Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 607: Chapter 316: The Unreasonable Li Changliang

When Juhua saw Liu’er’s mother savagely biting Huai Zi, she couldn’t help but cry out in alarm. Zhang Yang and Little Shitou also rushed forward to try and pull her off.

Suddenly, He burst from the kitchen like a gust of wind. As she passed Juhua, she didn’t forget to say, ”You go inside first.” Then, with a ferocious look on her face, she rushed up to Liu’er’s mother and slapped her hard across the face.

She had been in the kitchen cooking. She’d heard Liu’er’s mother’s first curse, but she was stir-frying something in the wok and couldn’t free her hands. But before she could even dish out the food, she heard Liu’er’s mother cursing Juhua. She no longer cared if the food burned; she dropped the spatula and charged out.

Liu’er’s mother was past caring. Even after He slapped her, she refused to let go of Huai Zi’s wrist. Her heart was filled with a crazed fury, and she bit down even harder.

Pain shot through Zhang Huai, and he stopped in his tracks. He used his other hand to grip her jaw tightly, forcing her to release her teeth.

He saw that the woman would rather take a beating than let go. ’If she keeps biting like that, she’ll sever my son’s tendons!’ Alarmed and enraged, she grabbed the woman’s hair with one hand and covered her eyes with the other. Spreading her fingers, she snarled, ”You dare keep biting? I’ll gouge your eyes out, see if I don’t!” But by then, she saw that Huai Zi had already pried her mouth open.

Liu’er’s mother saw Zhang Huai dragging her outside without an ounce of mercy. He had slapped her and was now threatening to gouge out her eyes. On top of that, she remembered this whole affair was because Liu’er had been divorced. For these three reasons, each one intolerable, a furious rage consumed her and she went completely berserk. Once Zhang Huai had dragged her outside the courtyard, she immediately started rolling on the ground and throwing a tantrum, shrieking profanities and throwing herself headfirst at Huai Zi, looking ready to fight to the death.

Infuriated, Zhang Huai grabbed both her arms to stop her from running wild.

But when a woman starts a fight, her whole body is a weapon. With her hands restrained, Liu’er’s mother resorted to kicking, biting, and spitting. She even used her rear to bump him and her knees to jab him, constantly switching tactics with fluid skill. She forced Huai Zi into a flustered panic, and for a moment, he didn’t know what to do. ’Am I supposed to beat her to death?’ he thought. If he truly struck her, he feared the woman wouldn’t even survive a single blow.

In a fit of anger, he flung her away with both hands. She landed hard on her backside. ’If I can’t hit her, I can at least keep her away from me.’

He had let her guard down for a moment, but when she saw the woman pestering her son again, she angrily rushed over to continue the fight. Who would have thought that after being thrown to the ground, the woman wouldn’t get up? Instead, she sat there, slapping her thighs and screaming, ”Murder! Zhang Dashuan’s son is a murderer! A mother and son are ganging up on one person...!”

He and her son were stunned by her frenzied display. He deeply felt that when it came to the art of picking a fight, she was leagues below Liu’er’s mother.

Juhua saw that Liu’er’s mother had started to go all out with her tantrum. ’Right now, she isn’t afraid of being hit. In fact, she’d love it if you hit her harder so she’d have an excuse to cling to our family. You can’t reason with her, either; we’re on completely different wavelengths. This kind of person is the biggest headache. It’s an impossible situation; you can’t fight her, and you can’t reason with her. The only thing to do is get the village chief.’

She called over Zhang Yang and told him to pull Zhang Huai back. Then she gave Little Shitou a few instructions, telling him to go get the village chief and, while he was at it, to ask Liu Sanshun and Liu Sixun to come and be witnesses—they must have been there when Liu’er was rescued.

Zhang Yang went over to his brother and said, ”Don’t bother with this crazy woman. Shi Tou has gone to get Uncle Li.”

He also said to Huai Zi, ”Get away from here! Go look after Juhua. Leave this damn woman to me. I’ll see this through with her today.”

Liu’er’s mother overheard her. She knew that no matter how viciously she cursed, it wouldn’t work, and she couldn’t win in a fight. Their only weak spot was Juhua. So she started viciously cursing Juhua, the insult ”scabby girl” constantly on her lips. She also called her a sickly weakling who couldn’t bear children, saying she probably couldn’t even manage to pop out a mangy mutt.

These words enraged both mother and son. Zhang Huai clenched his fists and was about to move, but Zhang Yang grabbed him, saying, ”Juhua told you to go back.” He stepped forward and gave Liu’er’s mother another slap.

Liu’er’s mother instantly went into a frenzy and began brawling with her.

In that short amount of time, everyone living by the mountain had been alerted by the commotion. Wives and mothers-in-law who were cooking dropped their spatulas, and men who had just returned from the fields, still carrying their hoes, all gathered in front of the Zhang family’s courtyard gate.

Their next-door neighbors, Mrs. Yang and Liu Yunlan, were also alerted. When Mrs. Yang heard Liu’er’s mother cursing Juhua, all her old and new grudges surged to the forefront. She rushed out of her yard and, together with He, pinned Liu’er’s mother to the ground and started hitting her. Liu’er’s mother began to howl.

The two families were now in an all-out brawl, but the onlookers still didn’t understand what had happened. They assumed that some long-standing feud had finally erupted and so they kept trying to mediate, telling them to talk things out calmly.
