The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Everyone was impressed by Dan’s remarkable memory showcase, and couldn’t help but find him fascinating. Princess Anping embraced him repeatedly and spoke to him in childish tones, pondering to herself whether if her son married in a few years and had a daughter, she could arrange for him to be with this child.

Madam Wei was also interested but didn’t dare to compete with Princess Anping, only able to gaze longingly.

Song Ci secretly laughed, feeling proud inside; he was her child, raised by her.

The birthday celebration passed in a lively manner, and the guests went their separate ways home. Before leaving, Princess Anping had a conversation with Song Ci, naturally inquiring about the possibility of a severe drought and plague following the great flood.

”You have also passed through hardships; based on your experience, how likely is this?”

Song Ci replied: ”I truly cannot say; it depends on the heavens. Regardless, taking preventative measures is essential; we can’t wait until it actually happens to take action. Nowadays, the price of grain rises daily; it’s not just the flood-stricken south but even the drought-afflicted north that are struggling. To prevent chaos, this aspect must be controlled.”

Princess Anping nodded, understanding that no one is born wishing to be a bandit or rebel; many are forced into it when they can no longer sustain their lives, leading to civil unrest.

”Actually, after a disaster, there’s often an outbreak of disease; it just depends on whether it’s controlled timely and how widespread it is. If it’s promptly addressed upon discovery, it won’t spread extensively. So, I believe it’s wise to prepare more medicinal supplies in ordinary times.”

Princess Anping smiled: ”I remember the Prime Minister’s Mansion also ventured into this business this year.”

Song Ci nodded: ”It’s just started, and things are smooth. Rest assured, should Great Qing require donations of medicine or funds, our Prime Minister’s Mansion will not shy away from responsibility.”

She knew that Princess Anping was well trusted by Emperor Chu.

Princess Anping bowed graciously: ”Madam’s magnanimity exceeds expectations; the palace and Great Qing are deeply grateful.”

Song Ci waved her hand: ”We are all citizens of Great Qing; it’s our duty. Only with a nation can there be a family; if Great Qing prospers, so too will our Song Family, correct?”

Princess Anping exchanged a few more words with her before leaving the Song Family, but instead of returning to the Princess Mansion, she went straight to the palace. As for whom she met there and what was discussed, it was of no concern to Song Ci.

After a day filled with social engagements, Song Ci finally relaxed, removed her jewelry, cleansed herself, switched to fresh attire, took a short rest, and then called Lin Qing over for a talk.

”You also check Dan’s pulse daily and adjust his medicinal soups; what do you think of the child’s mind? Seeing him today with such a great memory, could it be considered early wisdom and intelligence?”

Lin Qing exclaimed: ”From what you’re saying, you actually think Dan’s Intelligence awakening might not be a good thing?”

”That’s not really my meaning; there’s a saying that extreme wisdom can lead to harm. I’m just worried about him...”

Lin Qing smiled gently: ”You needn’t worry; his intelligence is partly due to his nature and partly thanks to you. You’ve had people speak with him and teach him words and recognition regularly, influencing him slowly, so naturally, he is sensible. However, I hadn’t anticipated Dan would be so intelligent.”

Song Ci was relieved and sighed: ”Raising children is like this; worrying they won’t be smart enough, yet fearing they may be too clever and use their intelligence in the wrong places.”

Lin Qing sighed helplessly: ”In my opinion, you’re worrying too much. With Dan being so intelligent, you should be pleased with it. Since I’m here, let me check your pulse; give me your hand.”
