Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 609: Chapter 317: Where on Qingshan to Bury the Fragrant Bones

Li Changliang laid into Liu’er’s mother so fiercely that she was choked into silence, her eyes rolling back in her head. She couldn’t utter a single word in response and collapsed weakly to the ground.

He then turned to Sun Tiezhu at the side and said scornfully, ”Sun Tiezhu, are you even a man? Let’s not even talk about your sister being married off as a concubine. Now she’s half-dead, just wants to come home for a couple of days, and your own family won’t have her. None of us fellow villagers have shunned her, yet you’re the ones to cast her aside? Little Qing Mountain is plenty big. Burying one person won’t take up that much room.”

Sun Tiezhu’s face was ashen. He stepped forward, pulled up his mother who was still reeling from the tirade, and turned to leave. He couldn’t stand to be there a moment longer—the low whispers from the crowd of onlookers made him wish the ground would swallow him whole. Thinking of his sister at home, barely breathing, he was overcome with anguish but felt completely lost. ’Of course, I never wanted to see my sister divorced and sent back home,’ he thought. ’But is this right or wrong?’

His wife, Mrs. Wang, was displeased to see Li Changliang get the better of both her mother-in-law and her husband. She was normally a reasonable person, but on the matter of Liu’er returning home, she had her own firm ideas.

If Liu’er had merely come back to stay for a few days, she certainly wouldn’t have objected. But to be divorced and sent back to her parents’ home—and to have requested the divorce herself, no less—was something she could not accept.

’As the saying goes, ”A day as a couple creates a hundred days of kindness.” And ”Couples fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot.” How could you just get divorced and sent back to your parents’ home so casually? Even if you were wronged by your in-laws, you couldn’t just sever ties like that.’

’Besides, which daughter-in-law hasn’t gone through the same thing? She had been so frank and cheerful at her own parents’ home, but didn’t she have to learn to walk on eggshells after marrying into the Sun Family? She had to wait on her mother-in-law like she was a revered ancestor. If she got divorced every time something displeased her, she’d have been sent home countless times by now.’

A single phrase perfectly described this daughter-in-law’s figure: full-breasted and wide-hipped. She was an extremely alluring woman.

Just then, her eyes flashed. With a solemn expression, she said to Li Changliang, ”You have a point, and deep down, my mother is grateful that you all helped my sister-in-law. However, I don’t think you thought this through. You aren’t part of the Sun Family, so you really shouldn’t have meddled in this. More importantly, you’re all young men. Even if your intentions were good, you should have come back to get my Tie Zhu, or my father- and mother-in-law to pick her up, not just carry her back yourselves. Not to mention that Huai Zi once proposed to my sister-in-law. Now here he is, bustling about for her sake... what are people supposed to think? For all we know, the Tang family agreed to the divorce precisely because of that.”

Juhua sighed and pressed a hand to her forehead. ’Another firestarter,’ she thought. ’The exceptional wives of Qingnan Village are truly a relentless wave, one falling only for another to take her place. This land will never want for talent!’

This daughter-in-law was far more eloquent than Liu’er’s mother. Some bystanders nodded in agreement as they listened, feeling that Huai Zi and his friends had indeed been rash. If they had just come back to get the Sun Family, none of this would have happened.

Zhang Huai and He were enraged and about to lash out, but Li Changliang was quicker. Against him, this woman’s every reason was useless.

He pointed at Mrs. Wang and let loose a torrent of abuse. ”You’re a real piece of work yourself! The moment you stick your ass in the air, I know what kind of shit you’re about to drop. All that nonsense you spouted, it’s just because you’re scared Liu’er will come back, won’t be able to remarry, and will be an eyesore around the house. But that’s no reason to sling mud all over her and Huai Zi! It wasn’t just Huai Zi who carried Liu’er on the way here—Sanshun and I did, too! Are you going to badmouth us as well? And just what are you getting at? Are you saying that even if Liu’er was dying on the roadside, we shouldn’t have touched her? That we should’ve run back and told Sun Tiezhu to go collect her corpse? Is that it?”

The onlookers could hardly suppress their laughter, but they didn’t dare let it show—everyone was a little wary of this hotheaded brute.

Mrs. Wang had felt her speech was perfectly reasonable and well-argued, but this simple-minded brute had torn it to shreds in just a few words. She was momentarily stunned speechless with rage.

After tearing into Mrs. Wang, Li Changliang turned to Sun Tiezhu with a cold sneer. ”Sun Tiezhu, you’ve married a fine wife. Real capable. Looks like Qingnan Village has a new big shot. She looks presentable enough, but her head’s full of nothing but shit. I’d rather be a bachelor. What a piece of work. If I married a woman like that, I’d strangle her with a rope and drag her to a weedy ditch to be buried. Save her the trouble of staying in this world and plaguing everyone.”

His menacing glare made Mrs. Wang shudder, and she retreated several steps involuntarily.

Zhang Huai finally waited for him to finish. Seizing his chance, he angrily snarled, ”Sun Tiezhu, if you don’t teach that wife of yours a lesson today, I swear, even if I don’t strangle her, I’ll knock all her teeth out! We’ll see if she still dares to spread vicious lies after that!”
