to return to the Northeast, he might just burst into tears, wouldn’t he?

What to do?

Song Zhiyu felt something was amiss. His wife had returned from the palace with a somewhat gloomy look; could she have been reprimanded by the Emperor? Or relieved from an important position?

”Why did the Emperor summon you to the palace? Could it be that he finally dislikes your feminine nature and wants you to return home to be a good wife and mother?” Song Zhiyu teased, ”If that’s the case, then I really should go to the palace to compliment the Emperor for his wisdom.”

Niu Pan’er: ”...”

She blinked, inexplicably feeling warmth in her eyes, and tears fell.

Song Zhiyu panicked at the sight.

It was truly extraordinary; his wife, his son’s mother, was like a dominant figure amidst fierce animals, never shedding a tear, even childbirth which was so painful didn’t make her cry, she just gave birth without a fuss, never wailing.

This person was tougher than any man, a typical example of bleeding without shedding tears.

But now, she actually cried, shocking the whole family!

”You, what’s wrong? Could it be my jinx came true? Oh come on, even if that’s the case, there’s no need to cry, right?” Song Zhiyu was a little at a loss, furiously thinking.

What’s wrong with the Emperor, not knowing how to cherish and care, treating his wife like a man with no mercy?

The Emperor is truly wicked.

Song Zhiyu sat over, took out a handkerchief from his sleeve to wipe her tears, saying, ”Don’t cry, I was just joking. You are so mighty, if the Emperor relieved you of your position, that would be his loss.”

The more he joked like this, the more Niu Pan’er felt unable to open up.

If she parted from him, she would also be sad, wouldn’t she?

Suddenly, Niu Pan’er leaned her head on his shoulder.

Song Zhiyu: ”...”

Seriously, what’s all this about?

”Feel free to speak your mind, we can talk over anything together.” Song Zhiyu awkwardly said.

This whole situation caught him off guard.

Like a mountain king, you are not the delicate type.

Niu Pan’er raised her head, looked at him and said, ”Yulang, there will be a war in spring, Father got injured, and the Emperor has granted him permission to retire and return to the capital for honor and rest.”

”Ah!” Song Zhiyu was shocked, but smiled, ”Though it’s a bit unfilial to say this, it’s still a good thing, right? Aren’t we going to be reunited as a family?”

Niu Pan’er looked at him and said nothing.

Song Zhiyu saw reluctance and sadness in her eyes, his smile gradually fading until it disappeared.

”Father is coming back, so are you going back to the Northeast to guard it?”

He forgot, she was his wife indeed, but she was also Commandery Princess Dongyang, the sole daughter of Prince Dingbei. With Prince Dingbei retiring, the Commandery Princess trained as a successor since childhood naturally had to return to the Northeast to lead the Prince Mansion and the Niu Family army, continuing her father’s legacy.

Seeing her nod, Song Zhiyu’s vision darkened, his mind going blank.

Turns out the Emperor wasn’t relieving his wife of duty, but was arranging for his family to be separated, leaving him to guard an empty house alone!
