I AM the Football Star

Chapter 42: Chapter 18: Does Lu Yang Like to Drive Big Rigs? (Part 2)

With a team like this, once you start paying attention, you’re hooked.

...

”Come on, Lu, Morici, hurry up!” Vedian shouted excitedly from below the dormitory building.

”Alright, alright, we’re coming.” Morici looked exasperated, ”Why are they so enthusiastic about this stuff? Wouldn’t it be better to spend our limited time on more meaningful things? Doesn’t playing soccer feel much better?”

Lu Yang had just finished showering and was changing into casual clothes: ”There’s no way, most teams have this kind of culture. Besides... they do need to relax a bit. After this fun night, we’re going to make a push for the promotion zone.”

With that, Lu Yang put on a white shirt and jeans, complemented by a pair of brown Martin boots.

It was a casual outfit, but on his six-foot frame, it was different. It was like he was glowing.

In fact, the team’s players had planned to hit the bar together tonight.

It was a group activity that even Rondo agreed to, so Lu Yang and Morici couldn’t not join in.

But they were different from some of the other players.

Some players went to bars for adult activities.

Older ones would just spend money directly.

The guys in their twenties preferred to try their personal charm first for a free workout opportunity.

Meanwhile, Lu Yang and Morici, the rookies, wouldn’t engage in such follow-up activities; they were just responsible for drinking and humming songs, essentially being the vibe creators.

This is why Morici wasn’t keen on going.

This kid was quite the flirt but just wouldn’t spend money for thrills, believing in love at his age.

But unfortunately, love doesn’t exist in bars.

Even if it did, it wouldn’t be for a guy who’s five foot seven.

After heading down, they joined Vedian in Rondo’s car.

”Your passing was much more accurate today,” Morici said in the car, still talking about the practice he had with Lu Yang.

”Because I also want to deliver brilliant assists to Vedian,” Lu Yang chuckled.

”But it’s still missing something. Your long passes have become quite accurate, and the spin helps the receiver control the ball, but they’re slow, making direct assists difficult,” Morici commented professionally, immediately identifying Lu Yang’s passes as Heavier Spin Passes.

Yes, that’s exactly the Player-level Skill in the Legacy of Stars: Heavier Spin Pass.

After the last game, Lu Yang learned through the system that he had gained some recognition from Sotu, as the system had rewarded him.

His long pass attribute was unlocked, scoring a modest 50, which was barely usable.

”While I’m touched that you all compete to assist me, could we stop talking about football now? We’re going to the biggest bar in San Remo. Aren’t you excited about all the beautiful women inside?” Vedian, true to his West African friends, perked up at the mention.

”Uh... the premise is you have enough money, Vedian,” Lu Yang reminded him. ”With your looks, you might not find a free ’playing field’ to tour.”

”I’m willing to spend all of my goal bonuses!” Vedian exclaimed with confidence.

Rondo, listening to the three rookies, sneered disdainfully.

They’re all losers.

Just wait until we get to the bar, and I’ll show you the charm of the classic San Remo gentleman, Rondo.

Eight o’clock, a bar in San Remo.

Lu Yang and Morici sat in a booth, looking a bit bored.

Rondo was indeed a local celebrity. As soon as he entered, many people greeted him, and he immediately began to mingle. But he didn’t interact with any women, as he was already married.

One could see the glimmer of tears in Rondo’s eyes.

San Remo is still a bit too small; he couldn’t mess around.

The other players weren’t so restrained, thriving in the bar like fish in water, especially since San Remo had been a city hero recently. This coastal city’s tourism was already decent, and thanks to Lu Yang and the team’s record, the tourist flow had increased significantly.

So many more people supported the team.

Vedian had gone out a few times, each time returning empty-handed, until finally a black girl gave him a chance to continue the conversation.

Not every woman is interested in an overly eager man.

The team’s backup central defender, Naji, also struggled due to his towering height.

A pairing of five foot two and six foot three really lacks immersion, not recommended unless for treating cervical ailments.

”Is this how we’re spending the evening?” Morici was dejected.

Lu Yang nodded, stretching with a yawn.

But just then, his hand blocked someone passing by.

”Ah!”

The other person let out a shriek, dropping what they were holding.

Lu Yang quickly stood up to help pick it up, apologizing as he looked up.

And then he froze.

Those headlights are so bright!

Classic black wavy long hair draped over her shoulders.

A sensual purple bodycon mini dress.

The top had spaghetti straps, but the material was so thin that it left noticeable marks on her shoulders.

This meant that these two straps bore significant weight.

Indeed, looking down, the beauty’s bosom was substantial, a snowy expanse.

The dress was so short it barely covered her waist.

She wore black stockings, creating a highly enigmatic and alluring combination with the purple and black.

This woman was extraordinarily glamorous!

”Can you give me my script back?” the woman said, not looking particularly pleased.

”Sure.” Since the floor wasn’t very clean, Lu Yang wiped the script with a tissue, even flipping through it to ensure cleanliness.

This won the woman’s favor, at least she didn’t look so grim anymore.

Respect between people is mutual.

”The Naples Businessman Murder Case?” Lu Yang read the title of the script aloud, instinctively scanning its contents.

The woman took back the script, nodded, and was about to leave.

But she found she couldn’t move.

Because Lu Yang’s hand hadn’t let go.

A look of confusion spread across the woman’s face.

”I’m a suspense fan, and this might be a bold request, but could I take a look at this script?” Lu Yang asked.

Rather than watching the people bop around in the bar, Lu Yang would prefer to revisit suspense classics to keep his mind sharp.

”That pickup line isn’t very clever. How old are you? Nineteen or twenty? I’m already twenty-eight, and I prefer mature men.” The woman’s expression was icy, her words a covert attack on anyone with frivolous intentions.

Like bystander rookie Morici.

Because it’s essentially saying: You’re just a kid!

But Lu Yang smiled. He saw a glimmer of heat in the woman’s eyes.

Every creator hopes for others to appreciate their work.

This woman was no different.

But she had been denied too many times, so...

”Actually, when I saw this title, a story popped into my head. Maybe we could discuss it later. That way you’ll know I’m not hitting on you; it’s just that this is my first time in a bar, and I saw something that piqued my interest, so...” Lu Yang explained.

The woman looked at Lu Yang.

Lu Yang’s gaze was firm, with a smile at the corners of his mouth.

”Alright, that kid over there, could you please get me a mojito?” the woman plopped down next to Lu Yang, ”I really want to hear what you have to say.”

Morici, seeing the woman’s gaze, got up to leave on his own.

After taking a few steps, he suddenly recalled, I’m not the kid, Lu Yang is the real kid; I’m a year older than him!

But there was no turning back once he had stood. He could only go and order drinks.

He couldn’t fight against the supernatural power of excuses like ”I’m already here” and ”it’s a special occasion.”

And when Morici came back with the mojito, his world crumbled.

Because Lu Yang was happily chatting with that gorgeous woman in a purple bodycon miniskirt, pointing at the script, while the beauty was listening intently. In the noisy environment, to hear more clearly, she even leaned closer to Lu Yang, getting very intimate.

That bastard, they play soccer together every day, but when did he learn to pick up girls?

And soon, news spread throughout the bar that Lu Yang was hitting on a beautiful woman.

San Remo’s players were all watching Lu Yang’s progress from various angles.

Seeing the beauty’s face clearly, Rondo exclaimed in surprise, ”Oh my god, it’s Sofia Katrina! That big star!”
