One-Eyed Monster

His Majesty, Prince Charles’ words left Manfred speechless.

The soil in the shadows...

It seems that such words are quite fitting to describe His Majesty, Prince Charles.

Throughout the Kayne Empire, His Majesty, Prince Charles is the one who supports the entire Empire from behind the scenes.

The external facade is merely a mask hiding the true self, and this mask is perfected to its utmost.

He is the warmth behind the sunshine, always removing stumbling blocks on the path for King Kayne, controlling the Dark Cabinet invisibly, transforming it from a notorious assassin organization into a mysterious Hunter Organization.

This organization eradicated various threats lurking within the Kayne Empire.

”Burstan is a good place, where people sensitively realize the changes occurring in their realm, and their reactions make me proud.”

”This is thanks to Your Majesty. Your series of operations behind the scenes have made this chaotic city orderly, and freedom here truly embodies the characteristic of freedom.” Manfred’s eyes teared up, for Prince Charles brought such great changes to the city, yet no one knows it’s His Majesty’s credit!

”This is a unique trait of this city; I merely brought it to light.”

”Your Majesty!”

”I know you are reluctant to part with this place, but even the people here know they should do something for the country. How could I, as a prince, remain indifferent?” Prince Charles always spoke lightly, as if he did not care about the possible outcomes of his actions.

”Your Majesty, what you intend to do will be considered rebellious by ignorant people!” Manfred finally voiced his long-held thoughts.

”Ignorant people will remain ignorant. What I seek is to awaken those who are still asleep. Those letters, those who understand them will support me, and those who don’t, let them be!”

”Your Majesty!”

”Manfred, you forget my other identity; I am also the Cabinet Elder of the Dark Cabinet.”

”Your Majesty, this identity is even more dangerous; there are too many on the continent who resent it! If you expose this identity, it will attract unnecessary enemies!” Manfred expressed his concern, feeling that the Cabinet Elder identity was like a time bomb.

”Oh, Manfred, you misunderstood me. I am not suggesting I reveal this identity.”

”Hmm?” The elder was somewhat puzzled by what exactly Prince Charles meant.

”My point is that I have kept my identity as Cabinet Elder hidden so well, I am capable of concealing this action as well.”

”Your Majesty, what are your intentions exactly?”

”The Alchemy Workshop is the open enemy; I will have the Dark Cabinet launch an offensive against it, and I will act only as Cabinet Elder. As for the prince identity, it remains my disguise in Xinbal!”

”But, but you have already sent those letters!” Manfred was greatly shocked, the contents of the letters were all the same, Charles had already sent them all out, now Prince Charles seems to want them back!

”If the letters have been sent, they’ve been sent, what’s there to be surprised about!” Charles looked at Manfred in surprise, having removed his black cloth.

”Those letters...”

”Those letters merely mention that I will be visiting Xinbal for leisure; did I mention anything else?” His Majesty, Prince Charles looked at Manfred calmly.

”This...” At that moment, Manfred seemed to understand something, as if Prince Charles intended to maintain the facade of obliviousness indefinitely!

Upon reflection, it appears Prince Charles is quite suited for playing the fool.

His Majesty, Prince Charles has only shown his serious side before one person, and that is Rostov.

Manfred still hadn’t understood why, on the steam car, His Majesty, Prince Charles revealed his plans to Rostov. However, judging by current events, Rostov indeed is someone trustworthy.

”Manfred, tomorrow will be a very busy day!” His Majesty, Prince Charles told Manfred.

The atmosphere in the Hall of Freedom descended into tranquility, and Manfred fell into contemplation, knowing that His Majesty, Prince Charles never acts without preparation.

Within the Empire, His Majesty, Prince Charles is a highly learned man.

Being born into the Kayne Royal Family as a housekeeper, he has a certain understanding of the various members of the royal family.

The Kayne Royal Family are adventurers, but they are also proficient in other professions. The reason they became adventurers is due to ancestral teachings that each member of the Kayne People must continuously explore the unknown.

In terms of exploration, Charles has performed excellently, and his prowess places him among the top in the adventurer ranks across the continent.

However, members of the Kayne Royal Family all share a characteristic: they must possess deep understanding of several other major professions.

His Majesty, Prince Charles chose Hunter. He could have chosen Politician, given his particularly unique talent.

It could be said that the talents of the Kayne Royal Family are chosen by destiny. Princess Juliette chose Wizard, King Harry chose Fighter at the time...

Everyone achieved significant accomplishments in their chosen fields, but it is precisely these choices that granted them more options.

Prince Charles, having chosen Hunter, chose the shadows. He relinquished the chance to inherit the throne to his siblings, saying he felt better suited to remain in the shadows.

Now, those in the shadows are finally coming to light.

”This identity has concealed itself for so long, through so many generations, the soil in the shadows is finally about to see sunlight; Your Majesty, I feel greatly relieved!” Manfred seemed to have reached an understanding.

”Even if it weren’t this soil in the shadows, I would still need to act.” Charles looked toward the distance, where stars twinkled silently in the darkness.

”Blood is thicker than water, I understand, Your Majesty!” Manfred said softly.

Indeed, Charles must be concerned for his brother, especially considering the drastic change in his brother’s demeanor.

”Look at this!” Charles offered a purple petal.

”This is…” Manfred was astonished upon receiving the petal.

This purple petal is from the Palace’s Roland Flower. Only the palace possesses such petals, and only members of the royal family can keep them alive, as they require the royal family’s special Spirit Power.

”King Harry gave me this Roland Flower petal.” Charles said quietly.

”Could it be that our worries are real?” Manfred thought of some frightening possibilities.

”Yes, he remains clear-headed, but he can only send me this petal.”

”The enemy... seems quite formidable!”

”Regardless, I will rescue my brother. This petal is our agreement; when we were very young, whenever he felt aggrieved, he would hand me this petal, and upon receiving it, I would clear the obstacles he could not handle. This time is no different!”
