Cultivation: Starting from a Mortal Bone

Chapter 14: Chapter 12: Middle Tier Initiate

Qin Yu had no idea what was happening outside the house.

Feeling the two girls trembling with fear, Qin Yu clenched his fists tightly, frustrated and helpless!

The Lin Qianqian sisters had already come to rely on him as their husband and family.

But when faced with a situation like this, all he could do was pray that the madman wouldn’t kill his way over here...

”When will I finally be able to shelter my family from danger and hardship!”

Qin Yu gritted his teeth in silence. He no longer fantasized about dominating the world or rising above all others. He just wanted to protect his own little home, living peacefully with his beloved wife and family.

Yet, even to support such a small family, he needed strength!

Otherwise, at the slightest sign of trouble, his whole family would be trapped in anxiety and fear.

But wanting to raise his realm in such a short time was clearly unrealistic—even the prodigies in the Immortal Sect didn’t achieve breakthroughs overnight.

Time!

What he needed was time to upgrade his root bone, to elevate his realm!

Fortunately, at this moment, Qin Yu heard an angry shout from above.

”Daring to injure the Law Enforcement Team! And even destroying our Immortal Sect’s buildings... Die!”

The roar was imposing and majestic, spiritual power thick and powerful, piercing straight down through the roof!

Qin Yu raised his head in shock. The voice came from high above!

And someone able to stand loftily midair with such presence could only be... a Foundation Establishment Realm Great Cultivator!

Boom!

With a loud explosion, the situation outside finally settled down.

”Those who dare destroy buildings... shall be executed!”

The Great Cultivator left only that message and vanished into the sky.

Once he left, that oppressive aura slowly dissipated, letting the cultivators in this area finally breathe again.

”It’s over, it’s over...”

Qin Yu comforted the two women for quite a while before cautiously approaching the window, opening a small gap and letting his spiritual power spread out to sense the outside situation.

The incident didn’t happen in Spring Rain Lane, but the fighting just now affected several houses at the end of the lane; corpses of cultivators were being carried out.

All died from being directly shocked to death.

Clearly, the cultivators fighting had rather high realms—just nobody knew what drove them to such reckless violence.

Qin Yu watched for a bit, then closed the window.

His expression remained heavy.

Although this time his area wasn’t affected, what about next time?

Outside the city was never as safe as inside.

The spiritual qi was denser inside the city, and with the spirit gathering array, Law Enforcement Teams patrolled day and night. Going out didn’t require as much caution as outside the city.

But wanting to live in the city was not easy.

Don’t even mention the exorbitant annual rent of a hundred lower grade spirit stones per person. If you were just a loose cultivator, you’d also need someone with status to recommend you.

No matter which requirement, Qin Yu couldn’t meet any at present.

He had to be practical and start from the basics!

In the following days, Qin Yu rarely went out. Usually, he spent two days refining medicinal liquid, two days cultivating, and he’d occasionally guide Lin Qianqian and Lin Shuishui as well.

You have to balance work and rest.

In the blink of an eye, a month passed.

During this month, it was worth mentioning that when Lin Qianqian’s Romantic Point reached thirty, the added Flame Point each time became three, just as Qin Yu had predicted.

[Flame Point: 107]

[Lin Qianqian Romantic Point: 35 (Affection Begins)]

[Cultivation: Qi Refining Second Layer (19%)]

[Root Bone: Middle Grade Mortal Bone (Flame Point 107/100) – can breakthrough]

[Spiritual Power: Initial Stage Beginner (Flame Point 107/100) – can breakthrough]

He could upgrade again!

Qin Yu returned to the small compartment, focusing his attention on the flame.

It stood alone in total darkness, the only flicker of light in the pitch black, still looking ordinary, but it no longer wavered precariously like before, as if it could extinguish at any moment.

Like a lamp that had received a bit more fuel, the flame was weak but seemed much steadier.

Flame Point...

He hadn’t slacked off—really. He had to refine medicinal liquid, and besides, Lin Qianqian was still just a mortal.

”Breakthrough!”

Qin Yu chose to upgrade his spiritual power again.

As Flame Points were deducted, the flame stirred with no wind; Qin Yu felt that this time even more sparks scattered from the fire, though he wasn’t sure if it was just an illusion.

Then, an intense heat welled up between his brows, like a bonfire burning within.

Even with the experience from last time, despite being prepared, Qin Yu still couldn’t help but grimace, his face twisting with pain as time passed.

Sweat poured off him like rain, soaking his clothes in no time.

Qin Yu’s whole body began to tremble, as if enduring some excruciating torment. He wanted to pound the floor in frustration, but was too weak to make a fist, only able to curl up and roll on the ground.

Outside, the two Lin sisters heard the commotion, but Qin Yu had warned them beforehand. Listening to the sounds from the compartment, they could only anxiously worry outside.

Lin Shuishui’s small hands gripped the edge of her sister’s clothes tightly. Her clear eyes brimmed with anxiety and unease. ”Sister, brother-in-law won’t be in trouble, will he?”

Lin Qianqian turned around. Though she too felt turmoil in her heart, she nonetheless tried to look composed for her sister, ”Don’t worry, nothing will happen...”

”Nothing will happen.”

She repeated softly, this time seeming to speak to herself.

Thankfully, the sounds inside didn’t last long...

”Qianqian, I’m fine!”

Qin Yu’s voice came from inside the compartment, carrying a kind of power that instantly swept away all the gloom and worry in Lin Qianqian’s heart.

In that moment, she had been afraid—afraid of losing her support once again.

Qin Yu’s voice brought Lin Qianqian a feeling of unprecedented reassurance. No matter how chaotic the world outside, as long as Qin Yu was by her side, he was her strongest harbor.

She realized she couldn’t live without Qin Yu.

Nor could she ever leave him!

[Lin Qianqian Romantic Point: 40 (Never Leave)]

The increase in his little wife’s Romantic Point was an unexpected delight for Qin Yu.

[Spiritual Power: Middle Tier Beginner (Flame Point 7/1000)]

Glancing at the flame’s information, Qin Yu’s joy plummeted.

The next upgrade would require a thousand Flame Points—wouldn’t that take almost a whole year?!

That’s way too long.

Of course, most of it was because he didn’t really understand the intricacies of spiritual power—he hadn’t had the opportunity yet.

For example, even in Lin Xian City, only two of the alchemists inside had achieved Middle Tier Beginner in spiritual power.

And both those people were over a hundred years old!

Qin Yu was only thirty.

He quickly collected himself, beginning to sense the change in his spiritual power’s intensity.

For example, last time, it was very hard to use spiritual power to move a piece of rag. Now, he could send the rag swirling all around inside the compartment.

Because his spiritual power was no longer as fragile as a wild grass—pull it and it snapped. Though it was still as thin as a strand of hair, it now had the resilience of a strand of hair.

”Let’s try refining the medicinal liquid!”
