I AM the Football Star

Chapter 313: Chapter 98: Everyone Is San Remo (Part 4)

”Lu Yang’s movement is causing some chaos in Samp’s defensive formation; they are unsure whether to mark him or not.”

”There are currently two San Remo players being man-marked, namely Becher’s and Morici. No one is marking Lu Yang, but he already has one assist and one goal in this match. His tactical threat may not be significant, but his personal threat is undeniable.”

”Indeed! The players on the field are still uneasy about Lu Yang; someone just moved to cover him. Now Becher’s has an opportunity, and Versachi is passing...”

”Why isn’t Versachi passing the ball? What is he doing?”

”Dribbling past opponents, Versachi actually bypassed the defender, but Becher’s opportunity is gone now. Samp’s left-back moved up, and their left-center back shifted left, blocking all of Becher’s threatening routes.”

”Pass the ball! What use is passing now, Versachi?”

”Wait! What is this...”

”A through pass! Nearly half the pitch in distance, Versachi dares to make that pass! Lu Yang and Becher’s movements have created an open pathway, an incredible opportunity!”

”Sogel has a chance! Can he break through for a one-on-one?”

”Oh no! Sogel seems to be out of energy; he slowed down during a physical confrontation with the center-back. If he could outrun his opponent, he’d have a shot on goal!”

”However, Sogel’s decision was still clever. By deliberately slowing down, he may have lost a one-on-one opportunity, but he gained control of the ball, as the opponent won’t challenge him for it but will wait until he tries to stop it.”

”Versachi’s through pass was brilliant; this player is still a significant threat.”

The commentator seemed to forget his earlier criticism of Versachi.

Because this opportunity was clearly better than Becher’s earlier chance.

Moreover, this opportunity was entirely created by Versachi himself.

Creative midfield players are treasures for the future.

Bang!

Sogel did not stop the ball as the opponent expected, nor did he attempt a dribble or create shooting space.

Instead, he chose to pass it back directly.

The Mariners seemed to forget where San Remo’s first light came from.

Today, at the Marassi Stadium, the first goal was scored by Lu Yang!

Bang!

Lu Yang, three steps outside the edge of the penalty arc, suddenly unleashed a powerful shot!

This was a long-range shot from almost thirty meters.

It’s challenging even for Serie A level players to make a shot from this position significantly threatening.

But... the legendary War God Batistuta is definitely among the most formidable.

The Sampdoria Goalkeeper executed an extreme save, with his fingertips barely grazing the football.

However, he could only be thankful that his fingers had only slightly touched the ball.

Because even with that, his fingers felt a powerful force.

A faint burning smell emanated from the tip of his glove’s middle finger.

What got scorched?

”GOAL! It went in, once again! San Remo leads four to one, with Lu Yang scoring a brace! Twice breaking through Samp’s defenses!”

”Lu Yang’s positioning for this shot was unbelievably favorable! Samp paid the price for underestimating him!”

”San Remo has so many players capable of stepping up. Versachi performed excellently today; this young Purple Lily talent only cost San Remo thirty thousand euros, which is almost like a giveaway!”

”Of course, the Purple Lily and San Remo also have a buy-back clause in the loan-to-buy agreement. At the right time, the Purple Lily can reacquire Versachi at a reasonable price back to Florence.”

”But that price certainly won’t be low because Versachi’s talent is quickly being realized! This deal was a big win for San Remo!”

After scoring, Lu Yang avoided provoking the fans and celebrated simply with his teammates. He still had significant defensive tasks to manage and aimed to avoid any bookings.

In the seventy-fifth minute, Belletti replaced Becher’s.

Becher’s received applause from San Remo fans; his threat was visible to the naked eye.

But in the seventy-eighth minute, the opposition exploited space behind Versachi. Morici, already carrying a yellow card, avoided fouling and got overtaken by the opponent’s number eight.

Next up was their number eleven, similarly scoring a second personal goal with a long-range shot.

This brought the score to four to two.

The drawback of substituting Latu Yidi off was becoming apparent.

The Lu, Mo, and Velsa trio was different from the Lu, Mo, and Latu trio altogether.

The former was strong, while the latter was somewhat imbalanced, being strong in attack but weak in defense.

Unless you have Lu Yang playing as a holding midfielder.

But... how could Miss Dong, accustomed to galloping the vast fields, ever want to return home to the pastures?

Except for special situations, Lu Yang rarely reverted to defensive positions.

The league’s top scorer + assist leader + best player, versus the league’s top tackler + best defensive player, even though it’s tough to choose, if you had to, no one would choose the latter, right?

No way, no way!

In the remaining match, Lu Yang returned to a holding midfield position, forming a double pivot with Morici.

Versachi temporarily took up the attacking midfielder role.

In the final moments, Lu Yang was determined not to let the opponent score again.

A four-to-two finish could still be considered a big win.

But four-to-three doesn’t have the same commanding ring to it.

He wanted to not just defeat the Serie A team but make the victory appear dominant.

In the eighty-sixth minute of the match.

Lu Yang seized the opportunity to play a one-two with Versachi.

Then Versachi moved forward.

Lu Yang then used his right foot to execute J Luo’s curved cross.

The ball soared over the opposition’s midfielders and right-back, finding Bai Zhami sprinting down the left flank.

Bai Zhami dribbled it to the baseline, with the opponent unable to catch up with him.

Bang!

Bai Zhami sent in a cross.

The quality was surprisingly good.

Sogel held off the center-back but wasn’t competing for the ball.

Because out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a red-and-white figure.

Bang!

Versachi charged into the penalty area, leapt high, and scored with a header!

Five to two!

San Remo is on fire!
