Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1167: Chapter 643: Traces and Clues

Perhaps they had heard of the bandit war, but there was no way they could know as much as Dismas.

At that time, their beginning was difficult, with residents becoming emaciated in a man-made famine, lacking money, people, and equipment.

The gap between them and the bandits was indescribable, with hundreds of the Allied Army of bandits, whereas their main force was just four, and assembling a militia capable of raising spears was already commendable, let alone anything else.

This situation, already desperate in the eyes of others, left even them with no hope, but the Lord did not give up, relying on various micro-management tactics to wear down the bandits, while simultaneously gathering resources to recover.

Provoking internal strife among them, leading the two strongest bandit groups to kill each other, followed by ambushing scattered bandits, further reducing their numbers.

Finally, leading the remaining bandits into town to eliminate uncontrollable elements, utilizing terrain to set traps, thoroughly exterminating the bandits entrenched on the old road.

The Lord led by example in these battles, charging at the forefront, and in the final battle, when the situation was dire, he single-handedly slaughtered the bandits into collapse.

”This is the armor the Lord wore at that time.”

The group had arrived at the memorial, and along with Dismas’ words, their gaze couldn’t help but focus on the armor covered in knife and axe marks on the rack.

The bloodstains and flesh remnants had long dried into a brown hue, yet the intense bloody scent still conveyed the brutality of the battle then.

It was as if even the Lord’s residual presence imposed an inexplicable pressure.

The Lord’s initial micro-management was known only to a few, and even Dismas had concealed much, such as driving wolves to devour the head wolf and involving the collector.

These detailed stories were not recorded, and what could be learned here were only a handful of sentences.

But those words indeed helped the other three understand more of Hamlet’s past.

”This suit of armor was worn by the outpost back then...”

Laura, often veiled in a hooded cloak, maintained an unapproachable stance, reluctant even to speak more than a few words.

Yet now she pointed to another set of armor, because she had been present at the time, witnessing the Lord fending off hundreds of evil cultists single-handedly.

Another set of heroic armor caught everyone’s eye, while in a way, it verified that these were merely Lance’s ”props” for manipulating people.

Seeing the situation become more bizarre, William couldn’t help but interject a reminder.

”The criminal hasn’t been caught yet, the Lord only gave us two days.”

His words shifted everyone’s focus back to the case, engaging them in research.

Amanda was about to act, but suddenly realized something awkward.

The more information about the target, the more accurate the result of divination and prophecy.

She was able to pursue Tamara across great distances because she knew that individual’s details clearly, along with having tools from the organization tainted with Tamara’s aura, able to pinpoint the target precisely.

But now, her direct indication was merely that Blood Garment, finding it would mean finding the criminal.

Yet the problem was she couldn’t directly direct divination at Blood Garment, as it was tainted with Lance’s aura, potentially stirring trouble.

Thus, she could only probe the surroundings for traces of Supernatural Power, while the others began their investigation.

”I’ve already checked the doors and windows, there are no signs of violent damage, it should’ve been a lock-picking entry, not too difficult.”

Laura was skilled in this area; she took a simple turn and provided her insight, the lock in her presence practically nonexistent.

”This is wax, the memorial isn’t open at night, and regulations clearly state no sources of fire, solidifying the conclusion that it was stolen.”

Fergus quickly sniffed out something, leading William to discover something unusual on the ground.

This naturally drew Dismas’ attention, crouching down to scrape off a bit with a fingertip, then leaned in closer to sniff.

”This isn’t a local candle, its scent is quite special...”

Dismas’ parents were candle makers, he had some understanding of candles, yet at this moment, he couldn’t determine this special type.

This clue also caught Amanda’s attention, a special candle might serve as a medium for divination.

She decisively took out a small knife to scrape off the remaining wax...

All the recruits in the training camp had been taken out for drills, it could be said now the entire camp had just a few relevant personnel assisting their investigation.

After a round of investigation, they finally halted outside the wall.

Standing close to the wall, Fergus sniffed the traces, while everyone noticed slight footprints on the wall.

”It should have been climbed over from here,” Dismas looked up at the watchtower, ”right in its blind spot.”

Amanda examined the traces, realizing she might not be able to complete this action easily.

Not that Amanda couldn’t climb the wall, but her full figure, though agile, wasn’t feather-light but rather swift and forceful.

Without leveraging tools, her direct step on the wall would likely crush the mortared surface.

Now a shallow half-footprint was enough to indicate something?

”Everyone, simulate the wall-climbing action.”

Without wasting words, Dismas moved to the side, leaping up with his arms hooking onto the wall, directly stepping on and climbing effortlessly.

While Amanda and the others were still analyzing and comparing traces, a sound suddenly came from Dismas on the other side.
