One-Eyed Monster

King Kayne’s Devouring Power felt like an ant bite in front of the Soul Devourer.

This bite was merely a minor annoyance, unable to have much effect. The Soul Devourer felt as if he was about to float, having found an excellent substitute—this King Kayne could become his backup.

The current situation wasn’t favorable for the entire Soul Devourer tribe; despite their persistent mystery, the fracturing of the Border Realm dealt them a severe blow.

The Border Realm used to be a crucial transitional location for them, providing new strength continually. However, with its fracture, the reserve strength couldn’t keep up. They had to find new power through other means.

Right now, a suitable backup was before them, making the Soul Devourer quite pleased.

Unfortunately, King Kayne wasn’t talkative and didn’t like to communicate with them.

Without communication, understanding each other was impossible, thwarting recruitment efforts. There was only one way to make King Kayne one of them.

That was to conquer him with power, to make him willingly kneel before them.

The Soul Devourer felt a surge of excitement, strengthening his energy. But suddenly, he found the energy disobedient.

What was going on?

How could such a situation arise? What had happened?

The devouring by King Kayne should have no effect! That ant-like bite couldn’t pose any threat, right?

The Soul Devourer Master felt shocked; the energy was beyond his control, a severe situation that threatened to erase him completely...

Something must be wrong; the Soul Devourer Master searched again, trying to pinpoint the anomaly.

Yet, he found nothing.

But he sensed the opponent growing stronger, attacking more effortlessly!

”Did you do something so I couldn’t perceive the energy’s flow!”

King Kayne remained silent, pondering.

”You still won’t say a word?” The Soul Devourer felt a bit weary, yet he hadn’t matched words with the king before him.

Was this king truly mute, or had he failed to form a complete Spirit Entity, thus unable to communicate?

Though King Kayne remained silent, his aura completely suppressed the Soul Devourer.

This aura almost suffocated the Soul Devourer.

”Why is it this way? Why am I feeling my energy disappearing! Have you really begun to counter-devour me?”

Still no responses, but the Spirit Power on him gradually dissipated without sign.

The process was so swift, he couldn’t fathom how the energy vanished.

The Soul Devourer sensed no attack; all he felt was the ant bite...

Ant bite!

Could the opponent be slowly consuming him in such a manner!

If so, this was truly terrifying!

”Is this to watch myself being devoured?” At this moment, the Soul Devourer experienced unparalleled fear, recalling his earliest days when he was abandoned and ridiculed, embarking on the path of devouring, gradually becoming strong.

But now, this strength was disappearing in such a subtle manner, incredibly unbelievable!

”I cannot perceive the Energy Fluctuations, showing I cannot control the energy anymore.” Failure was hard to swallow for the Soul Devourer, but the reality lay before him, forcing acceptance.

”How did you do this? As I begin to vanish, I desperately want to understand my failure!”

”As a king, can’t you say a single word?”

”How did you achieve this!”

The Soul Devourer felt a restlessness; even amid failure, this feeling was unpleasant.

He felt belittled, yet the power to cause his disappearance justified such belittlement.

He felt his fading process, longing to solve how he failed.

This desire was reasonable, still unmet by the opponent.

The opponent was Kayne’s royalty, a king, supremely arrogant indeed.

Yet, he continued to persist.

”Even if I die, at least let me die understanding.”

But the king provided no response.

”Ha, haha, I thought people would fear us, for we are mysteries to them, entities unknown, met with fear and incomprehension.”

”I assumed your first question would be: who are you, where do you come from.”

”But you didn’t; remained mute like a dummie.”

”Haha, musing over King Kayne as mute, amusing…”

”Mute…”

The Soul Devourer sensed his energy control dwindling, expressing ideas becoming painful.

Not only painful, also depleting his limited energy.

He was surely being pressured to disappear.

His entire being fading from this world.

Upon arrival, without a name, solely known as the Soul Devourer, a king, leaving without knowing himself, nor leaving a trace.

He vanished, leaving nothing behind.

No trace left, as though he never came to this world.

Throughout it all, the Soul Devourer never understood his failure, succumbing beneath Kayne’s monarchy.

No questions asked, King Kayne reclaimed his body.

This counter-devouring drained considerable energy, leaving His Majesty limp.

A war without gunpowder, yet profoundly intense; no one knew what unfolded.

King Kayne slowly supported his body.

He muttered into the air, ”Your failure stems from too many words…”

Said to the departed Soul Devourer, who surely couldn’t hear now, achieving the desired effect.

In battle, he wouldn’t converse with foes.

For him, enemies remain enemies, no need to ask their origin or identity, their defeat reveals all.

This is a monarch’s posture, onwards only, never retreating, crushing foes as obstacles!
