I AM the Football Star

Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Superstar Talent, Moment Card

On the field, the legendary Italian players are mostly in their forties and fifties, how could they outrun a teenager?

”Alright, it’s settled then. Just be clever out there later, I might pass you the ball at any time. As long as you can catch up to it and give it a little tap, you can show your future first team coach that he’s just a midfield novice who can’t stop you!”

Maniero and Lu Yang were chatting happily.

The commentator at the scene obviously noticed this scene and quickly zoomed in: ”Oh, we can see that the brain of Juventus, Maniero, and this young guy are chatting happily. They’re even hugging like old friends reunited after a long time...”

”Wow, Sotu looks over, is he jealous? After all, everyone knows that he and Maniero have had the best relationship since retirement...”

...

A whistle blew, and the match began.

Around the stadium, thousands cheered.

But at the same time, the long-awaited system voice appeared in Lu Yang’s mind: ”Ding!”

”Legendary Star System activated, assessing host data... Offensive data too low, cannot assess... Defensive data too low, cannot assess...”

”Mental data,

Aggressiveness: 99

Focus: 99

Consistency: 99

Affinity: 50

Leadership: 50”

”Physical data,

Speed: 55

Acceleration: 50

Leg Power,

Jumping,

Strength,

Balance: 50

Tight Ball Control: 50

Stamina, 50

Injury Resistance,

Preferred Foot: Both

Vision”

Two virtual panels appeared, and Lu Yang was quite shocked.

On one hand, he was shocked that his professional abilities in offense and defense were all below 50, causing the system to fail to recognize them. On the other hand, he was impressed by his strong mental qualities.

Any spirit that didn’t require collaboration was maxed out.

It’s simply a ”Kobe Type” personality.

Following this pattern, 50 should be a threshold, possibly the divide between professional and amateur players.

”Ding! Detected that the host has three abilities maxed out, received three random gift packs. Would you like to open the gifts?”

Opening blind boxes?

Without hesitation, Lu Yang opened three in a row.

”Ding! Acquired Player-level Competence *1, Backfield Defense Cooperation.”

”Ding! Acquired Giant Star Talent *1, ’Harvey—God’s Perspective’!”

”Ding! Acquired Moment Card *1, Lionel Messi!”

In an instant, Lu Yang’s mind cleared, and many concepts about backfield defense that he couldn’t understand in the youth team suddenly became clear.

Backing passes in defense should avoid the goal to prevent own goals.

A center-back should push forward while another covers behind.

Center-back closing tactics.

Offside trap by the defensive line.

Defensive line’s pass-back point diagram.

Lu Yang knew these things before, but his understanding was not nearly as thorough as it was now.

Lu Yang promised that in his current state, he was confident he would become the best central defender in the youth team.

No, he could even become the best central defender of the San Remo Team!

”Huh?” Lu Yang looked at his vision data and noticed that this section had jumped directly to 99.

This is...

”Harvey—God’s Perspective,” Giant Star Talent, allows you to perceive everything on the pitch, see everything, grasp everything, and become the master of the field!

Just by glancing around, Lu Yang could feel the difference.

He really could sense everything around him.

It’s not like a God’s perspective in a video game; he could remember everything he glanced at and even predict some changes, achieving a feel as if he had eyes in the back of his head.

This requires a huge brain capacity, calculation ability, and broad vision, as well as good visual habits.

Players with God’s Perspective would always be observing their surroundings during downtime. Only by paying attention regularly can they understand everything in the heat of the moment and strike with lethal precision!

As for the card hovering on the interface, one side featured Messi’s portrait, while the other depicted Messi dribbling at the arc outside the penalty area, surrounded by several people.

This is a one-time use active tool, which triggers special effects for three to ten minutes after use.

”Hey, kid, catch the ball!”

Though it seemed long, it was only a moment in the real world since the kick-off.

The butcher Sotu was rough indeed. After getting the ball, he was unexpectedly shown up by Maniero. Maniero, instead of retreating to the middle backfield, pressed forward to challenge Sotu.

Sotu turned to shield the ball, but it was stolen by an old star from the Star Arrow Team. After the steal, he made a quick short pass to the team’s sole ”Central Forward,” Lu Yang.

But perhaps due to excitement, Lu Yang stood still, not reacting.

It looked like the ball was about to smack him in the back.

Suddenly, Lu Yang started his sprint, not only avoiding being hit but also letting the ball roll through his legs, trying to bring the ball to the front without turning around.

This is a basic stop-and-play step, simple but very effective. Many stars use this during games to seize that fleeting moment for a counterattack.

Unfortunately, Lu Yang’s Ball Control attribute was at an amateur level, so even though he managed to bring the ball over, he stumbled awkwardly.

Soon, Sotu, who had just lost the ball, caught up and fiercely intercepted the ball.

Though aggressive, Lu Yang could sense that Sotu made no fouls; the interception was as clean and artistic as one could imagine.
