Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 633: Chapter 329: The Feasibility of a Cesarean Section

Juhua thought for a moment, then said to Qin Feng, ”I’m no doctor, so this is just a guess. But I think if you’re going to cut the abdomen open, you’ll need to use some kind of knockout drug to make her unconscious so you can operate. The pain would be too much otherwise. Of course, you have to be very careful with the drug; it can’t hurt the baby.”

Qin Feng nodded. ”That’s easy. My master developed a medicine long ago called ’A Dream in the South.’ It can put a person into a deep sleep for a short while. He often uses it to treat severe external wounds to lessen the patient’s pain. My master refined it over and over, so I’m certain it won’t affect the baby. In fact, I could also use silver needles on your acupoints to put you in an unconscious state, so we wouldn’t have to use the drug—no, I’m afraid that might not be enough—so we can at least use a smaller dose.”

Yun Ying, standing to the side, also nodded eagerly. Even though she didn’t believe this abdominal surgery was possible, she still listened intently.

Juhua was overjoyed and said quickly, ”That’s wonderful. Then there’s the matter of stitching everything up. It’s not like an external wound you can just sew shut. You have to suture two different places: one is the uterus, and the other is the belly. I’m sure you have a way to stitch the skin, but as for the uterus...”

Before she could finish, Qin Feng interjected, ”We definitely can’t use ordinary needle and thread to suture the uterus. Even when we stitch up external wounds, we use sutures made from animal intestines for critical areas. For the uterus, I’ll use sutures made from the intestines of sheep or deer. I’ll go to Little Qing Mountain myself to find them.”

’Juhua had never imagined they possessed such techniques. What was there left to worry about? This surgery might be even safer than one in her past life! Other than the fact they’d never performed this procedure before, their biggest advantage was being able to diagnose a person’s condition just by taking their pulse. They could solve problems with a single needle that Western medicine couldn’t. And that wasn’t even mentioning that these two were descended from renowned physicians. Don’t let their youth fool you; they had well over ten years of medical experience. The post-operative care and recovery would definitely be better than what she’d get in a hospital in her previous life.’

She asked excitedly, ”Why do you have to go into Little Qing Mountain? Couldn’t you just buy a sheep at the market?”

Yun Ying explained, ”Those kinds of sheep won’t work—their intestines aren’t good enough. We need a wild antelope or a golden deer. The sutures made from them are much better. They won’t irritate the wound at all and will dissolve on their own after a little while.”

’Juhua was absolutely ecstatic. She finally put all her worries to rest. Weren’t there people in her past life who opted for a caesarean just because they were afraid of the pain? She was being forced into it, but with these two by her side, what was there to fear?’

She then asked, puzzled, ”In that case, what are you worried about?”

Qin Feng felt his headache returning. He asked, exasperated, ”There won’t be any problems... taking the baby out like this? Besides, we... we’ve never actually cut someone open before!” ’From her words, it was clear Juhua was a complete amateur. How could such a monumental procedure be treated like a game? It was nowhere near that simple.’

The gloom in Juhua’s heart lifted. In her delight, she blurted out, ”No problem. Of course, all things in nature have their own course, and a natural birth is ideal. But this surgery is for emergencies, and it can save both mother and child. With caesareans, ninety-nine percent of childbirths are without risk. If something does go wrong, it must be because the doctor wasn’t skilled enough, or they lacked the proper ethics and weren’t careful during the procedure.”

As she was speaking, she noticed Qin Feng staring at her, his gaze deep and searching. She froze for a moment. ’Crap, I let it slip again. How am I supposed to explain all this? What place was I even talking about?’

When Qin Feng saw Juhua’s alarm, he shot a sharp glance at Yun Ying—so fierce it made her jump—stopping the question she was about to ask. Then he smiled at Juhua. ”Don’t worry. We won’t ask how you know these things. We have our own closely guarded secrets, too.”

Juhua forced a smile. ”That’s true. Everyone has secrets they can’t share with the world.” Despite her words, she was still tense, anxiously twisting the handkerchief in her hands.

Qin Feng reminded her, ”This method might be worth a try, but we’ve never actually done it...”

Hearing this, Juhua quickly looked up. ”That can be solved. I still have some time before the delivery. You two can get some animals to practice on and get the hang of it. You’ll also need to make some high-proof alcohol for sterilization—I can take care of that. Even if you’ve never performed this kind of surgery, your medical skills are superb. You’ll pick it up much faster than a complete beginner could. Though, if it’s possible, the best thing would be to find some human cadavers to practice on.”

’As if she would let them use a scalpel on her without any practice! A few months should be enough time, though. Medical students pore over books for five years before interning at a hospital and practicing on live patients, don’t they? Qin Feng and Yun Ying were surely far more skilled than them.’
