Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 630: Chapter 327: Initial Diagnosis (Part 2)

Seeing his anxious expression, Juhua couldn’t help but chuckle. ”What’s the rush? Doctor Qin isn’t leaving right this minute. Doctor Qin, why don’t you rest for the night and take my pulse tomorrow? If you’re too exhausted, won’t your reading be inaccurate? I think taking a pulse is such a mysterious business. It’s a good thing I never studied medicine; otherwise, I’m sure everyone’s pulse would feel the same to me. How can anyone possibly feel such a subtle difference?”

Qin Feng smiled and said to her, ”I’ll just take a preliminary reading for now; I will naturally take it again tomorrow. Every profession has its secrets. To an outsider, taking a pulse might seem very difficult, but once you get the hang of it, I’m sure someone as meticulous and calm as you could learn it well.”

As they spoke, they arrived at the Zhang family home. Zhang Huai immediately began to make arrangements, asking Qin Feng where he would take Juhua’s pulse.

Qin Feng waved his hand. ”No need to fuss. This is very simple.”

With that, he took a small wrist cushion from his medical kit and sat at the table. He had Juhua come closer and sit down, then reached out to take her pulse.

He checked the pulse in both of Juhua’s wrists, one after the other, and his heart sank. He tried his best to keep his expression neutral as he fell silent, pondering a solution. ’Losing this child isn’t an option, but giving birth will be difficult. What on earth should I do?’

When Juhua saw him fall silent, lost in thought, she grew uneasy and called out softly, ”Doctor Qin? Doctor Qin?”

Just then, Zhang Dashuan, He, Zhang Huai, and Zhang Yang were all waiting to the side. They stared nervously at Qin Feng, waiting to hear what he would say.

Zhang Huai grew just as anxious as Juhua, forcing himself to wait patiently for the doctor’s reply.

After a long moment, Qin Feng finally looked up and smiled at everyone. ”It’s nothing serious. Juhua is just a little weak, so I’m afraid childbirth might be difficult for her. But I’m already thinking of a solution!”

Everyone was overjoyed. If Doctor Qin had simply said Juhua was fine, they might not have believed him. ’After all, if nothing was wrong, why would he think for so long?’ But his words—that Juhua was a bit weak—echoed their own worries. And more importantly, he said he was already working on a solution, all without a hint of concern. This was incredibly reassuring. They were confident that Doctor Qin would find a way.

The family was positively beaming.

Zhang Huai glanced at his parents and said, ”See? I told you everything would be fine once Doctor Qin returned. Could a midwife handle Juhua’s condition? All they do is lend a hand when it’s time to deliver the baby.”

He nodded happily. ”Yes! That’s right. What do midwives know about these things? They can’t compare to Doctor Qin. Huai Zi, quickly take Doctor Qin over to Qingmu’s to rest. He already came by to fetch him once, saying the room and bedding are all ready.”

The Zhang family’s house was on the smaller side, while the Zheng Family had more rooms, so they had arranged for Qin Feng to stay there. They figured that in a couple of days, they would find a more suitable place for him, since he needed a quiet space to practice medicine and prepare remedies.

Juhua herself breathed a sigh of relief. While thanking Doctor Qin, she told Zhang Huai to see him out so he could rest.

Qin Feng stood up and smiled at her. ”You’re in much better shape than you were before. It’s clear you’ve been managing your diet well. Just keep eating like this from now on. Have you been feeling tired a lot lately?”

Juhua quickly nodded, saying she got tired very easily. Sleeping too long wasn’t good, standing too long wasn’t good, and even sitting for too long was uncomfortable. And by ”too long,” she really meant just a short while.

Qin Feng nodded. ”I’ll come see you again tomorrow. I’ll prepare some medicine for you.”

Juhua asked hesitantly, ”Can I take medicine right now? People say that all medicine is partly poison, and it’s best to avoid it during pregnancy. Why don’t you tell me what foods would work instead? We can use dietary remedies!”

Qin Feng was taken aback. He stared at Juhua for a moment, his gaze profound, before chuckling softly. ”It’s not that kind of medicine. It’s formulated from nourishing herbs, so you could consider it a dietary remedy. It’s just made into pills to make it easier to take.”

Juhua finally relaxed, but then she asked with renewed concern, ”Doctor Qin, this medicine must be very expensive, right? You have to tell me the real price. I felt so uneasy when you gave me that ginseng last time. Then you had your junior apprentice bring all those other medicines. Even though she lost them, you still went to all the trouble of collecting them for me. If you’re going to prepare more, you have to take our Silver. Otherwise, you’ll take a loss, and I wouldn’t dare accept it. Don’t worry, we’re not as poor as we used to be. We’ve saved up quite a bit of money.”

Hearing Juhua’s words, Qin Feng was deeply shaken and stood frozen to the spot!

’That’s right,’ he thought. ’I have been overly concerned about Juhua. Even if I have a thousand reasons, in the eyes of others, this is far too unusual. The medicines I’ve collected and prepared for her are by no means simple. Not charging for them is one thing, but to have my apprentice deliver them from so far away without a clear explanation... No wonder she grew suspicious. Even Juhua herself is uneasy!’

He looked at Juhua and Zhang Huai. ’I can’t let any more misunderstandings arise between them,’ he thought.

He spoke seriously to Juhua and Zhang Huai. ”If I treated every patient like this, I really couldn’t afford it. While we doctors should have a parent’s heart for our patients, we’re not running a charitable hall. Firstly, it’s because Juhua taught me that breathing technique all those years ago. You may not know this, but my Master was overjoyed when he heard about it. He personally prepared the medicine that was sent last time, saying he wanted to thank you properly. Secondly, doctors are always particularly interested in difficult and complicated cases. The rash on Juhua’s face puzzled me for a long time. I’ve always wanted to cure you completely, as I’m sure my medical skills would improve as a result. Thirdly,” he chuckled, ”I’m very fond of Qingnan Village. I’ve always felt the villagers here are like family, so I don’t worry too much about Silver Coins when I treat you all. If you have the money, feel free to pay something. And when you go up the mountain, you can help me dig for medicinal herbs. All of that counts as helping me!”

Zhang Dashuan laughed heartily. ”Doctor Qin, I love hunting in the mountains! From now on, I’ll go up with you and help you dig for herbs.” (To be continued.
