Cultivation: Starting from a Mortal Bone

Chapter 7: Chapter 5: Changes in Alchemy

Next, Qin Yu began to carefully test the strength of his Spiritual Power, and his emotions gradually calmed down.

Initial Stage.

Although his Spiritual Power had transformed from formless to tangible, its strength was not very high. If one were to describe it...

It was like a piece of grass.

Like a strand of hair.

This was also the reason why the piece of cloth, no bigger than a palm, fell after being supported only halfway.

Because the strength of his Spiritual Power was very low.

However, Qin Yu was not at all discouraged, because having officially entered the realm of Spiritual Power meant he could refine medicine liquid!

If he could refine medicine liquid, he could truly be considered an Alchemy Apprentice.

Even as an apprentice, in the eyes of the cultivators in the Outer City, he was an extraordinary existence.

Even in the medicine shops at the Market, his status would be very high!

After all, throughout Lin Xian City, the true Alchemists could be counted on one hand.

Each one was a person of identity and status within the city.

”Shall I try?”

Once this thought took root, Qin Yu was somewhat eager to give it a try.

However, he did not rush to refine the medicine liquid directly, but instead closed his eyes to recover the Spiritual Power he had consumed earlier.

...

Alchemy is specifically divided into three steps.

Step one: Refine the herbs into medicinal liquid.

Step two: Purify the medicinal liquid.

Step three: Condense the purified medicinal liquid into a pill.

What Qin Yu had been doing all along was the first step, refining herbs into medicinal liquid, which is the simplest of the three steps, although it requires certain skills, the difficulty is not actually very high.

Otherwise, Qin Yu would not have been able to successfully refine medicinal liquid just by exploring on his own.

Once his Spiritual Power was restored, he focused his attention on the alchemy furnace in front of him.

Although the cracks were very fine, if there were another one or two explosions, it might become completely unusable.

This was inevitable, without anyone to teach him, Qin Yu could only continue to make mistakes, and explosions were naturally unavoidable.

Then, Qin Yu took out a set of healing herbs.

Healing Medicine Liquid is one of the most basic liquids and also one that cultivators use the most, essentially a must-have.

After carefully checking and confirming the herb quantities were correct, he did not just throw all the herbs into the furnace at once.

He was at the Qi Refining Second Layer, and his Spiritual Power and strength were both limited; it was simply impossible to refine a set of herbs into medicinal liquid all at once.

He first selected one kind of herb and placed it into the alchemy furnace.

”Bang!”

Spiritual Qi transformed into fire, burning beneath the alchemy furnace.

In alchemy, even in pill refining, the most important thing is... Fire Control.

If the temperature is not controlled properly, it can easily lead to failure!

As soon as the fire ignited, Qin Yu felt a huge improvement in his control over the Spirit Fire.

In the past, he could only try his best to keep the flame from getting out of control, but now, he seemed to be able to control the size of the fire.

Under the control of his Spiritual Power, it was like an invisible big hand compressing the rising flames.

This is actually very important!

Although the size of the flame is determined by the output level of Spiritual Qi, if the temperature does not reach a required level, the herbs cannot be refined.

Otherwise, there would be no need to use Spirit Fire for alchemy.

And in order to reach the necessary temperature, the output of Spiritual Qi must be increased, naturally making the flame easier to get out of control.

If the tongue of fire slipped into the alchemy furnace, it would lead to failure, or even an explosion.

At this moment, the fire seemed very fierce, but it was all below the waist of the alchemy furnace, safely within the absolute limit!

Qin Yu quickly suppressed his inner joy and continued to methodically carry out alchemy.

In his perception, the herbs in the alchemy furnace began to slowly refine under the high temperature of the Spirit Fire.

”Hmm?”

He discovered again that without the Spirit Fire running wildly as before, the temperature was concentrated in the lower half of the alchemy furnace, thus speeding up the refinement process of the herbs.

In about an hour, the herbs in the alchemy furnace had all been refined into medicine liquid!

”As expected!”

Previously, these herbs would take at least an hour and a half to refine, but now, half an hour was saved.

The same steps, saving time also meant saving Spiritual Power and energy!

This situation filled Qin Yu with joy.

In the past, it would take him a little over four days to fully refine a set of healing herbs.

This isn’t to say the process itself took that long, but during the refining process, he would spend a lot of time recovering his depleted Spiritual Power and energy.

Now, at this speed, he could produce a batch of medicinal liquid in about three days!

Next, Qin Yu decided to take a break to recover.

Though he had saved quite a bit of Spiritual Qi and energy compared to before, clearly his current state was not adequate for refining the next type of herb.

He closed his eyes, raising his five hearts towards the sky, and started practicing the Sensing Technique.

This is the most basic cultivation technique in the Cultivation Realm, but it’s also what Qin Yu earned after a year of mining.

Next, in his perception, spots of various sizes appeared within the world.

These spots were the Spiritual Qi between heaven and earth.

However, around Qin Yu, these spots were quite sparse, like scattered snowflakes drifting in the surrounding space.

This is the Outer City.

While there is some Spiritual Qi here, it’s not abundant!

As Qin Yu operated the Sensing Technique, the Spiritual Qi within a meter radius seemed to be drawn by a force, gently falling towards him.

Yes, falling, not gathering, and the influenced range was only a meter.

There are two reasons for this.

Firstly, because Qin Yu is of Lower Grade Mortal Bone, his affinity with Spiritual Qi is too low.

Secondly, naturally, because the cultivation technique is too ordinary.

But Qin Yu was long accustomed to this.

After absorbing the Spiritual Qi, the first thing to do was to refine it.

The Spiritual Qi between heaven and earth is as sharp as a knife and sword, and if it is directly channeled into the Meridians, it can cause serious consequences.

The speed of refining Spiritual Qi depends on the cultivation technique!

So, technique is an important link in the four factors of a cultivator.

In Qin Yu’s perception, the Dantian is like a pond, and the Meridians are channels.

Bit by bit, the refined Spiritual Qi flows along the Meridians, converging in the Dantian pond, slowly filling it up.

After about an hour, Qin Yu’s Spiritual Power and energy were fully restored, and he took out another type of herb to place into the alchemy furnace.

For the next three days, Qin Yu did not leave his small alcove.

Because he had already told Lin Qianqian that he needed to refine some medicine liquid, neither of the sisters disturbed him.

”In total, it took thirty-five hours!”

Looking at the completed medicinal liquid inside the alchemy furnace, although Qin Yu’s face showed considerable fatigue, his eyes shone with delight.

In this way, even if he couldn’t purify the medicinal liquid yet, he could earn a few more Spirit Stones each year due to the reduced time consumption.

All this was brought about thanks to reaching the Initial Stage of Spiritual Power.

”Let’s try purification!”

If he could really purify, then he wouldn’t have to live such a tight existence in the future.
