The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

A portrait painting was enough to exhaust Song Ci to the point where she couldn’t straighten her back, slumping on the large pillow, and exclaimed about her fatigue. She mused that being a model for a lady painting is not easy, especially when she’s an old lady herself.

The future times are indeed better; with technology so advanced, you can take a photo with a snap. If it doesn’t look good, you can enhance it with beauty filters to achieve all kinds of divine transformations and slimming effects.

”Doing this sort of thing once is enough for me. Don’t put me through this again. If a painting needs to be made again, just simulate based on this one,” Song Ci said as she watched Nanny Gong bring tea, but she was lazy to even stretch out her hand and directly leaned her head over, asking to be fed.

Nanny Gong sighed helplessly, like taking care of a child, placing a cloth underneath, and personally fed her.

”Nanny Gong always takes good care of me.” Song Ci squinted with an expression of enjoying the moment and smiled.

Nanny Gong gave her a scolding look: ”They say old children act like eternal children; you are now that old child.”

Song Ci pointed at her chest: ”There’s a young girl’s heart inside here, still very youthful.”

”Oh, commonly known as an old maiden, pretending to be young.” Nanny Gong jabbed without hesitation.

Song Ci feigned being aggrieved, acting angrily, and glared, ”You bold, old crafty servant, are you confronting your mistress?”

Nanny Gong played along, bending her knees to plead guilty: ”The old servant is guilty.”

Song Ci burst out laughing.

Leaning against the large pillow, with her eyes half-closed, perhaps truly fatigued, she soon emitted a soft snoring sound.

Nanny Gong withdrew her smile, waved away the little maid pounding legs for her, brought a blanket to cover her, and moved an embroidery stool to sit beside her couch and nod off.

...

At Prince Min Mansion, in the middle of the night, everyone was like facing a formidable enemy.

Lin Qing and Doctor Lu were each watching a person, witnessing Princess Consort Ji suffer from the poisonous insect’s torment. They calmly raised and dropped their needles, then had someone feed the Powder for Anesthesia, bustling about until the horizon grew pale before collecting the silver needles.

Meeting with Doctor Lu, Lin Qing saw the elderly man’s face unable to conceal his fatigue and said, ”Doctor Lu, considering your age, enduring this continuously is not advisable. Why not petition the Emperor for a younger Imperial Physician? If your body can’t hold up, I’m afraid the Imperial Hospital will be in chaos.”

Doctor Lu forced a bitter smile and said, ”I want to retire with honor, but alas...” He sighed and said, ”Although Doctor Lin comes from a woman’s background, your medical skills and acupuncture stand out. Willing to delve into research, among peers, you are more commendable than many men.”

Lin Qing felt somewhat embarrassed and humbly said, ”You overpraise me; I’m ashamed to accept. Compared with you and the Imperial Physicians at the Imperial Hospital, my medical skills are quite insignificant.”

Doctor Lu waved his hand, ”Whether a doctor has true talent and knowledge can be seen by their actions; you were mentored by the Lu Family, thus deserving of praise. The younger generation is formidable.”

Lin Qing smiled politely.

”I wonder if Doctor Lin has sent word to Master Buhui. Did Master Buhui reply on how to draw out the poisonous insect and what the antidote is?” Doctor Lu, furrowing his brows, said, ”It’s not that I’m anxious; rather, the Commandery Prince’s health, without a relieving medicine, I’m afraid he won’t endure. And the Dowager has previously suffered a stroke; if it recurs, then...”

Currently, the antidote for the poisonous insects in these two bodies is no longer supplied following the failure of Ning Cabinet Minister’s conspiracy; they can only endure the torment of poison.

I’m afraid one wrong move, and these two might perish from the poison, then my head might roll. Well, I’m already at such an age; losing a head is nothing, but I fear implicating the family.

Lin Qing shook her head: ”Master has not replied yet. If there is news, I will certainly dispatch someone to report to you.”

Doctor Lu nodded and said, ”We’ve managed to endure this month; I must enter the palace to report back. Doctor Lin, let’s part here.”

Lin Qing saluted courteously, watching him depart.
