My father sold me to the Mafia King

Chapter 112:

Robert’s Point of View

I grabbed my phone and dialed Daniel’s number.

I said in a decisive tone devoid of any hesitation:

”Yes, Daniel... have you completed your mission?”

His voice came through the receiver laden with victory:

”Yes, Mr. Robert. We have pulled all the information from the ’Digital Ops’ system; there is no longer a company by that name in the market.”

A cold smile formed on my lips and I said:

”Excellent work.”

I ended the call and immediately called Police Commissioner Sterling, informing him in brief words that his problem had been severed from the roots.

I lay back on my bed, feeling my body relax over the sheets, but my mind was elsewhere.

I raised my hand mechanically and felt my lips with the tips of my fingers. The taste of her lips was still clinging to them like a magic spell that refused to vanish.

I muttered in a choked voice:

”Ah, Julie... what have you done to me?”

Suddenly, my stomach muscles cramped as I realized the reality of what I was doing.

I bolted upright from the bed as if an electric spark had hit my body. I was acting insanely, like a teenager experiencing his first encounters... no, I am Robert Cross, and this weakness does not befit me.

I moved through the hallway with wide, determined strides and headed directly to Sarah’s room.

I opened the door without permission, finding her standing in her full elegance as usual. Her delicate green dress clung to the details of her body, highlighting her symmetrical physique. Sarah stood up as soon as she saw me, and I glimpsed the glint of welcome in her eyes.

I slammed the door behind me with force and approached her with rapid steps. I pulled her toward me and lowered my head to kiss her, trying to regain my lost balance.

However, as soon as our lips touched, I felt a coldness coursing through my veins. It was that monotonous, familiar, and ordinary feeling I felt with any other woman.

I stopped suddenly, my breath coming out troubled, and my mind screaming one question:

Why didn’t I feel that spark? Why was the matter with Julie so intensely different? Why did I feel with that little girl as if I were touching life for the first time, while now... I feel nothing?

I gripped the fabric of Sarah’s green dress and tore it with a massive force that made the sound of the fabric ripping drown out the silence of the room. I noticed for seconds her surprised looks that widened in bewilderment, but I did not stop.

I lowered my trousers with a violent movement and pushed her down to kneel before my dick.

My hand was wrapped around the locks of her hair with cruelty, pulling her head and forcing her to stuff it deep into her mouth until her breath was cut off and came out muffled.

I was desperately trying to erase that wretched feeling that inhabited me that weakness that had made me hate every atom of my being since that kiss.

After a while, I saw the plea gleaming in Sarah’s eyes, which were filled with tears, as if she were asking for mercy; I finally let go of her hair and shoved her body onto the bed with violence.

I thrust my dick into her pussy with all my weight, but the movement was devoid of any passion.

I wasn’t practicing sex; I was practicing a brutal revenge, and Sarah was the victim I chose to discharge this anger upon.

The strange thing was that I wasn’t feeling anything; no pleasure, no excitement, not even a fleeting thrill. My body was moving with a cold mechanism, as if what I was doing was merely a strenuous and boring physical exercise.

All my senses seemed as though they had suddenly malfunctioned, completely detached from reality.

It was as if that kiss from Julie were a real curse, pulling from me the ability to feel any other woman, leaving me a hollow body struggling with a ghost that refused to leave.

Julie’s Point of View

I pulled the tight sportswear over my exhausted body; every limb in me was screaming from tiredness, but the noise in my head was much louder.

I realized that lying on the bed would grant me nothing but the pursuit of ghosts, so I had to occupy this damn mind at any cost.

I headed to the hall where Max was waiting for me.

I began the exercises with violent and successive movements, and with every muscle strain or jump, I felt the prickle of needles tearing through my physical fibers.

Sweat poured from my forehead and slid over my burning eyelids, but I did not stop; I had to choose between burning my body with physical pain or letting my mind burn with the fires of memories.

After an hour and a half of exhaustion, I was running on the treadmill at an insane speed, my breath coming out as a muffled rattle.

Suddenly, the treadmill stopped with a sharp screech that caused me to stagger.

I looked at Max in bewilderment while panting with difficulty:

”What’s wrong with you, Max? Why did you do this?”

Max fixed his worried gaze on my pale face and asked me in a calm tone:

”What’s wrong with you, Julie? Is something the matter?”

I tried to steady my stance despite the trembling of my knees and said curtly:

”No... nothing is wrong.”

I extended my trembling hand and pressed the start button again.

The belt returned to its rotation, and I returned to my frenzied running; I was running as if I were trying to escape my shadow.

Running to flee from the touch of Robert’s lips, from Marcus’s face which exploded the truth about my mother in my face, and from the wreckage of my life which collapses over my head whenever I think I have touched the bottom.

I continued to push my body beyond its limits until I felt that my muscles were beginning to unravel.

I pressed the stop button suddenly, and the world swayed around me.

I raised my head to look for Max, but my vision blurred; Max began to move away and shrink as if vast distances had opened between us in a second, and his voice which was calling me turned into a faint echo resonating in a deep tunnel.

I tried to extend my hand toward him, to grasp anything that would prevent me from vanishing, for I felt a strange gravity pulling me forcefully downward, as if the ground had split open to swallow me.

I tried to scream, but my throat was dry, and my hands fell at my sides like dead branches before I could reach him.

-----------------

Max’s Point of View

My heart was beating with worry as I watched her; her face was severely flushed, and her eyelids were trembling violently as she tried desperately to keep them open.

She wasn’t the Julie I knew; she was a ghost fighting herself. When I saw her lost look that had lost focus, I realized the disaster before it happened.

I rushed toward her with maximum speed and spread my arms to catch her slender body at the moment she lost control completely and plummeted toward the ground.

She was entirely unconscious, her head tilted weakly on my chest.

I carried her in my arms, feeling how small her weight was and the high heat of her body from the effect of the effort.

I moved her quickly to my room and placed her on my bed quietly.

I sat beside her, watching her chest rising and falling with irregular breaths. Fifteen heavy minutes passed as if they were hours before her eyelids began to move slowly.

She finally opened her eyes and looked at me with clear disorientation. She tried to move her lips, and her voice came out heavy and raspy:

”Max...”

I held her hand gently and said in a reassuring tone:

”Yes, Julie... you lost consciousness. Relax for a bit.”

Julie tried to lean her body on her arms to rise, but her limbs betrayed her and trembled with weakness, so she whispered in a faint voice:

”I have to go.”

I steadied her with my hand gently on the bed and said to her in a reproachful tone:

”Julie, you are tired... and I think the reason for this fainting is that you haven’t eaten anything, isn’t it?”

She turned her face away and pursed her pale lips, saying:

”I had no appetite.”

I moved quickly toward the closet and took out a small juice bottle and a box of biscuits.

I returned to her and said in a calm voice:

”Come on, sit up.”

I supported her back with my hand and helped her to sit up, then handed her the juice.

I watched her as she sipped it slowly and chewed the pieces of biscuit quietly, then I continued warningly:

”You cannot exercise on an empty stomach; your body will collapse as it just did.”

She nodded her head weakly and whispered:

”Fine... I will make sure to eat in the coming times.”

A short silence prevailed as she gathered the remnants of her strength, then her limbs moved with a bit more stability and she said:

”Alright Max, I have to go now... I feel like I can stand.”

I stood up beside her and asked her worriedly:

”Are you sure? Should I accompany you to your room?”

She shook her head in denial as she headed toward the door:

”No need for that.”

She placed her hand on the handle and opened the door slowly, but she didn’t take a single step outside.

Suddenly, her entire body stiffened as if a thunderbolt had hit her, and she slammed the door with violence and extreme speed.

She turned toward me, her eyes wide with pupils filled with terror, and her chest rising and falling with rapid breaths as she whispered in horror:

”Robert is here!”
