One-Eyed Monster

The Mail Bird chirped as it flew over, and Igor put away the questions he had initially wanted to ask Old Cole, for now he had new matters to attend to.

He intended to inform Perkins of what had transpired here, deciding to pass on all the events after reading Perkins’ message.

Of course, he would relay these messages together with Kadi to the seniors at Guru Mountain.

As for the Bistal side, he felt the Kangen Family would handle the transmissions...

”Where is this message from?” Kadi, hearing the Mail Bird’s sound too, immediately asked.

”Perkins,” Igor replied succinctly. He was eager to see the information and didn’t pay much attention to how he should answer Kadi.

Naturally, Kadi wasn’t concerned about Igor’s lukewarm response.

Old Cole was considerate, clearing his throat, ”Do I need to step aside for a moment?”

”No need; we’re all on the same side now, and information should be shared. Since you trust us, we should trust you too!”

”Alright!” Old Cole was gratified by Igor’s decision. He hadn’t expected Igor to decide this way; he had originally thought they would be cautious, but Igor showed complete trust. This indeed made him feel very comforted.

”Well then, let’s see what Perkins has to say!” Igor casually opened the message sent by the Mail Bird.

An exciting and novel feeling continually bubbled in Igor’s chest, a sensation brought by the Mail Bird. Every arrival and departure of the Mail Bird brought him immense pleasure, and the novelty never faded. Igor didn’t understand why, but he never refused such a feeling.

After a moment of reading, Igor’s initially relaxed brows furrowed, a change that made Kadi feel uneasy, as he hadn’t seen Igor confused like this before.

It seemed the letter contained unusual information.

”What’s written on the letter?” Kadi asked, concerned about Igor’s expression and eager to find out what was happening.

”The letter...” Igor hesitated.

”What is it?” Kadi couldn’t understand Igor’s hesitation and, no longer caring about his willingness, snatched the letter from Igor’s grasp and began reading.

”Oh, it says about events happening outside, isn’t this just the thing we wanted to know!” Kadi wasn’t surprised by the letter, not showing the same expression as Igor.

The contrasting reactions of the two young men puzzled Old Cole, wondering what the letter’s contents were to cause such different responses.

”Can I take a look at the letter?” Old Cole asked.

”Igor?” Kadi inquired, seeing Igor seemingly dazed.

”Uh, of course you can. I mentioned information sharing between us, didn’t I!” Igor came back to his senses, feeling the initial shock from the letter had passed.

Old Cole took the letter and read it...

Soon, Old Cole furrowed his brows too.

”What’s the matter with all your expressions?” Kadi was puzzled by their furrowed brows, being straightforward, he asked directly.

”Uh, it’s nothing; I’m just dissatisfied with my state.” Igor spoke honestly, leaving no secrets from Kadi now, treating Kadi like a brother.

”I’m just shocked by some things!” Old Cole stated.

”Oh, could it be something your Kangen Family doesn’t cover?” Igor was curious. He thought a prominent family like Kangen would have a comprehensive intelligence system, being fully informed about external happenings. Otherwise, the family couldn’t have stood strong on this continent for so long.

”Often, we only cover aspects we’re concerned with, and even so, many things remain uncovered!” Old Cole replied without rejecting Igor’s question.

”So, even the Kangen Family doesn’t know everything,” Igor still found it hard to believe.

”No one can cover everything. Among the information we possess, there are pieces even Luona doesn’t hold.” Old Cole continued, hoping to assist Igor.

”You two stop riddling each other. We talked about Information Sharing, so let’s organize what we know! Then we hurry to inform those who still need to know!” Kadi remarked.

Igor felt this was Kadi’s most sensible remark during their adventures.

Old Cole also agreed, ”Let’s quickly integrate the information we know, so the subsequent actions from all sides will be more targeted!”

”Then let’s not waste time...” Igor quickly said.

”Hold on, Igor!” Kadi suddenly interrupted Igor, seemingly recalling some critical matter he had to ask at this moment.

”Hmm?” Igor was puzzled by Kadi’s action, looking at him in surprise, awaiting Kadi’s direction.

”Can you tell me why you were dissatisfied with yourself earlier?” Kadi asked seriously, but Igor found the question rather trivial.

Yet, since Kadi asked, he must answer. Previously, he had experienced Kadi’s doggedness, unwilling to go through it again.

”It’s because I overlooked many things; so much happened outside, yet I was indifferent, which is awful.”

”Why feel awful? We didn’t originally know these things.” Kadi’s reasoning seemed valid, leaving Igor momentarily stunned.

Old Cole shrugged, understanding Igor’s sentiments and knowing Igor spoke for a reason.

”Indeed, you’re right. We only just learned about these matters, but as participants, we shouldn’t have known so late.” Igor explained patiently.

”Why?” Kadi was intrigued, determined to delve into Igor’s explanation.

Igor now had the patience for it.

”As participants, we shouldn’t only focus on nearby events; we need to oversee everything around us...”

The long narrative gradually allowed Kadi to understand Igor’s mindset.

Kadi increasingly felt many things they didn’t know shouldn’t be the case.

After all, they were in Xinbal, a place where gaining information was supposedly straightforward, yet failing to notice many significant events was indeed inappropriate!
