Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1157: Chapter 638: Screamer Demon

Lance found the bizarre plot a bit strange and fell silent without saying anything.

He was also pondering, what is this all about?

From the sounds of it, the Fang Tribe might have long disappeared, with no survivors, and the truth buried in history.

The only thing Lance could ascertain was the trait of twisted flesh; could it also be related to the ancestor?

But he couldn’t voice it out, so he remained silent.

Boslake hadn’t finished speaking yet, anyway, he realized that chaos would reign in the mountains after he fled back, as those monsters were too terrifying.

Realizing that those large tribes couldn’t ensure their survival, let alone protect them, he simply persuaded everyone to descend the mountain, seeking the Sanctuary Grendel once promised.

However, the experiences along the way filled them with fear.

They initially thought the most dangerous route might encounter the Bastia army or even Knights, but they quickly passed through; however, upon entering the Hamlet Territory, all sorts of strange anomalies began to occur.

Exaggerated giant birds, half-human tall Giant Spiders, even the twisted jungle seemed to harbor malice...

Lance initially didn’t care much, but upon hearing about the giant bird, he couldn’t resist inquiring about the situation at the time.

Unfortunately, by that time, it was already evening, the sky was dim, and they saw a very exaggerated black shadow spread its wings...

Listening to Boslake’s description, Lance seemed to remember something.

It was a roaming boss called [Screamer Demon] in the game, appearing as a giant crow twisted by flesh.

It would appear after triggering specific events, and during the battle, it would flee after certain turns, needing to be killed within those turns.

At that time, one could acquire many pieces of equipment made from the Screamer Demon’s body materials, along with the peculiar power attached to it.

What truly caught Lance’s attention was not these, because the thing was shrouded in mystery within the game, with not much information provided.

However, in the materials he obtained, it mentioned that the Screamer Demon indeed had some connection with him...

If one paid attention, they would notice the black crow at the base of the Hamlet Family crest, with a shield above it, engraved with walls and towers.

These elements placed on the crest, representing identity, all carry special meanings.

For instance, the shield and the designs on it symbolize Hamlet Town’s defense, blocking enemies like city walls.

As long as Hamlet endures, foreign enemies find it hard to invade the Empire from this direction.

And the crow symbolizes the strength of the Hamlet Family, more accurately, Supernatural Power.

Behind everything leaving a mark in this world, there is more or less a shadow of Supernatural Power present.

Lance didn’t initially understand until he saw research notes documenting the ancestor sending fellow clansmen to the experiment table, including, of course, the Screamer Demon...

From this, Lance gleaned that the source of the Hamlet Family’s Supernatural Power came from that Supernatural Being, the Screamer Demon.

After all, no crow could grow to human height, just something similar to a crow with black feathers, bird-like in appearance.

Crow’s Eye, Crow’s Grace, Crow’s Strength.

Crow’s Blindness, Crow’s Curiosity, Crow’s Gluttony.

These were some traits summarized and documented by the ancestor, and the cost behind these figures goes without saying.

In simple terms, as with all Supernatural Power, obtaining these traits was fraught with uncertainty as well, with no one knowing what powers they would acquire.

Yet, the terrifying research by the ancestor could pinpoint and eradicate these traits, showcasing remarkable prowess. Lance only had a cursory understanding of these documents, given the plethora of complex and mysterious powers involved. He could only delve into them further if time allowed in the future.

Returning to familial power itself.

Yet, this alone wouldn’t suffice to elevate the Hamlet Family to such a level; the true key was that members of the Hamlet Family could contract the Screamer Demon.

This powerful Supernatural being’s most iconic ability was its soul-rending scream, effortlessly claiming lives within its range.

This soul-rending scream was not something physical defenses could block, conceivable only to those with treasures like the [Deep Sea Pearl].

Otherwise, a scream over the battlefield, and armor-clad soldiers would fall like mowed grass, much like a dragon breathing fire, except the sound wave is invisible.

Even in a legendary duel, the opponent is one Legendary, yet the Hamlet people and the bird count as two, no wonder they could guard this perilous land.

This is the origin of the Screamer Demon’s name, also part of the powerful foundation of the Hamlet Family, thus becoming a part of the family crest.

The Screamer Demon didn’t start off so large; it had to grow to reach such a stature.

So the exaggerated giant bird Boslake mentioned, and the scream that terrified the Barbarian Tribes from a distance, losing hope, could only have been the Legendary Screamer Demon.

How did that thing escape the ancestor’s grasp?

Or could it be the Screamer Demon contracted by the ancestor...

The answers to these questions were beyond Lance’s knowing, yet his heart lamented the ancestor’s ruination of this Supernatural pathway.

Originally, he should have been a graceful mage adorned in robes and holding a Magic Wand, with a crow perched on his shoulder, facing enemies with merely a gesture of a Flock of Crows Storm, tearing enemies apart with countless Screamer Demons.
