Cultivation: Starting from a Mortal Bone

Chapter 28: Chapter 26: Trust

After just a few attempts, Qin Yu realized that the purity of the medicinal liquid in the alchemy furnace had already reached the First Grade level.

Previously, it took him at least one or two hours to purify the medicinal liquid to the First Grade, but now, it only took a quarter of an hour!

The difference was plainly evident to Qin Yu!

This is the benefit of having a mentor, and the reason why he chose to join the Danxin Herb Hall.

Of course, safety was another factor.

Living in an alley outside the city isn’t that safe; no one knows when a fight could break out and affect him.

Qin Yu didn’t stop and continued to purify, diligently controlling the ’net’ in his hand, repeatedly skimming the impurities from the rolling medicinal liquid.

His movements gradually became smoother from their initial clumsiness and stiffness.

”Mother...”

Zhao Mengli looked up at Yin Qinghe, her eyes full of disbelief.

Back then, when she first started learning to control Spiritual Power, it took her nearly a year, and even then, Zhao Mengli became famous in Lin Xian City.

Yin Qinghe’s gaze stopped her from speaking further, focusing intently on Qin Yu’s every action.

If Yin Qinghe were to completely trust Qin Yu in just one day, it would be impossible.

Especially since Qin Yu chose this time to join Danxin Herb Hall, which made it even more suspicious.

However, Yin Qinghe didn’t reveal any of this, only dispatched someone to secretly investigate.

Everything about Qin Yu wasn’t a secret; everything had a trace. This morning, she had already received some information about Qin Yu.

He came to Lin Xian City at a very young age, a common choice for many mortals.

Qin Yu was fortunate, yet unfortunate at the same time. He had the Root Bone, but failed to meet the requirements of the Immortal Sect, so he stayed in Lin Xian City.

Later, he worked in the mines, and after becoming a Qi Refining Cultivator, he luckily awakened Spiritual Power, but it was quite ordinary, leading many herbal shops, including Danxin Herb Hall at the time, to turn him away.

Yin Qinghe was indeed puzzled; theoretically, such a mistake shouldn’t have happened. What went wrong?

Could it have been favoritism at the time?

After that, Qin Yu lived in Spring Rain Lane until five months ago, when his usual cautious self chose to take in Lin Qianqian and her sister.

This information was verified through multiple sources, not only by asking some cultivators living in Spring Rain Lane but also by checking with the ’Evergreen’ general goods store... and every place Qin Yu had been.

This proved that Qin Yu’s background was not problematic, leading Yin Qinghe to decide to personally teach and instill knowledge in him!

Now, she was carefully observing Qin Yu’s every move, under her Spiritual Power’s perception, seeing many minute details clearly.

Qin Yu indeed had no methods or techniques!

This matched perfectly with the information, as he simply had no exposure.

The only perplexing thing for Yin Qinghe was when exactly Qin Yu advanced to the Initial Stage?

Could it be that due to a lack of purification experience, he had always been making ordinary medicinal liquid?

That possibility was not out of the question.

Surely he couldn’t have advanced from a complete novice to a Middle Tier in just five months?!

That would be absurd, with not the slightest possibility.

In any case, she had found a treasure!

Watching Qin Yu fully immersed, Yin Qinghe became more and more satisfied.

...

Half an hour passed.

Qin Yu noticed that the medicinal liquid in the alchemy furnace had reached his previous limits of purification.

Yet now, he could still extract impurities.

When he wanted to continue, a sharp pain hit his brow, forcing him to stop.

His Spiritual Power had been exhausted.

However, his energy consumption had been halved compared to before!

This was just the beginning.

Because when controlling his Spiritual Power, he couldn’t reach Yin Qinghe’s level.

The net woven by his mentor was like lines of thread, delicate and intricate.

While Qin Yu’s net was coarse and large, about half a finger thick. Only this way could he keep the net from collapsing.

This meant that in terms of energy consumption or purification efficiency, he couldn’t compare with his mentor, Yin Qinghe.

Qin Yu furrowed his brows.

Sure enough, simply mimicking the form only allowed for a rough approximation. If not for his mentor’s constant tips, the net would’ve likely broken by now.

He needed to understand its ’essence’!

It was only when Qin Yu was recovering his Spiritual Power that Yin Qinghe withdrew her attention.

”Mother, the junior brother is amazing,” Zhao Mengli praised without reservation.

Yin Qinghe gently nodded in agreement.

”As long as our junior brother can proficiently master the skills of using Spiritual Power, he will surely be able to refine Second Grade medicinal liquid...”

Given the understanding ability Qin Yu displayed, both believed it wouldn’t take much time.

Next, Yin Qinghe began to impart some tips on using Spiritual Power, continually demonstrating and allowing Qin Yu to try them himself.

This benefited Qin Yu greatly, as he knew these tips were the result of generations of Alchemists’ continuous improvement and research, and without guidance, he might never discover them even if he spent his whole life trying.

This is the importance of inheritance!

If the inheritance were broken, everything would have to start from scratch.

At this moment, Xu An’s voice came from outside.

”Mistress, Captain Li from the City Lord’s Mansion has arrived, and Cheng Yi... is also in the front hall, requesting to see you.”

Upon hearing this, Yin Qinghe’s brows immediately furrowed, a tinge of worry crossing her eyes.

The suddenly serious atmosphere startled Qin Yu.

Although he didn’t know what was going on, for the shopkeeper to come to the Alchemy Room and alarm his mentor, the matter and the visitors must not be simple.

”I understand!”

Yin Qinghe’s delicate face was taut and solemn as she rose to leave, instructing them: ”You two just focus on refining medicine here.”

Just as she was about to open the door, Yin Qinghe glanced at Qin Yu, considering his unproblematic identity, she gritted her teeth and made a decision: ”Li’Er, if your junior brother is confused, guide him a bit more.”

”If you’re really unsure, go take your father’s notes.”

With that, Yin Qinghe left the room.

Qin Yu watched his mentor’s departing silhouette, bewildered.

He initially thought he would be tested for a period of time.

No one would easily impart their teachings to others!

The norm was to teach little by little, but this unreserved manner left even Qin Yu in disbelief.

Could it be that... Danxin Herb Hall was facing some grave problem?!

He shook his head.

With an Alchemist in charge, how could anything go wrong?

After his mentor left, the Alchemy Room was left with only Qin Yu and Zhao Mengli.

There wasn’t any romantic atmosphere, as it was only their second meeting, but Zhao Mengli was filled with curiosity when she looked at Qin Yu.

This person has talent even greater than her own.
