I AM the Football Star

Chapter 46: Chapter 20: Lu, It’s Not Convenient Here—Let’s Go to My Place!

Who’s the best in publicity stunts?

Hans from the Live Football Report is the king!

Hans always manages to create news that attracts everyone’s attention.

Many people want to ask Hans about his writing skills.

But actually, Hans himself knows that while his copywriting skills are one aspect, the real reason he’s become a darling of the fans’ discourse is because he found a collaborator.

Lu Yang knows how to make things happen.

Hans easily scores headlines thanks to Lu Yang.

For example, apart from the news of Lu Yang scoring one goal and making one assist, Hans also listed statistics for San Remo’s main players this season, which similarly shocked the entire Italian D League.

Let’s first talk about Vedian, who’s participated in almost every match this season.

The league has currently run for a total of thirty-one rounds, and his stats are a frightening twenty-two goals and eight assists, averaging nearly one goal contribution per game.

He is undoubtedly the current top scorer and is more than five goals ahead of the second place. Considering there are only seven rounds left in the league, he has a great chance of being crowned this season’s Italian D Division top scorer.

But the most surprising thing is not his goal data, but his assists.

He only needs two more assists to achieve the ”20+10” milestone.

This is an incredible stat in any league.

Some even believe Vedian can play out a ”25+10” devilish figure.

Next up is Morici.

Morici started playing from the 20th round of the league, playing a total of twelve matches.

His stats are three goals and eleven assists!

He averages over one goal contribution per game, with extremely high efficiency.

Furthermore, he is the midfield core of San Remo, organizing the team’s midfield and offensive play systematically. Such a player is impressive even without any statistics, let alone the many assists he racked up from his position as the team’s defensive midfielder.

This fully proves his offensive threat, delivering sharp through balls even far from the goal.

Lastly, there’s Lu Yang’s stats.

Like Morici, he’s played twelve matches.

His stats are unexpectedly ten goals and six assists.

He’s the most efficient player in the San Remo lineup.

Don’t even mention defensive midfielders, not to speak of center-backs; this data deserves a ”666” rating as if he were a forward.

At the same time, his average tackles and interceptions per game are at the top of the Italian D League.

Both these stats are nearly double those of second place in the league.

His total tackles and interceptions this season have all ranked in the top eight in the league, with not much difference from the players ahead.

If he maintains this efficiency, he’s very likely to achieve first in tackles and interceptions for averages and totals by the end of the season!

If he appeared in top leagues, such a player is often referred to as a B2B player. This is the top form of a modern football midfielder, who can fully and maximally participate in matches, greatly impacting the team’s offense and defense.

Of course, Lu Yang can only play the B2B role in the Italian D League because here, he looks like a ”Hexagon Warrior” with good attributes all around.

But if he moves to higher tier leagues, he may become the kind of player who knows a bit of everything but is not particularly skilled in any aspect. Such players often find it hard to secure a stable position, only briefly staying for one or two seasons before quickly dropping to lower leagues.

After the match against Juventus, Lu Yang still got a random package, but it wasn’t because of his stellar performance. Instead, it was because his influence in Italian football had reached a small level of fame.

After unboxing, Lu Yang acquired a player-level skill, Fancy Stop.

Fancy Stop allows a player to stop the ball in various dazzling ways, with a certain probability of failure.

Obviously, this is not as good as Marcelo’s instep stop.

But the application of a Fancy Stop is very broad.

When a teammate makes a long pass, he can jump up and catch it with an ankle flick, or with his back, or lift the ball from behind while running—all are forms of a Fancy Stop.

From now on, Lu Yang will not only have the skill to trap the ball when stationary, which is very important.

Also, to celebrate having dinner with Sofia, Lu Yang opened his own stash package, leaving only one package in reserve for emergencies.

As it turns out, this package was incredibly worthwhile to open.

”Ding, you have acquired the player skill, Low Pass!”

Low Pass, like Heavier Spin Pass, is a type of long pass.

The difference is that the former, with less curvature, stays in the air for a shorter time. Simply put, the ball travels faster.

This is more suited to partnering with Vedian for fast breaks.

Heavier Spin Pass is precise, but it’s a bit slow, more suitable for shifting attacks, not for creating quick scoring chances, which Morici previously complained about.

And Low Pass can perfectly solve this problem.

Of course, Low Pass isn’t the ultimate in fast passing; some players can pass even faster.

Such as De Bruyne, known as the best attacking midfielder in the world. His function on the field is more like a turbocharger. With his great vision and football intelligence, he excels at powerful and fast pass-shooting without stopping the ball.

The reason it’s called pass-shooting, not passing, is that his passes have such strength and speed that they feel like a shot.

Defenders can hardly intercept such passes, and even if they do, they may not be able to disrupt the scoring opportunity, yet De Bruyne’s teammates can somehow receive them, which is quite magical.
