I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 549: Chapter 305: The Dragon’s Teacher

Under Aaliyah’s attentive gaze, Gauss didn’t keep the suspense any longer.

”Relax a bit, don’t resist.”

”Okay.”

As he uttered short and powerful yet obscure syllables, a strong aura of magic power vibrated around him.

”Buzz...”

Gauss spoke the meaning of Fluent in Language in Dragon language.

The magic fluctuations slowly enveloped Aaliyah in front of him.

Even though Aaliyah was prepared mentally, she didn’t expect Gauss’s supporting effect to come so quickly and intensely.

It was like a summer gust refreshing her senses in an instant.

”Hmm?!!”

Her brain felt icy cool, as if soaked in some refreshing solution, making her whole body comfortable, thoughts flowing endlessly.

”Have a look at the Skill Book you’re about to learn?”

Gauss spoke slowly next to her.

Upon hearing this, Aaliyah lowered her head.

She had actually taken time to skim through the ”Moonlight” when she first got it.

Her initial feeling was neither particularly difficult nor very simple.

After all, it’s a 2nd-level Spell, unlike a trick or a 1st Ring Spell.

The higher the level, the more challenging it is to learn.

Especially during the initial stages, a lot of time must be spent on interpreting annotations and understanding models.

But now, in this special thinking state, she suddenly felt the knowledge in front of her became much simpler.

It was like waking up to find that the difficulty of spells worldwide had dropped a hundredfold, with only her talent unchanged.

Gauss looked at Aaliyah’s changing expression, knowing that his spell had succeeded.

The effect of Medium Dragon Language aptitude in Fluent in Language had evidently outgrown the initial simple comprehension of unfamiliar texts.

It had developed an unusual magical bond, morphing into a special magic that enhanced and enlightened the target’s ”thinking ability” in a short duration.

In Gauss’s understanding, it’s like a catalyst.

It wouldn’t enable the target to achieve things beyond their capability, like skipping levels to learn higher magic: a level 1 caster learning 3rd Ring, 5th Ring, 9th Ring spells.

It merely accelerated the process when the target was capable of learning 2nd Ring spells, possibly shortening the original week or two to just a few days or even a day or two.

Seeing Aaliyah deeply immersed in the study of ”Moonlight,” Gauss didn’t interrupt her.

He cautiously walked away from her side.

For the other teammates following, Gauss didn’t show favoritism, but cast a ”Gauss Inspiration Spell” buff on each one.

Finally, Gauss brought Hephaestus to an open space, away from the teammates.

Having perhaps guessed what Gauss intended by taking him to a deserted place, Hephaestus wore a bitter dragon face.

Such is the arduous life of a dragon.

It was not a studious Dragon Beast.

Or rather, true dragons, Dragon Beasts, and Sub-dragons seldom loved learning and were mostly lazy.

True dragons needn’t strive; as long as they live, they grow stronger, while Dragon Beasts and Sub-dragons couldn’t catch up to true dragons, who always had a head start. Despite their laziness, ordinary demons couldn’t compete with them.

Such a lazy nature is engraved in their bloodline, as deeply rooted as their strong genes.

”Let’s continue the lesson.”

Though Gauss noted its reluctant expression, their relationship was predominantly led by him.

Hephaestus, the foolish dragon, understood nothing; it was gluttonous, playful, and fond of naps, which wasn’t wrong in general. However, being by his side, it certainly could advance by working harder, its growth process had to be intervened.

It wasn’t a wild dragon but among the worlds’ most likely Dragon Beasts to become a true dragon or even surpass one.

Its enhancement wasn’t merely for itself but also significantly beneficial to Gauss.

Gauss placed his palm on Hephaestus’s dragon forehead.

Though Hephaestus displayed laziness, its body obediently lay prone before Gauss, eyes half-opened and half-closed.

Then, once again, that wonderful sound subtly resonated within its ears.

Gauss first prepared to impart some basic element morphemes.

For within his perception, there were free-roaming magic powers within Hephaestus.

They naturally infused into its breath organs and merged with flames when Hephaestus breathed a fiery dragon breath, transforming into a magic-imbued flame.

Moreover, since joining his team, Hephaestus’s strength was bound by the golden chains of the white egg, yet the magic power within surged quite a bit in Gauss’s perception.

Only its reliance on physical power had temporarily diminished somewhat.

Though unsure whether the white egg did so deliberately or coincidentally, such a ”restrictor” was not necessarily bad for Hephaestus learning magic; instead, it was a significant advantage.

Just like humans, when one sense is lost, other senses strengthen.

Hephaestus’s deep reliance on physical strength simultaneously granted by the heavens was also an invisible shackle.

With an inherently dull brain, overly relying on the innate physical talents could hinder further exploration of more self-discovery.

Now, this invisible shackle was loosening.

The restraint of golden chains, the subtly growing magic power, the still changeable functions of its juvenile body, the Gauss fluent in Medium Dragon Language, alongside the profound psychic resonance between the two...
