Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Chapter 1004: Chapter 1008: Is It a Crime to Care About You?

”I don’t need your fake concern here; you can leave.” Beitang Yao’s knuckles were white, and his tone was very cold as he reached for the cigarette box, wanting to take out a cigar.

But Xia Qingqian grabbed it away, firmly saying to Beitang Yao, ”Young Master, don’t you know smoking can trigger asthma?” He had just adjusted his breathing, so why was he thinking about smoking again? Is this how he treats his body?

”Give it back!” Beitang Yao shouted angrily, suddenly bouncing up from his chair, grabbing Xia Qingqian’s wrist and lifting it up to his chest. His gaze remained as cold and grim as ever, but now it held a hint of sorrow.

What exactly was he worried about?

Xia Qingqian looked up at his tense, handsome face, frowning slightly. Before Beitang Yao could react, she used her other hand to seize the cigarette box and quickly hid it behind her back, shaking her head. ”I may not have the right or the qualification to ask you to stop smoking, but please think about it. The whole world is against smoking now; smoking not only pollutes the air and harms your health but also endangers the health of others!”

She straightened her back, a resolute and unyielding look rising in her wide eyes, directly meeting Beitang Yao’s dark and icy gaze. The two of them quietly stared at each other, and the air instantly solidified, as if time had stopped at that moment.

Their breaths intertwined, indistinguishable from each other, becoming chaotic all at once.

Xia Qingqian’s heart was pounding like a deer. In that brief gaze with Beitang Yao, like a love-struck young girl, her heart raced, making her lose her direction and become momentarily lost.

”Do you think I wanted to get asthma? smoking is my freedom, and it’s not your business!” His cold voice slipped out, wrapped in deep sadness and helplessness, lingering in her ears. It made her heart tremble slightly, reminding her of what Uncle Quan had said, that the Young Master had always been alone, feeling no warmth in the cold and empty house.

The Young Master in her heart had always been the epitome of cold and towering; how could he have a weak side? The current Young Master was bloodless, like a vampire in need of blood to restore energy at night.

If the Young Master were truly a vampire, she would willingly offer her neck to his mouth, letting him drink.

But the Young Master is not Dracula, and she is not Mina, there is no lost love of four hundred years between them.

”Young Master, if Madam... saw you like this, her heart would ache too.” Xia Qingqian spoke with difficulty, the words stuck in her throat, gently speaking out. She wasn’t afraid of how Beitang Yao might react violently, but she had to stop the Young Master from going down the wrong path.

Beitang Yao’s cold eyes narrowed, a faint anger spilling from them, ”Who told you these things?” He tightened his grip on her wrist sharply, ”In the future, mind your own business!”

”Young Master, is it a crime for others to care about you?” Xia Qingqian lowered her eyelids, the warm light casting two beautiful crescent-shaped shadows on her face. The hand behind her back lowered slightly and then offered the cigarette box in front of Beitang Yao.

Beitang Yao stared blankly at the cigarette box in Xia Qingqian’s hand. His eyes dimmed slightly, and after a long daze, he finally loosened his grip on her hand, snatched the cigarette box from her, and tossed it aside onto the desk.
