The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

On the floor of Chunhui Hall’s main room, there was a smooth purple bamboo mat laid out. Several children, dressed lightly, sat together, stacking various building block toys, while Song Ci watched from the Arhat bed with a smile.

”These kids, just like their big brothers, have formed their own little team. As long as they often play together, there’s no worry about their bond being weak.”

Nanny Gong glanced over with a smile. Yuanyuan, being the girl, was also dressed lightly in short sleeves and pants, wielding a small wooden sword. She often persuaded her two younger brothers not to fight over toys, laughing as she said, ”Fourth Miss certainly has a playful nature and is so cheerful.”

”Isn’t it just her parents spoiling her, turning her into a tomboy? Not afraid she won’t get married in the future,” Song Ci teased.

”They say it’s the second master who spoils her, but aren’t you the same, always mindful of bringing good things for Fourth Miss?”

Song Ci chuckled and said, ”After all, I watched her growing up—still so young. At this age, kids may be scorned by cats and dogs, but they are also the most fun.”

Nanny Gong also looked on with a face full of affection.

”Although they’re cousins, their fathers are real brothers, and their bond has always been good. The more these little ones spend time together, the stronger their relationship will be. When they grow up, they can support each other. Bonds are always built through interaction.”

Nanny Gong shook her fan and said, ”You’re speaking like a Buddhist sage again.”

”It’s clearly just chit-chat, yet you insist on praising me. I’m telling you, I won’t have it,” Song Ci pretended to complain playfully.

Nanny Gong laughed and cried, ”At your age, don’t resort to that. It’s rather unsettling.”

Song Ci spat mockingly, ”I’m telling you, inside, I’m still a tender little girl, merely sixteen.”

”This old servant believes you.”

Song Ci took a sip of tea, looked out the window, and said, ”Who knows when it will rain, with such heat lasting so long. If it doesn’t rain soon, not just the farmland outside the city will be troubled, but even in the capital, water will become an issue, won’t it? Isn’t the water level of the well in our estate dropping daily?”

Nanny Gong sighed, ”Indeed, one might hope for the Immortals to open their eyes and perform some magic if they can.”

Song Ci suddenly thought of modern artificial rain, which would be ideal here.

Oh, she had read some books talking about ancient artificial rain, using the thickness of clouds and friction, maybe burning wood or something of that sort. Thinking about it now, it seemed quite far-fetched.

With such widespread drought, relying merely on particles formed by burning wood to create water vapor for rain would be a drop in the ocean, perhaps just a brief shower.

She dared not do it—how would she explain the principle to others if she did?

Amitabha, she didn’t want to be sacrificed as a demon. Oh heavens, you should open your mighty eyes, or you’ll be a petty god!

Boom.

Suddenly, a thunderous crash sounded, scaring Song Ci into dropping her cup, her heart pounding like a drum.

The children were even more frightened, screaming and rushing to Song Ci, wailing.

Song Ci quickly held them, comforting them, with her thoughts already cursing—just a little complaint to the heavens, and why scare the kids?

Such limited scope!

”See what’s happening?”

Nanny Gong calmed herself and looked out the window. The sky had darkened, clouds rolling in, and couldn’t help but step outside, joyfully shouting at the entrance, ”Madam, the sky’s darkened, it looks like rain is coming!”

As soon as she finished speaking, a few raindrops fell from the sky. Then, pattering sounds followed as rain hit the roof tiles, echoing back.
