Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1195: Chapter 657: Ruins Opened

The day has dawned...

One person gazes at the slowly emerging halo over the sea, as calm as a baby just waking up.

And when he turns his eyes to the dock, it has started to get lively, with many fishermen already pulling in their catches, clearly showing no unexpected occurrences.

Even though he harbors hope, until the sun rises, there is essentially no movement beyond some small fishing boats.

Now he can no longer deceive himself and hurries to the previous meeting place.

Like him, some others have already arrived, and everyone doesn’t look too happy, evidently displeased with the matter.

In reality, even the organizers are surprised why, at the agreed time, the pirates have not appeared,

realizing that hiding is not an option, they can only provide a simple explanation.

”Everyone should know the situation at sea; strong winds and waves are common, and a delay of one or two days due to an unexpected incident is not very strange. We have already arranged for people to contact them.”

”But we can’t wait for them for a few days, can we?”

”What if they never come?”

”What if they betray us?”

The crowd is not satisfied, you have big enterprises and can afford a day or two delay, but we cannot.

At the same time, they are even more afraid of the situation getting leaked, as their unusual behavior last night is quite suspicious.

If Hamlet becomes aware, few of them can withstand the retaliation, and if things get messed up, returning to Totnes won’t be pleasant either.

It’s not wrong to say they are a pile of loose sand, full of promises when there are benefits, now they start to panic over a minor issue.

”What are you afraid of, we haven’t done anything, can he do anything to us without any reason?”

”If you’re scared, you can return to Totnes now, and no one will stop you.”

”...”

Originally, with the task encountering problems, as the planners, they are the most anxious, and now these fellows keep shouting, annoying everyone.

Fortunately, after some reprimands, everyone calms down,

”Right now, we are all in the same boat, if something happens, no one can escape, so we should be calm and unite.”

Someone expressed a few kind words, and everyone went with the flow.

However, a crucial issue lies before them.

What should they do next?

Continue waiting?

Or stay?

Or just leave this place of trouble?

...

Because it formally opens in the afternoon, those adventurers arriving at the frontline town find it’s already dusk, especially those who walk there, arriving in the town only at night.

Although the Scorpion Mercenary Group was delayed a bit, taking a carriage still made them part of the first tier to arrive, and what lay before them was a brand new town.

A large number of brick buildings, with a small square in the middle, surrounded by the core area.

This is a very conventional layout, similar to the grids of starting points in larger cities, except the biggest difference is the tallest building is no longer a church-like structure, but a three-story administrative building resembling a solemn fortress.

Even seeing the specifications, it seems larger than those in the city, this is something in Hamlet Region truly worthy of respect.

However, adventurers care more about bars, casinos, brothels and other entertainment venues, not to mention the smoke-billowing bathhouses.

After experiencing them, most find them quite enjoyable, especially after a tiring day, soaking in warm water, that’s what you call comfort.

There are also various extended projects; unfortunately such places are divided between male and female, otherwise there would be more variations.

But no one wants to challenge those regulations, as the previous guy who caused trouble at the bathhouse got hung at the bathhouse entrance for three days, and when he was let down, his eyes were much clearer.

Indeed, Hamlet’s ropes can transform people...

On the outskirts were separate structures, though not brick, but built from materials sourced in the wilderness.

Wood serves as the skeleton, mud mixed with weeds as the flesh to fill in, taking shape under the autumn wind, these are common products found during development.

Now the engineering team has produced the quickest results in the shortest time, but later they can be disassembled, the Lord’s requirement now is to build more in a short time to accommodate those fellows.

The reason is simple, winter is coming, people outside will freeze to death.

”Holy crap! This town is said to be completely new.”

”I heard it only took a little over a month.”

”Still under construction, probably...”

Compared to the buildings, Scorpion is more concerned about the workers, noticing their bodies appear healthy, all full of energy, none were lazy, all focused on working.

This state, he hasn’t seen even in Totnes, further proof of Hamlet’s uniqueness.

But compared to these, they care more about work matters, upon landing immediately assigning personnel to select strongholds, familiarize with the town and other messy things, that’s the benefit of a team, division of labor and cooperation.

Meanwhile, he leads two core members to scout the ruins, as seasoned mercenaries, they can enter the state faster than those chaotic adventurers.

Only just past the town, discovering the road to the ruins crowded with many people, this situation inevitably makes him alert.

Originally Scorpion worried whether the Lord’s openness was genuine, but approaching, discovering it’s not a block, rather those people are gathered around an announcement board on the roadside.

”Holy crap! Why are there so many people? Captain, what is written here?”
